**And who would you like to flirt with today?** K'mai asked as he rode his dragon down to the weyrlake for a bath.
}:Kiranth is over there,:{ Sebeth said, and that was enough answer for K'mai. They landed on the shore, and the blue waded in near the green.
"Helloooo, Shayla!" K'mai called from Sebeth's neck.
"Hey!" she smiled, tilting her head back to look up at him. "Come to bathe Sebeth, have you?"
"And he's come to admire your green." K'mai swung down from his dragon, landing with a splash in the nearly waist-deep water.
Kiranth dipped her head under Sebeth's, looking up at him rather coquettishly. "She likes to be admired," Shayla replied with a chuckle, glancing lovingly at her preening green.
Sebeth bent enough for their noses to touch gently. "Sebeth likes it just as much," K'mai said as he arranged the dragon's cleaning supplies.
"Like dragon like rider, huh?" she grinned, noticing--not for the first time--just how nicely developed his chest and arms were...
"Does that mean that you like to be admired as well?" he asked.
Shayla blushed. "Actually, I was referring to _you_," she laughed.
"Oh, of course," K'mai winked. "Your dragon likes to be admired, but you seem to enjoy blushing."
At that, her face turned even redder. Now if it had been _T'voal_ teasing her like that, she'd give him something to put his clever mind and hands to...but this was K'mai. "Well, what can I say? Most people would agree with you," she grinned. "It's like I can't go a half-candlemark without my cheeks turning pink."
"And it is _terribly_ adorable." He smiled before turning around to scrub Sebeth's dark blue hide.
Shayla looked at his back. **Thank you?**
Kiranth turned her head from Sebeth's to look down at her rider. }:You like him. So why are you acting so fluttery?:{
**I'm not acting fluttery,** she replied with an indignant frown, coming over to scrub at the green's shoulder.
}:You are. He's nice. Sebeth is nice. Let's enjoy ourselves.:{
**Right...** "Is it true there's going to be a waterball tournament against the other Weyrs?" There. A safe, interesting topic of discussion.
"Yes, it is." He looked over his shoulder. "I'm captain for the River Bluff team." And he was very glad to have that position, especially when there were so many other good players in the Weyr. "Would you like to join?" he asked the greenrider.
"I was thinking about it..." She met his eyes. "I've played a couple times with T'voal and our friends, but I've never had any real...training... Or conditioning."
"Ehh," he waved a hand, "that doesn't matter. We'll have a few practices to get warmed up. I'm sure you'll do fine."
She grinned at him. "You have such faith! You haven't even _seen_ me practice yet..."
"Well, you _look_ like you'd be good at waterball." The bluerider winked.
"I've got the arms for it," she laughed, flexing her bicep for him. "Don't I?"
"Keep showing off like that, and I might have to snatch you away to somewhere more private."
Blushing, she peeked up at him through her lashes, wondering if he was still teasing her, or if he was somewhat serious. "To do what?" she heard herself asking.
"Give you personal attention," K'mai said, wondering if Shayla was really considering it. "_Very_ personal attention."
"Oh."
The bluerider took a few steps toward her. The sound of water splashing around his legs seemed loud. "If you want to Shayla, all you have to do is say yes." His tone was quiet, serious.
Glancing at him nervously, she couldn't find her voice to tell him no--or even yes. Swallowing, she watched him move closer, wondering what it would feel like if she ran her hands over his arms...his chest...
K'mai kept moving toward her, slow and steady. When he was close enough, he took her hand and kissed it, keeping his eyes on her face.
**Shard it all, Shayla, what are you thinking?** She looked up at him, both curiously wanting, and ashamed for even _feeling_ that. It wasn't worth hurting T'voal... It just wasn't. "I...can't."
He gave her hand another kiss and then released it. "Okay." K'mai smiled gently. "I don't want to push things _too_ much."
Shayla returned his smile with a shy one of her own.
