Dirwol was in his favorite place. He was standing behind Jyra giving her shoulders a message. Sitting her with her gold seemed to tire her out, so he tried to spend as much time as he could with her.
He had brought her flowers that morning. Now he had brought her lunch and company.
What he hadn't noticed was his little golden queens coloring. She lay in her new favorite spot, next to Jyra's brown. Flips was nowhere to be seen.
"Mmmmm..... that feels really good. Thank you. I hope I'm not keeping you from anything important at the hall." Jyra said as she felt the tension drain out of her under the ministrations of her Harper. She didn't feel strange calling him hers because she had become rather attached to the young journeyman for a reason she couldn't explain.
Dirwol smiled, "You're not." He gently kissed her neck as he worked her muscles. His eyes strayed for a moment to his little gold as she suddenly woke with a squawk. She looked around as if looking for something. He stopped a moment to pull out his little bag of dried meat. He kept it with him for snacks. She launched herself at his offering and squealed at the fair. "Treasure what has gotten into you?" He had never seen her like this.
She seemed to glow.
At the little gold's squeal, Jyramikah looked over at her and said, "She's going to rise! We'd best go out to the Weyrbowl.
Ikoladith won't like the males flocking here even if they are firelizards."
Tanzin had taken notice of the little queen and was hovering not far his gaze only for her.
Dirwol nodded as he followed her out. He wasn't sure what to do as he watched her suddenly take off. Treasure took off with a call to all those that were close, her little golden body glinting in the air.
Daiirue was working at a loom, busily finishing a row of color when unusually sharp pictures of a young gold flit entered his brain. He sighed, looking quickly around the room. He was alone, and noone was likely to go looking for him for a while. Good. I wasn't the first time Vree had chased, but he wasn't comfortable enough with the weyr yet to want other people nearby. ** Good luck. **
Outside, Vree trumpeted a challenge at the others in the fair. He'd been watching her from the rafters since that morning, waiting for his chance.
Tanzin took off after the gold not even caring that he wasn't as large as some of the bronze firelizard.
Dirwol watched as his little Treasure led several bronze and browns in a merry little chase. Her tiny body seemed to glint as it slipped through the morning air. She turned and called them to her. Soon she was nearly out of sight. She flew right into the sun. She took only a moment to turn and look at those that followed. She wanted to see what she had to choose from.
With a screech she dived right through their center.
Jyramikah admired the little gold's antics as it reminded her a lot of her own gold dragon's flights. She watched as Tanzin did a quick turn and followed Treasure in her attempt to get away from her pursuers. Her enjoyment of watching the flight was cut short when her gold awoke to find her gone.
}:You would leave me to watch a _firelizard_
flight?:{ the gold asked clearly irritated at the thought.
**We're just outside, dear. I shall return shortly.**
she said soothingly.
This clutch was definitely difficult as she was unable to do much unless the gold was sleeping. She wanted to be supportive of Dirwol and watch the flight. She loved to watch firelizard and green dragon mating flights for the pure beauty of such a chase.
Vree was calling to Treasure as he determinedly followed the young queen, his crooning echoing in Daiirue's ears. As his bronze caught a breeze to help him get a little closer to the gold, Daiirue wondered idly if the sensation of having a dragon chase would be the same.
Cortana had been cleaning Anath's growing hide, she rose from her work to wipe the sweat from her brow when she felt the twinge of lust from one of her flits.
Her first thought was of Trill, it was getting close to her cycle and she was wondering if it was time, but one look at the large green found her slumbering on her back, slight snores rising from her upturned nose.
She heard him cry before she turned to the little brown. Royal lifted himself from the ground in a rush of brown glory.
Cortana glanced at the little brown, smiling briefly, thought _go to it, little guy_, and then she remembered Anath.
}: What's the small one doing? :{ Anath asked, her eyes beginning to whirl slightly faster. Cortana quickly broke the link with her brown.
**Nothing dear heart, just having a bit of fun.**
Cortana knew she could keep herself under control, but was slightly depressed she wouldn't be able to participate in the flight to its fullest.
Treasure suddenly made a choice. She flew straight into the waiting grasp of a brown she had come to know. She trumpeted her pleasure as he claimed her.
In the workroom, Daiirue gratefully leaned back in his seat and stroked Vree when he appeared; glad the chase was over but disappointed for his bronze's sake.
Cortana stroked the sad brown as he recovered from the flight. "Sorry boyo, but I think your more a green chaser. Maybe next time." She comforted the little guy, glad she hadn't hurt Anath.
Dirwol turned to his goldrider and took her in his arms. "It looks like she has chosen Tanzin. Just like I have chosen to love you." He smiled lovingly as he claimed a kiss.
Jyramikah was glad that Dirwol was happy as it made her happy. She knew that they'd have to return to the Hatching Sands to avoid a commotion with her brooding gold. The hatching shouldn't be long now and then Ikoladoth would go back to being her usual self.
Dirwol smiled as he led His goldrider back to the sands. This had defiantly been a turn to remember for him.
