}:Hello, Calaroth!:{ Indith greeted, alighting long enough to drop V'tian by the Dining Hall before lifting off again.

V'tian blinked, and then spotted T'lin nearby.

"Hey V'tian." He grinned at the younger rider. "How are you doing?"

"Hello." V'tian responded, and offered a return smile, faint but real. "Indith and I have both been hard at work in our Wing. Staying busy." A studied shrug. "Flying. Flights. How have you been?"

"Good. Been keeping busy," T'lin answered. "A few of Calaroth's Candidates Impressed at the Hatching."

V'tian nodded. "And my _brother_ was one of them." He responded. "To a _brown_." he added. "He's T'ian now."

"Yeah, both of you dragonriders. How exciting!" T'lin said.

}:I knew he would be good for a dragon,:{ Calaroth said.

"A _brown_, apparently." V'tian huffed, then shook his head. "T'ian and Thazareth. If I still cared, I'd be laughing in my father's face." An idle one shoulder shrug. "T'ian was always an adventurous kid. Followed me everywhere. Now we're both here."

He smirked at T'lin. "The Weyr's way better."

}:My V'tian is very good too.:{ Indith agreed, flicked her tail and arched her neck just so. }:This ledge is so very comfortable, Calaroth.:{ She greeted. }:You may join me, if you like.:{

Calaroth didn't need any more invitation than that. }:You are especially lovely today, Indith,:{ he said as he landed near the green.

"I know things with your family have been difficult. I'm glad your brother's here now," T'lin said with a smile. "Would you like to join me for lunch?"

"I mean... not really? About my family, I mean." V'tian added hastily. "I just didn't go back."

He shrugged, and then offered T'lin a smile of his own. "Lunch sounds good. Lead the way."

}:I am always especially lovely.:{ Indith agreed. }:But you are excellent to notice, Calaroth.:{

Calaroth gently nuzzled her. }:Always lovely, and clever too.:{

Halfway to the serving line, T'lin paused and tilted his head. "Is Indith close to rising? Calaroth seems very interested."

V'tian missed a step and stumbled, and caused Radiance to burst free of her sling with an annoyed squeal as the gold took wing.

His eyes unfocused, briefly, as he checked. "... I mean. She's saying not yet?" He offered. "But, uh... maybe? She's being... smug."

}:Of course I am smug, and clever, and fast.:{ Indith agreed, and arched her neck proudly.

Calaroth slid his muzzle against the curve of her neck. }:And beautiful.:{

"Maybe Calaroth will catch her this time," T'lin said. "I'd like that."

Indith crooned delightedly. }:I am, aren't I?:{

"I'd like that too." V'tian responded with a smirk for T'lin. "Though Calaroth might have some competition. She's taken a fancy to Yuliuth lately."

Indith, for her part, crooned again and arched her neck just so.

T'lin frowned. "His rider hasn't hurt you or anything, has he?"

V'tian blinked at him, then frowned himself. "Of course not. Indith would never stand for it." He responded. A slightly haughty tilt of his chin, and he unconsciously mirrored Indith. "He's done what I told him to."

"What you've told him to, huh?" T'lin arched an eyebrow. "Is it more than just flights then?"

"I'm... not actually sure." V'tian huffed. "He's busy a lot. But he does come when I ask Indith to tell Yuliuth. If he's not otherwise occupied." He shrugged. "And he's polite."

"Polite?" T'lin repeated skeptically. "The guy who beat a woman in a store room?"

"... That's what he did?" V'tian tipped his head. "He didn't say that. He just said... he was working extra to pay off a debt he owed."

A consideration, and then he shrugged. "He hasn't given me any issues. I mean... between my flits and me and Indith I bet half the Weyr would hear the racket we could cause."

T'lin's stomach tightened with unease. "You should stay away from him. He cornered Saedyna in a store room and beat her unconscious. She almost died."

V'tian thought about that, and then made a face. "I'll be fine." He only repeated. "I've got Indith and Radiance and Sky. Besides," he added, "he said he _liked_ me, and he's not bad looking. I don't exactly have admirers lined up through the Weyr."

A pause, and then he continued. "Or, what? Is Calaroth going to warn Yuliuth off, or something?"

The bluerider's eyes unfocused and he gave a small sigh. "Cal says he likes Yuliuth. But you can do better V'tian, really."

"What, are you offering?" V'tian huffed in response. "I promise, I'm _fine_. I can handle myself, T'lin." He added. "It's not like I'm about to weyrmate him. Besides, who doesn’t like feeling flattered?"

"I don't like this at all." T'lin shook his head. "You can make your own choices, but he better not hurt you." He put a hand on V'tian's arm. "I'm just worried. I'm here for you, okay?"

V'tian looked at him for a minute, and then gave a sort of shrug, less nonchalant than he'd initially meant. "... Thanks, I guess." He muttered.

Indith, for her part, crooned approvingly and nuzzled Calaroth, flicking her tail just so. }:Such a strong and caring blue.:{

}:I like you a lot, Indith,:{ His warm breath blew against her neck as he gently caressed her.

The contrast between his worry for V'tian and Calaroth's intense flirting made T'lin feel a little disoriented. "Look, I didn't mean to upset you. I'd still like to get lunch, and you can tell me about your firelizards' latest antics."

V'tian blinked and shook his head slightly. "Oh! Uh... yeah. Food. C'mon then." He added, and straightened, started to walk toward the dining hall. Radiance, her fit apparently forgotten, settled back down on his shoulder, preening a little bit.

Sky, still in the sling, chirruped quietly and poked his head out to peer at the other person.

"Hello cuties," T'lin said. "What mischief have you been up to lately?"
