K'mai

K'mai

It was the hand roving across her bare skin that was slowly beginning to bring Shayla out of the haze she'd been drifting in. With a slight moan she shifted, wondering how long she'd been lying here...wherever "here"
was. Where _was_ she? Blearily she blinked, not really recognizing the room she was in--until that roving hand slipped lower. With wide eyes she reached for Kiranth's mind.

}:Sebeth,:{ the green told her rider sleepily before she could even ask.

Shayla's heart gave a hard bump as she slowly craned her head back to look at the awake, satisifed bluerider.

"Hello Shayla," K'mai said, his voice husky. He bent to kiss her shoulder, one hand still trailing along her hip.

She blushed--and it took her a couple tries to find her voice. "Hey..." It had been different this time, and she thought that it had been almost easier to deal with the aftermath when U'val had been the victor, lying there beside her. There had never been any flirtation between them at all--he was T'voal's grandfather, for Faranth's sake! But K'mai... Shards, he was younger, handsome...and was certainly enjoying her company more than U'val had--and making it quite obvious what he thought about their whole situation.

**Shards...T'voal....**

Swallowing thickly, she shifted, confused. She couldn't deny that a part of her still wanted to be touched and caressed and...do more. But the other part of her desperately wanted _T'voal_ to be doing these things to her. "They...flew well."

"They did indeed." K'mai's hand lifted from her hip. "But you seem a little less than happy about it."

Shards and shells...was she really so transparent? Embarrassed, she sat up, holding the sheet modestly to her chest. "The last thing I want to do is offend anyone, K'mai..."

"You won't offend anyone." He reached up to trail his hand along her arm.
"Did I do anything to upset you?" The flight had been intense, as they always were, but from what he could remember, it hadn't been rough.

A shiver ran up her spine at his touch, but she didn't pull away. In fact, her body seemed to have a mind of its own as she leaned slightly closer towards him. "No," she shook her head. "No, you didn't. It was..." Shayla glanced down at him--at the tanned expanse of his muscled chest, his eyes...his lips... She wanted to kiss him. **T'voal...** "It was good."

"Then what's the problem?" His hand slid down the sheet and rested lightly on her leg.

He wanted her to stay, she realized. U'val couldn't have gotten her out quick enough so she could find T'voal, but K'mai...he wanted her to stay with him here. "I...have a weyrmate..."

"And your green just rose," K'mai countered. "So why not enjoy it for all it's worth?" His hand began to move again, his fingers tracing light patterns on her thigh.

Even though she lived in the Weyr now, it was still so hard to let go of Hold and Crafthall morals that had been bred into her for eighteen Turns--one of them being loyalty to the man she lived with. When a dragon rose, the flight's events were almost unconcious on her part. But now she was self-aware, and it would be _her_ choice to fall back into K'mai's waiting arms--it would be _her_ choice to have sex with a man who wasn't her weyrmate.

In a Hold or Crafthall, it would be terribly wrong to choose K'mai. But she lived in a Weyr now. Things were different.

Unsure, Shayla raised her eyes to his, a part of her already responding to his light touch. She wanted to reach out and kiss him, but still she hesitated.

K'mai sat up and moved closer to her, their legs touching. One hand reached out to cup the back of her head, gently. "You can tell me to stop anytime," he said, his eyes locked with hers.

"It's not wrong to...stay, is it?" she asked softly, leaning closer.

"No." He let his lips hover over hers for a moment before kissing her.

Slowly she let her hands rest against his bare skin, touching him for the first time as _Shayla_, not Shayla-Kiranth. Her fingers shyly traced the muscles of his stomach on up to his chest, and then to his shoulders. The lingering dragonlust that she'd been trying to ignore flared suddenly anew as their kiss deepened.

With a soft whimper, she pressed her body against his, the sheet falling from her.

K'mai wrapped his arms around her, pulling her even closer. His lips moved from hers to her neck, her shoulder. To finally have the shy greenrider in his arms, willing, wanting . . .

Her last, clear thought as the bluerider slowly eased her back down to the furs again was that this couldn't be wrong.

Kiranth sleepily echoed her agreement.
