Traelyn was glad that she'd been sound asleep when B'ram had finally made his swift and silent escape from her weyr. It couldn't have been too long ago though, she had thought as she'd rolled over, tentatively reaching out and rubbing her hand against the spot where he'd lain beside her. The sheets hadn't been cool, and the pillow he'd used when he hadn't been using her had still borne the faint imprint of his head.
And later, as she had stepped into her bathing chamber, she'd noticed that he had remembered to take all his clothes with him--and thank Faranth he did. Traelyn wasn't completely sure if she would have been able to screw up enough nerve to sharding face him so soon after last night to give them back. Perhaps she wouldn't have had to do it at all, but she didn't want _anything_ of his near her. It would only provoke memories that aroused and confused her.
Like she _needed_ any visual aid...
Scorch it.
With a weary sigh, Traelyn leaned back against the stone of the bathing pool, letting the hot water flow over her body--letting it wash away the feeling of him...the sharding _scent_ of him. Her eyes roamed over the room, wondering what he'd been thinking of when he'd been in here last night, before she came back with U'kaiah. Had he been planning to say what he had said to her all along? Had he been thinking of each and every sharding insult to throw at her as he had soaked here in _her_ sharding bathing pool? Closing her eyes at the memory of him standing there naked before her, the towel swinging from one finger, eyes livid, mouth twisted in a humorless smile, she submerged herself completely underwater, scrubbing hard at her long hair--as if each scrub would drive him further and further from her thoughts. Sharding B'ram!
Coming back up, she knuckled the water from her eyes. She'd been so furious with him...and had been repulsed by her own lust as he had shoved her up against the table, pulling her hips in line with his own. Shards...that feeling hadn't lasted for long, though. As he had murmured those terrible words in her ear, she suddenly hadn't been able to think of anything else beyond her anger--her hate. The emotions searing through them both had been so strong that they were nearly tangible. But all of that anger--all of that intense, mutual loathing they had for each other--had melded so abruptly into passion when he finally got her on the bed, and from there...it had turned into lovemaking.
It had always been that way with L'kub. Their fights had always been sharding heated, intense. And they'd fought a lot, as young loves often do--and over the stupidest things! Traelyn had held a certain amount of obscure pride in knowing that she was one of the few people on Pern who could provoke L'kub into completely losing his temper. Most people hadn't even known he'd _possessed_ a temper because he'd always been so calm and so understanding when dealing with others. And after their fights--and after those nights of passion and loving to make up for them--she would always tell him that he'd looked incredibly sexy when he growled and snarled at her like that. That had always made him laugh....and then respond to that reflective statement in the most deliciously-tantalizing of ways. And it had always been like that....
....until the day when green Shavrith rose.
~*~*~
"Shards... I'm so glad the day is nearly _over_," Trae sighed in L'kub's ear, a smile curving her lips as she made herself more comfortable on his lap, gently nuzzling the flesh beneath his earlobe.
"Nearly over? I thought it _was_ over." He grinned and scrunched up his shoulder as her breath tickled his neck. "After all, I wouldn't be letting you do terrible things to me if I didn't think I had all night to get you back for it."
"What?" Her teeth began to lightly nip at his skin. "You call _this_
terrible?"
"Yes," he chuckled low down in his throat, "but it's my favorite kind of terrible."
"But I thought you liked _this_ too..." Her lips slid up his neck, no longer nipping, but kissing. They then trailed up to the corners of his mouth, just barely brushing his, teasing him.
"But that's not _terrible_. That's just mean." His long fingers began slowly inching her skirt higher along her thigh. It had been a long day, and with the next being a restday, he intended to turn it into a long night as well.
She grinned impishly, her lips lingering against his, still not quite touching. "Mmm... But you like it when I'm..." she shivered as his fingers smoothed further up her leg, caressing sensitive skin, "...mean?"
He nipped at her lip lightly. "Uh huh. Because it gives me a chance to be mean back." Shards it was good to have her finally in the wings. She might have a lot more hidework to do, but hidework could be ignored a lot easier than a Weyrlingmaster.
"You're not just mean. You can be wicked too--L'kub!" she gasped as that sharding, wandering hand of his got a lot bolder. Her dark eyes were beginning to flicker with a fire as she lifted them to his.
"But I thought you liked it when I was wicked," he whispered against her lips. L'kub knew he really liked being wicked to Trae. The most wonderful things seemed to follow.
"I didn't say--oh, _shards_, L'kub," her tone held a hint of a snarl in it and she squirmed in his grasp, both evading and seeking that sharding hand of his. "I didn't... I didn't say I _didn't_ like--oooh..." her voice faded into a low moan. Oh, shards. Now that felt really, really good...
He stopped suddenly as his eyes glassed over. His blue was calling him, and it would not wait. The desire in L'kub's eyes deepened, but not for the woman so warm and wriggling in his lap.
The abrupt loss of his teasing, wicked caresses nearly killed her. What on _Pern_... Her eyes opened to look at him, and seeing the expression of raw desire on his face, her brow suddenly furrowed. "L'kub...?"
"Shavrith is rising," he whispered, more to himself than to her. Finally he turned his eyes towards her. "I'm sorry, Trae. I have to go."
"Oh... Yeah... Yeah." Feeling rather awkward, and more than a bit irritated--even though she knew he certainly couldn't help it--she bit her lower lip, her jaw tightening as she quickly slipped off his lap.
He kissed her apologetically. At least he had intended for it to be apologetic, but the rising passion within him made it tauntingly passionate.
Oh for all the _sharding_... With a hint of a desperate growl, she shoved at him, breaking their lips apart--though that was the _last_ thing she wanted to do. "Just _go_, L'kub."
"Right," he breathed. The bluerider didn't dare raise his eyes to hers as he quickly brushed past her and headed for the ledge where his Versith was waiting impatiently for him.
Trae watched him go, feeling sick. Of course this wasn't the first sharding time he'd participated in a sharding mating flight, but it was the first time he had to leave _her_ for one! Sharding green dragons...
She took in a deep, frustrated breath, her fists smoothing down her skirts as she tried to shove back the heat that had been building within her at his touch. And she watched with hard eyes as the blue, with a long sweep of his wings, eagerly lept from the ledge, his bugle answering that green's lustful shriek.
Shards.
