N'call

There was a thump and a childish squeal of laughter. "YAY!"

"Ooo...you get back here."

There was a peal of giggles as the sound of little feet pattered
quickly over the stone floor. "No! I runnin! I runnin!" There were
more giggles and then a "Mama! I run!"

Ninaine caught the little girl before she scampered out towards the
ledge. "Not that way you don't." Callaine bounced wildly in her arms,
kicking her feet. "Sweet Faranth, how many bubbly pies did D'ale give
you before we left?"

"Pie!"

"I'll bet." Nianine carried Callaine to the tiny room that would be
hers when she wasn't with her foster mother. "I just unpacked your
toys. You can play while I do the rest okay?" She handed her daughter
her favorite stuffed runner toy and moved to the next crate. The weyr
was significantly larger than her tiny ground level weyr at
Dragonsfall, but not as large as the one next door. It did,
thankfully, have two much smaller rooms that functioned as children's
bedrooms and a small bathing pool. Her bed was out in the open, and it
wasn't very large, but it was comfortable. With a rug, it almost
looked homey. But it still looked empty. She didn't have many
belongings to fill the weyr and it still looked spartan.

She glanced quickly at the small crib where Nican and Ninall still
slept, curled together. Callaine thankfully hadn't woken them. She'd
have to find a foster mother for all of the children, and soon. But it
wasn't so bad having them all at once. It kept her busy.

"I runnin!" Ninaine whipped her head around as her two-turn-old
daughter bolted towards the half-opened door to the corridor.

N'call had been walking down the hallway toward the Weyr he shared
with Teseada when a small child shaped eruption came out of the open
doorway ahead of him "Whoh there little...." then he recognized the
toddler. "Callaine," he snatched her up in a grin and stepped toward
the door with a big grin. "Ninaine?"

"DADDY!" The toddler squealed as she was picked up, recognizing her
father immediately. Her arms flung around his neck and squeezed,
kicking her little legs in excitement. "We move! I runnin'! Mama
chase!"

Ninaine had just about to swing the door open to give chase and was
brought up short by the sound of N'call's voice. She stopped and
looked up at him, a little smile lifting her lips. "Hi. Looks like you
got your surprise a little earlier than I'd planned." Her eyes
softened and moistened. "It was approved, N'call. I'm here. With the
babies. Tes, she got me this weyr."

"Yeah I see that little flit," he chuckled at his daughter and then he
put the other arm around Ninaine gathering her close. "This is the
very best surprise," he grinned and planted a huge kiss on Nina's
lips.

Ninaine kissed N'call back and it felt sweet, warm, and welcoming.
"Tes talked to Kapera for me. I'll be helping the Headwoman and the
goldriders when they need it. And sometimes with the weyrlings too, if
they're having the same problems I did. I guess Teseada convinced her
that I could be an asset to the Weyr. She and I thought that if I was
close by, in a family weyr, that it would make it easy on everybody.``
She looked up at him. "So, we're side by side and the children can
play together when we have them. We can be together again now."

"That's wonderful," his eyebrows rose. "You'll like Jayzine I think,"
he nodded. He was suddenly thankful for the surprise she and Teseada
had pulled off. He shook his head and squeezed her again. "I'm so very
happy you're all here," he said. "Show me your new weyr," he urged
her.

There was happiness as she felt herself tugged against him and
embraced. "There's really not much to it. Yours and Tes' weyr is much
bigger," she admitted. "The bathing chamber is over there, so I won't
have to go to the bathing pools." She'd never liked to anyway, so
there was certainly relief to having a private one again. "And there's
two small bedrooms for the boys and Callaine when they're here. I'll
have to find them a fostermother pretty quickly." She gestured out at
the ledge. "But the ledge is pretty large for when you're here with
Haloth and there's a place for him near Luneth's." She looked around.
"I don't have much furniture yet, but I really don't need much. I
guess I'll have time to fill it."

The weyr was beautiful as all of Master Bilpen's work seemed to be.
"I'm sure we can find some things in stores. Last time I was there, I
saw a beautiful wall hanging if it's still there. I think it would
suit us." He hadn't put much of his own things into the weyr he'd
share with Teseada as the Gold Rider weyrs had all some pre furnished
and decorated. "Anything in particular you'd like?"

Ninaine blinked at him, privately surprised. **We? Us?** He was acting
as though he'd be sharing this weyr with her; she'd assumed he'd
remain with Teseada. Her weyr was much larger and he'd already been
living there. Wouldn't he just be visiting her like he had since he
came here? She said nothing of her thoughts but as he continued, kept
his words in mind. "Oh. A hanging? Maybe that would be nice." She
agreed readily. Her last weyr had been rather bare except for her few
belongings and she'd gotten used to it. She had to stop to actually
think. "Well...uhm..." Ninaine looked around and honestly couldn't
think of a thing that she particularly wanted. "I don't know. I
haven't really thought about it, honestly."

He smiled. "We'll go and look at it and if you like it, we'll get it
installed. You know what? Tes is right next door, we could talk to
Master Bilpen about putting in a communicating door that can be closed
from either side that way the kids can come and go without running
outside in the hallways. What do you think?"

"A door between the weyrs, would make sense I guess." She knew Teseada
was right next door and N'call's excitement was clear. "If this Master
Bilpen will do it. I suppose that would be helpful and keep the
children from running through the hall." It would also make it seem
like the two separate weyrs were together. How exactly would that
work?

"I'll see about asking him," N'call said and kissed the top of her
head. "it will also mean we can have some privacy now and then."

**We had privacy before.** The thought was pushed aside as she leaned
against him and nodded. "Sure, whatever you think is best." Ninaine
looked up at him, her eyes a bit hopeful. "Do you think you could stay
with me tonight? We've not shared a bed overnight in so long and I miss
sleeping next to you. The children should be installed with a
foster mother tomorrow, if you'd rather wait and stay with Teseada
tonight."

He chuckled and stroked the side of her face. "How can I resist those
eyes? You don't know how much I've missed you and the kids."

"What do you think?" He asked their daughter who was still perched on his hip.

"Daddy stay!" She threw small arms around N'call's neck, squeezing him
tight. "I miss you! I want stories and ni ni hugs and kisses!"

"We've missed you so much, N'call. All of us." Ninaine rubbed her
cheek against his palm, a feeling of warmth and relief finally
blooming in her chest. She wanted some return to normalcy, to the
regular warmth of his presence in both her and their children's lives.
She wanted to wake up in his arms again, feel his warmth beside her
and not feel that he had to rush to leave, or even that he wanted to
hurry and leave. He felt like home to her and whatever it took, she
wanted to keep that feeling.

"Let me grab a few things and we'll have a nice family dinner tonight.
How does that sound?"

"That sounds perfect." For the first time in a long time, Ninaine felt
a sense of contentment and real happiness.
