Description: Green Ashareth rises.
Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr
Date: month 9, day 28 of Turn 9
To some folks at Dolphin Cove sixty-three degrees was chilly, or
downright cold, but for Saidrene, who had experienced the actual cold
at Dragonsfall, sixty-three was still comfortable enough to stretch
out on the beach and enjoy the sunshine.
The waves rolling up onto the beach sparkled in the sunshine and a
constant breeze accompanied them as they dissolved onto the sand in a
wash of white foam. Nothing could ruin this moment, this small piece
of relaxation in between practice and duties... Nothing except-
}:Catch me if you can!:{ Ashareth challenged, bugling at the top of
her lungs, which echoed down the beach.
Saidrene jerked upright, "Ashareth!" A bit more warning would have been nice?
The greenrider jerked her towel around her shoulders, shoved her feet
into her leather sandals, and jogged toward the flight room.
When Uljath declared his intention to chase and _catch_ the glowing
green, A'be started to feel bit of panic. Uljath had not chased
before, what was he supposed to do? What if he really caught her?
Would A'be embarrass himself with the rider? He was not very
experienced.
He remembered seeing people gather to the feeding pens during Flights,
so that's where he headed out too. Seeing Sh'dori and Rahmuth join the
growing group of chasers made his mood sink even further. Sh'dori was
experienced, had caught many greens, what chances had young pair like
he and Uljath have against them?
Sh'dori gave A'be a wave and encouraging wink. The lad was family after all.
}:Ashareth rises!:{ came Bowth's eager announcement. }:I will fly her.:{
R'ollic sighed and closed the lids on his paints, glad at least that
he'd barely gotten started. He took a moment to make sure his brush
was clean of the little bit of paint he'd managed to get on it and
then covered the canvas with a cloth. He might not be able to get back
to it for some time and he didn't want to risk sand particles getting
stuck to it. Everytime he had a few moments to himself for his hobby,
something came up. It didn't help that his blue seemed determined to
catch every green that flew, despite his poor record of success.
}:I will catch this one,:{ was the blue's confident reply to his
rider's thoughts.
The bluerider just hoped it would be a quick flight. Not that he would
mind if Bowth won it, of course. It would make the dragon happy and
would be enjoyable for him as well, but he'd hoped to finish this
painting today and the light sun was perfect right now. He sighed
again, releasing his tension and letting his dragon's excitement
course through him as he joined the group of riders making their way
toward the flight room.
Rogueth recognized the challenge from Ashareth and responded to it. He
had seen the green's flight performance in his wing, knew her to be
nimble and clever, and he *wanted* to claim her. The bronze responded
with his own call of challenge.
K'ran thought to himself that he wished he could ban Rogueth from
chasing the greens in his wing. He already found dealing with women
after a flight success awkward enough, even though he knew
intellectually it was all the dragons' decisions. If it was someone
from another wing it was easy enough to avoid them for a few days. But
one of his wingriders who he was responsible for? Far more awkward...
The green, who had fed heavily the day before, bypassed the feeding
pens entirely and rocketed into the sky, forgetting all about the
males completely as she reveled in her speed and agility.
Saidrene half-stumbled into the flight room, dropping the towel from
her scantily clad form in the process as she lost touch with her
physical surroundings, and joined Ashareth in the sky.
R'ollic arrived right after the greenrider and almost tripped over the
towel, his mind barely connected to his actual body as his blue dragon
launched himself up after the green. He managed to keep to his feet,
but only by grabbing onto the arm of someone standing nearby. He
didn't notice and had no idea if the other person noticed either.
Sh'dori patted the arm of the man who grabbed him. He wasn't really
paying attention to him, his mind merged with Rahmuth's. The brown
declared his admiration and undying love (that lasted untill the
Flight was over) for Ashareth.
A'be forgot all his worries when the bond between him and Uljath
really snapped in to excistence and the dragon's flight lust was all
he could feel.
L'cor trotted out to the flight rooms just in time to step into place
around the greenrider. He didn't even see who it was before he became
Tonuth and chased the fleet green with the rest of the pack.
K'ran saw Saidrene's towel fall and her figure be revealed, and he
drew in a sudden breath of need for her, amplified and fueled by
Rogueth's desire for the glowing form of Ashareth above. The bronze
dragon winged his way through the sky after her, crooning his
adoration and his need for her.
Ashareth barrel-rolled through the clouds, the moisture causing her
hide to glisten and glow in the sunlight. The space above the clouds
was so freeing and wide open. She could go anywhere and do anything!
There was nothing that could stop her! Thrilled by her own speed and
agility, the green curled her wings tight to her body and plummeted,
free-falling before whipping her wings back out to slow descent.
Trumpeting in joy, Ashareth began another steep climb in the sky to do
it again.
Tonuth knew he couldn't follow her closely so he rolled and rose
waiting for her to return to the clouds. His desire rose to a fever
pitch and he bugled his admiration for her speed and agility before
hiding in a cloud in her path.
Bowth had been flying just behind and to the right of the desirable
green, tracking her movements with a keen eye. He veered in her
direction when her dive took her below his level and hoped to
intercept her on the way back up.
Uljath had been faithfully following and copying the green's every
move. As a result, the young blue was tiring himself. He yet lacked
the experience to preserve his strength. Despite the ache of his
wings, he stubbornly hold on and stayed on the trail of Ashareth.
Rahmuth had the experience, he didn't even try to match her twists and
turns. He was trying to figure out her patterns, so he could
anticipate her moves and cut to intercept her. But she didn't seem to
have a pattern. The brown was patient tho. If nothing else, she would
get exhausted and he would still have plenty of strength left.
Rogueth saw her dive and instead of chasing her down, he flew higher
up, towards a cloud bank he could use as cover. She would not let
herself be caught so low. That would be too soon and end to the flight
and surely the green was smarter than that. He looked around at his
rivals - Bowth and Rahmuth close by, and then where was the other
bronze gone? he didn't see him, but he would find the prize instead.
He saw Ashareth break back up and he tensed, waiting for her, waiting.
If she flew in a flight, like she flew in the wing... She came up and
went to dive again, and he lunged forward, shouldering past a blue and
raking forward with his talons to seize the green. He bugled triumph
and he flared his wings to slow them.
On the ground, K'ran's need blindly mirroring Rogueth's. All concerns
about her being his wingrider melted, swept away in the exultation of
winning. He reached for Saidrene, pulling her up and off the ground
to stagger them to the cots.
A'be wasn't sure if he was relieved or disappointed when he stumbled away.
Sh'dori took his loss in a stride. He just snatched a closest flight
month. "Up to little fun, darling?" he asked.
