Saibra

Word preceded Saibra and Naradis' arrival at Dolphin Cove, of course,
since K'don had been sent back first.

}:Panitath.:{ Chioneth greeted the Dolphin Cove senior queen politely,
but her eyes were still tinged with red from the emotions of her rider
and all that had transpired at Dragonsfall just moments before.

Saibra didn't care where Naradis went once they had landed. She
figured Cyradis or N'vanik already had that handled. The Dragonsfall
Weyrwoman headed straight for the familiar path to Cyradis's office,
one that she'd taken several times before, although always in a much
better mood than she was now.

She hated to bother Cyradis after the sevenday that Dolphin Cove had
experienced with the poisoned meat, but this was one of those
situations that required the Weyrwomen to convene.

"Cyradis," she nodded to her friend as she entered her office. "I
apologize for showing up on such short notice, and in such a poor
mood, no less."

"No need to apologize, Saibra," Cyradis said as she stood from behind
her desk and walked around it toward the more comfortable seating
area. "I don't blame you in the least." She knew she wasn't supposed to
be walking around at this stage but there were no other options
arranged for her just yet. She waved a hand inviting the
other Weyrwoman to join her on the couch or one of the chairs. "Would
you like some Klah?"

"Please," Saibra said as she took the offered seat "You never told me
that there would be days like this as a Weyrwoman," she teased her
friend with a long-suffering sigh.

Cyradis poured, feeling comfortable with Saibra in a way that only
came with long friendships. A corner of her mouth twitched up at the
sight. "I understand the feeling, believe me," she said. "is your
weyrling safe now?" She did mean both the dragon and his remarkable
rider. She knew she needed to keep this conversation as non emotional
as possible in her current condition.

"She is safe, and so is her dragon. I don't know if it's because he's
still so young but Chioneth and I felt especially... _feral_ when it
came to his defense. I've never," she pressed a slightly tremorous
hand across her chest, "felt so strongly." Some of the adrenaline was
beginning to wane.

“Oh, I know what you mean,” said Cyradis. “I felt that way last sevenday
when they tried to poison all my clutch.“ She shook her head. “let
alone that they poisoned me too.” She took a deep breath and shook
her head. “I don’t think N’vanik is going to get over it anytime soon.
This may be his baby after all.“ She swept a hand over her expanding
middle.

"The things Naradis said, Cyradis, were so... So angry and cruel. To
wish death on a dragonrider because her feelings were hurt?" Saibra
shook her head slowly, still in shock.

"I'm sorry," Cyradis shook her head. "This is one of the more
difficult things to deal with when it's your child. Address it as her
mother or as her Weyrwoman. I don't wish that on you... ever. Her
temper is a great deal like her da N'lon. He can be unreasonable with
his ire. That doesn't make him right, or her."

Saibra had dealt with Saidrene on more than one occasion, but never,
not even with all of the stuff with J'ackt, had it ever been something
so serious.

"Well, I've banned Naradis and K'don both from Dragonsfall for the
time being. I know he meant no harm, so I won't keep him out of
Dragonsfall for long - not that I imagine he'd want to come back any
time soon." Now that he wasn't _as_ angry, she felt sorry for the
young brownrider.

"I'm sad for him. He's a good kid but it's a lesson he had to learn.
If he'd asked Panitath he would never have taken her there. The fact
that she asked him and neither K'deren or me tells me she was trying to get
around us." Was that another strike against her?

**Dear one, please let all dragons know they are not to take Naradis
out of this Weyr until we tell them differently.**

"I've restricted her here. None of the dragons will transport her
anywhere without my permission until we get this settled." She set her
cup down and leaned forward. "I will deal with it. I promise you that
Saibra." Though she didn't know how she could handle it without
becoming stressed. Perhaps she needed both N'vanik and Urlene to be
with her when she talked with her daughter.

Saibra reached out and squeezed one of Cyradis's hands. "Thank you,
Cyradis, I knew you would. I'm sorry again for bringing this to you at
a time like this. You should be resting with your feet up at this
point - letting N'vanik and K'deren wait on you hand and foot."

She smiled and squeezed back. "D'hol too," she grinned. "Though I
won't pull him from Kapera and Timassa. But he came by to offer to
kill the drudge." She took a deep breath and blew it out slowly. "Did
she say anything at all about why she was so angry to attack her
friend?"

"She said that Kadira told her she didn't deserve to Impress?" Saibra
said it with her shoulders lifted to express how bewildered she felt.
"I wasn't there for the beginning part. Kadira fainted and was being
seen to by one of my Wingleaders when I left to bring Naradis here.
I'm sure K'deren's boy knew better than I."

She nodded and ran a hand over her eyes. "Who is _she_ to judge," she
wondered. **And what was she thinking? Teenagers...** "Well I hope she
has a better reason for causing all this drama than her hurt
feelings."

Saibra wished she had wine in her hand, but she felt sure a
headache was already brewing. "I'm sure you'll get to the bottom of
it. You're fortunate to have a steady Weyrleader and weyrmate to
support you through it. Well, I guess we're both fortunate in that
regard."

"More than I feel I deserve at times," Cyradis smiled. "I've been very
lucky since I came to Dolphin Cove. Just need to get through another
teen tantrum." her eyes widened and she sighed out a deep breath. "How
about some of my Citroncello and you can tell me about R'enh and the
babies."
