N’kevyn crept quietly past the sleeping gold on the ledge outside his weyr. He’d had every intention of changing into his riding leathers and heading to wing practice early, but the opportunity was almost too much to pass up. Heading for Aydhan’s office, he nudged open the door, pleased to find her alone. Moving behind her desk, he bent to press a kiss against the side of her neck, “Tymmie is asleep and I don’t have drills for a candlemark. We could give her some interesting dreams and see if that moves things along. Or you could keep working on… whatever this mess of scribbles is.” He put one hand on the hidework, trying to gently pull it away from her.
"This mess of scribbles keeps you fed and happy, old man." Aydhan teased even as she leaned back in her chair, tilting her head back so he could better kiss her neck. She didn't resist the pull of the hidework away, but looked up at him through half-lidded eyes, "Are you sure? There might be such a thing as being _too_ important. Are you okay with being Weyrleader one day?"
“I’m sure it’s important, I just can’t read it,” he teased, lips against her neck. He was brushing her hair aside when she asked that question, and his hand instantly stilled. With a sigh, he straightened, though he didn’t completely pull away, leaving his hands on her shoulders. “No. I’m not. But we’ve discussed it- my disinterest in the Weyrleader position is no reason for you to be reluctant to take the position you deserve. I can be careful. Take Avicath away when the time comes.”
"I'd miss you." Aydhan said seriously. "The flightroom won't be the same without you flexing in front of all the other bronzes. We'll need to find you a new hobby, if I'm going to be that important." She leaned her head against his arm, enjoying the contact, and teased, "Or a new girlfriend."
“I’ll miss your flightroom,” he agreed, “and you’ll miss me in it, but you’ll have me the rest of the time. You can’t say that if I become Weyrleader. And I have the hobby sorted: clearly, fire lizard training. I can have a whole flight of them trained to run your messages.” He moved to the side of her so she could see him grinning, “I doubt I’ll have time for a new girlfriend, but if you’re going to insist…”
"Would you think me awful if I preferred a girlfriend over firelizards?" Aydhan asked, knowing he wouldn't. "Less mess, and at least I could join in the fun."
“So much work, though. You know I like the hard to get ones,” he teased back.
"But then all the firelizard stuff can be at _her_ weyr." Aydhan said with a laugh. She placed a hand on his cheek, feeling the coarseness of his beard and the warmth of him. "A candlemark, you say? Goodness, we could give Tym all kinds of ideas with that amount of time…"
