Description: J'ler doesn't really actually truly want to help Ekirim with firelizard oilingā" unless...?
Location: Dragonsfall Weyr
Date: month 3, day 22 of Turn 11
J'ler had taken Ekirim's adviceā" that advice being, he had put the date he and his classmates were expected to go between on his calendar. Oh, and he had gotten a calendar.
And when the day came, he never would have believed that he could expect to run into the man himself. The man, the myth, the legend. Something.
"Hey! It's like you planned it this way." J'ler laughed. "How have you been? How's the firelizard?"
Ekirim grinned. He hadn't really gotten a good idea of the hatching date nor did he stop to try and do any of the math; math was hard, anyway, and he didn't exactly have all the context. "Doing good. Firelizard could use some _oiling_. How about yours?"
"He's feeling pretty neglected. I marked the day just like you said,'' said J'ler. "I'm not sure whether that made it harder to wait... heheh. Harder."
"Hah! Well, I've never had anyone do _that_ before." Ekirim said. He considered a moment, then, "You got anywhere to be?"
"Not today!" said J'ler. "And I've got my own weyr now. If you want to see it."
}:So you're really and truly doin' this? I thought you were just misconstruin' this,:{ said Maishoth.
**Come on, we are only joking around! I'm a brownrider.**
}:You forget I can see your heart. There's no reason to play this part.:{
**Naw... I mean, he couldn't really be serious, right? Guys mess around like this all the time!**
}:How long have you been waiting since? It's not me that you want to convince.:{
"Let's go. Unless you'd prefer to find a storeroom?" Ekirim asked. That wasn't _his_ thing, really, after having to sneak around so much back home, and he wasn't about to bring a boy home to the quarters he shared with his mother and sisters.
"A storeroom?" J'ler laughed. "Is it more fun that way? When it feels like you're getting away with something?"
Maishoth landed nearby.
"Looks like Maishoth thinks our weyr is comfier than a storeroom. But it's up to you."
Ekirim's laugh was a touch more awkward. "I'm from the holds, man." He said gently, "We weren't hiding because it was a _thrill_."
He looked Maishoth up and down. "Uh...remind me how to get up there?"
"Oh, shit." J'ler blushed with a touch of embarrassment at having put his foot in his mouth. But it was hard to keep pretending they were kidding after that. Not that it stopped J'ler.
"Sorry. Well. Far be it from me to make you keep hiding now that it's safe to be out in the open, yeah? Here. Let me show you how to climb up, and then I'll give you a hand."
Ekirim took his time climbing aboard, though he expected that Maishoth hardly felt it. That's what they said about runnerbeasts the few times he'd ridden them, and a dragon was bigger than one of those. "How do I hold on?" He asked in J'ler's ear, even as he wrapped his arms around the brownrider's waist.
J'ler's skin erupted in goosebumps. He was not entirely prepared for how nice it felt to have Ekirim's arms around him. It was probably just...
Actually, it was hard to make excuses for that one.
}:If this is all it takes to make you squirm, just wait until you find what else is firm.:{
Heheh. Firm.
"That'll do," he said. "You can just hold onto me. We don't have far to go."
Ekirim did indeed hold on- and tried not to look down by burying his face in J'ler's neck when he felt Maishoth prepare for liftoff. He did, briefly, think back to Pesrath Searching him and wonder if the blue dragon was actually out his gourd. But they were landing again, and Ekirim reluctantly loosened his grip on J'ler so the man could help them both climb down.
J'ler slid down first and held up his hand to Ekirim.
And then began the grand(ish) tour. He proudly showed off Maishoth's outer area, then went in a circle inside his own living spaceā"
"And if you're hungry, I've got a few things here, or I can get a fire going if you're cold, and here's my bed." It was... not tidily made up, but at least it smelled clean. "Can you believe how huge this place is?"
It was all definitely cleaner than what Ekirim expected (and was used to) for a teenager, especially a teenager living alone, and Ekirim had no problem flopping onto the bed. "Definitely bigger than where I'm living with my mother and two sisters." He agreed. We'll have to do this more often." He pushed himself up onto his elbows and tilted his head towards the empty space on the bed.
J'ler's eyes went to where Ekirim glanced, and his heart suddenly exploded from normal to THIS IS REAL.
"A-are we... is this... really happening?"
Would he say no if it was? If it really was a game, he had definitely just lost it.
}:The lengths you go to are hard to believe. Just who is it you're out to deceive?:{
Uh. Ekirim sat up fully, confusion written plainly on his face. "Do you...not want to? You seemed pretty keen before."
"No, I mean. Iā" I thought... I mean, I'm a brownrider, so... I thought we were just joking around, but..."
"Yeah, a brownrider." Ekirim said, clearly not understanding. "Don't they chase greens? Isn't that a thing? Greenriders are men."
"Yeah. Mostly. Or... muchly. Yeah, that makes sense..." J'ler nodded. "Just... Everyone always says... And I..."
"I don't know what everyone says. I know folks at Amber Hills talk about their relatives getting whisked away to the Weyr like that means something, and it only sometimes matters what colour their dragon might be. And then I got here and maybe it's just that I don't know many dragonriders, but gender doesn't seem to matter much. There's so many more dudes."
"So, like. Have you always known you liked men?"
Ekirim shrugged. "Yeah, I guess? Women are fine. I'm not hiding in storerooms or climbing out of windows for women, though. Not as often, anyway."
J'ler grinned and let out a breath of a laugh.
"I didn't know. I mean. I've never looked at a man and thought, wow, let's fly off to my weyr and oil each other's firelizards. Not until you, anyway." He blushed, but he climbed onto the bed beside Ekirim.
"So I've never done this before. I've, uh... barely even done it with women. Could you show me?"
Huh. Ekirim had figured he was finally free of blushing virgins. Weyrfolk really are just like us. He laid his hand on top of J'ler's, squeezing it gently as he leaned forward. "That I can do. Come here." And, with the other hand lightly guiding J'ler jaw, he pulled the other man into a kiss.
