Cyradis

}: Panitath says that her rider isn't having a very good morning, :{ Vorath remarked to B'nell as he was gathering his notes for their meeting shortly. The bespectacled brownrider stopped, mulling those words and everything that they meant over. To an outside observer, it appeared as though B'nell was paused in some temporal state, unmoving, until he blinked, and then the moment was over. The flow of time resumed.

"She hasn't had a really great Turn," B'nell remarked back. "Not with Naradis and the Hatching that...well..." B'nell didn't like to think about how someone had tried to poison hatchling dragons. It still sent shivers down his limbs.

}: And with Donneth's rider leaving... :{ Vorath added sadly.

"Right," B'nell agreed in the same sad tone. He lightly drummed his fingers on his notes. Then, an idea struck him. "Tell Panitath that we're on our way, just....we might be a little late," B'nell said. He became a flurry of movement then, grabbing straps, a basket, oh wait he almost forgot his notes! And then he was aboard Vorath, heading for the Lower Caverns kitchens.

"If you wanted to cheer the Weyrwoman up with food, how would you do it?" he asked one of the cooks, who smiled as though she had been waiting for someone to ask her this all day. The cook hurried off and presently, the basket that B'nell had brought was filled with all sorts of goodies. "Thank you!" a ladened B'nell said. "Oof, maybe we brought too much," he remarked as he hefted the basket. "Tell her we're on our way!" They weren't too late past the start of their meeting. Good. She was a busy woman, after all. He didn't want to make her late for the rest of her day.

}: Do you need help? :{ Vorath asked after landing on Panitath's ledge, watching B'nell try to get the basket down.

"Nope! I got it!"

"My goodness," Cyradis' voice behind him welled with humor. "What is all that?"

A lot was what it was. But B'nell didn't say that. "A care package!" he announced. "A little of this, a little of that."

}: A lot of this, a lot of that, :{ Vorath corrected. B'nell ignored him. He wrangled the basket on to the table and began unpacking it, one item at a time, naming a fair amount of things that Cyradis liked and perhaps some things that she didn't. Who knew at this point. There was a lot to unpack.

She shook her head and chuckled. Well perhaps her boys would stop by and help her. She expected R'nar soon as he hadn't been by to meet his new brother yet. "Well," she said with a small smile. "Thank you for your thoughtfulness, this is quite the haul." She reached for a redfruit tart that was one of her favorites.

"Panitath told Vorath that you..." Should he bring it up? What should he say? He didn't really want to ruin her day by reminding her but... "She said that you were having a bad day so I asked the cooks to help cheer you up!" he eventually said with a brightness that he hoped lightened the burden. "Except that I didn't expect them to send over so _much_."

"Thank you B'nell, it was very thoughtful of you and the kitchens." She was sure she'd gain a couple of pounds if she even ate half of what he'd brought. "Feel free to help me," she pointed at the pastries.

He had long given up trying to be as thin as some dragonriders were. He figured they lived on air. So B'nell took the invitation and bit into one of the warm pastries, humming happily. "They did a good job for certain," he remarked around chewing. "You have to tell me which one is your favorite though so that I can bring it for another rainy day. Well, I mean, hopefully not another rainy day soon. Or ever. Okay, maybe I'll bring it over just because." He felt like he was sticking both his foot and his pastry in his mouth now and fell silent.

"Oh definitely the Klah buns that Alyena makes." She didn't see any on the tray but she knew they were a very rare treat as they required some extra supplies. "With a little butter they're lovely."

B'nell made a humming sound of agreement. The klah buns _were_ really good. Too bad they weren't available more often but maybe that was really a good thing. He pat the baby fat on his waist. "Or the little rolled jam tarts she makes? I've had one or two too many of those," he said.

"Oh yes," Cyradis agreed. "I was thinking that I'd like you to take a look at the Senior Weyrlings in the current class and give me some recommendations. Do you think that you can handle that?"

The brownrider immediately brightened, happy to be of use. "Absolutely! Do you want to begin now?" He looked at the food that they were still consuming. "Or maybe later," he considered. Unless she wanted to go over it now. Maybe that would be a good distraction too.

"Let's talk about it," she smiled. Business of the wing had to be handled even when she didn't feel like it. But luckily, B'nell would do his best to make it a little less unpleasant.
