Talwynn was sitting with Riveth up near the Star Stones, jotting down observations. Or she was supposed to be doing so. At dusk, she'd taken needed measurements. Now, she was just watching the progression of stars through the sky, and thinking about how she and D'kere felt like they were on thin ice.
They had had that vicious argument over that sharding weyrling, where she'd simmered at him for even _considering_ sleeping with her. She was still sore about it - he had wanted to be exclusive weyrmates, he'd wanted her to move in, so why in the name of golden eggs would he possibly want to be with some other girl now? She'd complained about it to T'leri till her brother told her to go to sleep because he had drills in the morning and he couldn't go to them if he punched out D'kere.
But then Riveth had risen, and he'd won her flight. And she was glad of it in the end, because afterwards, they'd had a good conversation and she'd felt like he listened to her. There was more she wanted to say, and on a separate piece of hide she was jotting down ideas of ways she could bring up her feelings to him.
Riveth huffed as she felt her rider's thoughts run in circles. }:Why are things complicated with Kenirath's?:{
**Because rider relationships are messy.**
}:He caught me. I am his. You are his rider's. It is simple,:{ the green disagreed.
Talwynn wished it could be as easy as Riveth wanted it to be. She tried to think of how to explain it to her green. **Maybe if I tell him that given how hard it was for me to agree to weyrmate, because it felt like I was giving up my freedoms, and the idea was it was an equal trade because we both were, and then it seemed suddenly he wanted to go back on that, and it made me feel like I wasn't good enough for him, and _that_ made me feel vulnerable, and scared, and unworthy...** she mused. **How does that sound?** she asked Riveth.
The green was silent.
**Riveth?** Talwynn prodded, noticing that her green seemed very distracted.
Riveth was. She was busy listening to the Weyrwoman's own dragon.
}: Riveth, please tell your rider that she will report to her own weyr this evening. Kenirath's rider is in isolation. Your rider will not communicate with Kenirath's. She may be called for questioning in the morning.:{ Chioneth said to Riveth.
Riveth relayed it to Talwynn, who sat up straighter. Report to her own weyr? But she'd moved in with D'kere. And why was he in isolation? Why would she be called for questioning? What had _happened_?
}:We share a weyr,:{ Riveth said to Chioneth, puzzled. }:Should mine go to Girath's instead?:{
}:Yes or you may stay in a guest weyr.:{ The gold said.
**A guest weyr?** Talwynn was getting more and more agitated. She crumpled in her bad hand the hide she had been writing comments for D'kere on. She wasn't allowed home to her own weyr - no speaking to D'kere - what the shells had happened? She needed to know, and it sounded like she wouldn't find out.
}:We will comply,:{ the green told Chioneth, her mindvoice agitated.
There was no reply from the Weyrwoman's dragon, but the message was understood. From her weyr, where she had finally retreated once more, Saibra had thought of Talwynn after she had dismissed Yasmene, Kaibren, and D'kere. She would need to ask the greenrider questions, but if D'kere got to his weyrmate first.... Well, Saibra wanted to make sure that Talwynn's testimony was as unbiased as possible, not an easy feat when dealing with weyrmates.
Talwynn leaned against Riveth's hide and fretted. Her thoughts about explaining to D'kere why she'd felt so threatened by the earlier conversation were washed away by her new concerns. What was going _on_?
**Can you talk to Kenirath?** she asked Riveth. She'd been told not to see D'kere, but had Riveth and Kenirath been ordered by queens not to speak?
Kenirath was lying on his weyrledge, confused as to why Chioneth had grounded him and ordered him to make sure his rider did not leave his weyr. The bronze had been lying quite contentedly earlier with Riveth, before she took her rider up to the Star Stones.
}:We can talk,:{ Kenirath answered Riveth's question when it came. }:Although, I don't have any information. My rider is mostly fretting and pacing the weyr, but he won't tell me any details. He says he's not allowed.:{
}:My rider is scared yours is hurt. I want to be with you. I don't know what is happening.:{ RRiveth shifted on the ledge.
}:He is not hurt,:{ Kenirath assured the green. He also wanted to be with her, he had just won her flight, after all, and wanted his mate nearby. }:I don't know for sure what is happening, either, but Chioneth seemed to imply that it would all be sorted out tomorrow.:{
}:I hope it is so we can go back to sharing our ledge,:{ Riveth fretted. }:I will tell my rider that much.:{ she added as she passed it on to Talwynn.
The greenrider decided she couldn't wait any longer, trying to work. She packed up her notes, and rode Riveth down to T'leri's weyrledge. She'd sleep there tonight, and that way tomorrow would come as soon as possible, and then she would know exactly what was going on.
