Jayzine stood back and looked at the building with a half smile and a
rare twinkle in her eyes as she walked toward the main entrance with
Miyon's small hand in hers.

"Momma? Are we moving in today," he asked. He'd been asking that same
question for the last week. Every single day.

"Yes baby," she smiled down at him and lightly squeezed his hand. In
her other she carried a small crystal vase full of the flowers he'd
picked for her just yesterday. "We're going to go put my beautiful
flowers on my desk and then the drudges will bring our furs from the
tents.

She started up the path and around the curved of the building with its
glittering windows and warm brick facade. The soil around the building
was sitll a bit torn up from all the construction work but she'd make
certain they had herb beds and a nice vegetable garden soon enough.
She walked down the open colonnade toward the front door.

Bilpen came out through the wide double doors and held it open to her.
"Welcome Home," he boomed in his huge voice with an equally huge smile.

"Thank you," she smiled back and walked in the door of her new domain.
There were woodsmiths still setting up the many tables, benches and
chairs in the dining area and she could tell the kitchen was also
occupied from the scrape of pans and sound of voices.

"Sounds like your wife is in charge back there," she lifted an amused brow.

He shrugged a single shoulder and followed her into the great hall.
"She knows what you want. She told me she should have lunch ready for
all the workers right on schedule," he added.

"I'm sure she'll be happy enough with a professionally designed
kitchen rather than that rigged hearth we had in the middle of the
tents." Jayzine headed for the stairs and up to the second floor with
her son and the vase of flowers.

At the head of the stairs on the next floor were the staff offices,
including hers. Through doors to the right and left were the other
workers dormitories. Males on one side and females on the other.
Married couple had their own entrance from the other end of the hall.
That was her first stop so she turned in the door and took a long
moment to appreciate the beauty that had been created by the various
construction crafters. The smith's had built stands for the ceramic
braziers in offices to provide warmth and a convenient place to keep
her pot of klah warm during the colder months. A beautiful fireplace
stood on one wall though no fire had been laid.

She let go of Miyon's hand and he went running into the next room. "No
jumping on the beds," she called after him. She carried her small
vase to the desk and set it near the window. She still needed to add
touches like curtains, but the view out the window was of the Weyrbowl
and the dragonhealers tents across the wide expanse.

She listened for a moment for the sound of Jielta's voice where she was
making up her own room in their suite that adjoined her office when
she heard someone at the door.

"Do you like the desk," Bilpen's voice asked her and she turned.

"I do," she smiled at him. Her fingers brushed the cherry wood and the
brightly polished finish glowed. "It is beautiful."

He nodded and winked at her. He'd built this and several others for
the Weyr and Wing leaders' offices. But he'd spent some extra time
with inlay for the edges of the Headwoman's and Weyrwoman's
desks. It seemed to add a feminine touch to them making them quite
different from the heavily carved oak of the others.

She turned to the beautifully carved fireplace lintel. "Are they all
this lovely?"

"I let the craftsmen be creative as long as they met the deadlines,"
he nodded. "Senior staff rooms are more ornate than the dormitory
rooms but even there, we had some journeymen showing off their
skills," he chuckled.

"I think I'll put my chessboard right here," she indicated the space
in front of the hearth where there were a couple of well padded
chairs. "Could I have a small table right here to hold it?"

"I'm sure I can come up with one for you fairly quickly," Bilpen
smiled and pulled out a scrap of hide to make a note. "I have an
apprentice with an eye for small pieces of furniture. I have him
assembling tables for between the beds in the candidate rooms
upstairs. We've got quite the assembly line putting the beds, chests,
and tables together.

"Well, thank you Master Bilpen," Jayzine nodded to the big man as he
left. A moment later a pair of drudges came through carrying her
chest and bags of her things. She directed them through the side door
into her quarters to deposit them. "Why don't you two go pick out
your beds and get your own things transferred."

She turned back to the window one last time and smiled. She was back!
She took a deep breath and blew it out slowly. "Alright," she said "let's do
this."
