Description: A visit to the Senior Weyrwoman
Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr
Date: month 2, day 1 of Turn 9

Cyradis

Cyradis

U'kaiah ducked into one of the public bathing chambers just long
enough to borrow one of the mirrors. All buttons refastened in their
proper order. Collar flat. Knots adjusted. Hair mussed, but it
usually was so no worries there, but he did run his fingers through it
a couple times to be sure. All ready to meet the Weyrwoman.

Panitath assured Cyradis that Kalamath had landed and dropped off his
rider so she was a bit surprised when it took a bit longer than
expected for him to arrive. However, she was patient and willed her
foot to stop tapping.

The bronzerider straightened his jacket once more before knocking on
her door. He opened the door at her summons and greeted her with a
broad smile. "Lady Cyradis," he said with a polite bow. They had met
previously both in official and casual capacities, but it had been a
while.

"Lord U'kaiah," she smiled back at him. "It's good to see you again."
She moved to the more comfortable couch and chairs. "Would you like
anything to drink?"

"I would love whatever you're having, thank you." He took a seat in
one of the chairs and took a quick glance around her office. "Dolphin
Cove seems to be doing well. My compliments to you and your
Weyrleader."

She went to pour him a small glass of citroncello and brought it back
with a small smile. "I wanted to thank you and Hygalia for sending
those candidates for the gold egg."

He took the offered glass with an acknowledging nod. "It is merely a
sign of our own gratitude for the generosity you've shown our Weyr.
The riders you sent are bringing a lot of experience and stability to
their Wings."

"We serve Pern, you and I," she said as she lifted her glass to him.
"How is Hygalia?"

The bronzerider returned the salute and took a sip. Shards, that was
good! Different, but good. "She's well and sends her greetings and
her thanks as well." He took another sniff of the liquid in his
glass. "What is this?"

She smiled. "It's called citroncello. My father was a Master Vintner.
It's one of his recipes." Cyradis looked at his collar curiously where
there seemed to be a... her eyes went back to his face. "Please give
her my best. How's Tavia?"

Dragonsfall territory was not exactly citrus growing territory, so it
was a new taste to the bronzerider, but it was certainly pleasant.
"Tavia? She's... Good. She's doing well." He still was not sure
where he and the greenrider stood, but they were holding on. He
choose the steer the conversation back to more stable ground. "A
Master Vintner? At the Hall?"

"Good to hear," she was certainly hoping for their happiness. "Yes,"
she nodded at his question. "I grew up there. You know, before the
earthquake." That was definitely a developing love bite on his neck.
**Oh Kapera,** she sighed internally. In so many ways she had matured
but this one seemed beyond her control. "I was seventeen when Panitath
claimed me on the Sands at Dragonsfall. How did your visit with Kapera
go," she covered her smile with a sip of her drink but knew she
couldn't hide the twinkle in her eyes.

"It was... nice. It was good to catch up." He couldn't quite figure
out why she was looking at him that way. It was a little unnerving so
he thought a change in subject might be best. "You know, I remember
when you Impressed. It's the first Hatching I can definitely
remember. Probably because a gold was such a rare thing back then."

"Yes," she smiled and then she couldn't help it any more. "U'kaiah,
you have a love bite on your neck. I'm glad you had a nice time with
Kapera. Did you get any business done?"

The bronzerider could actually feel his face growing hotter. He
reached up and fingered the notch in his ear nervously. Shards, his
own body betray him! There was no way to deny it without flat out
lying. And really, why should he deny it? They were both adults...
"We knew each other well when she was my Weyrwoman. We were just
catching up on things..."

She started laughing and waved a hand. "You don't have to explain to
me," she said. "I know our Kapera pretty well. She likes to... catch
up." There was no need for her to say more. She was just amused by her
seconds intense sexuality. She herself was far more satisfied with her
very intense and fulfilling relationship with K'deren. "It's just
very... visible. So I thought you should be aware."

"We multi-task well," he shrugged, though his grin grew a bit more
cocky. U'kaiah certainly never made a secret of the fact that he had
his fair share of success with goldriders. Though he had slowed down
over the Turns in his pursuit of them. It didn't seem nearly as worth
his time when he had Tavia and Aileyan. "Thank you for the warning."

"No problem," she smiled back at him. "So you were a weyrbrat at
Dragonsfall back when I Impressed?" She went back to the prior
subject.

"I was," he nodded. "I believe I would have been about six Turns when
you found your gold on the Sands."

She shook her head smiling. "It seems such a long time ago. I was
petrified the first time I stepped on the Sands."

"How many times did you Stand?" he asked curiously. Usually Hold and
Hall girls only agreed to come for gold eggs back then.

"Just the once," she said. "But though I had my birthingday just a few
days before the hatching, I still felt very small next to all those
dragons and the crowds who came to watch the hatching. It was pretty
overwhelming for a Hall girl."

"Well, even when you are born the Weyr, the first time on the Sands
with everything happening all around you, it can be a bit of a shock."
U'kaiah wondered how Kaiafel was going to handle it. His turn was
coming soon. Very soon. "Do you have children?"

"Oh yes," she smiled and spread her fingers. "Five of them."

"Wow." She certainly didn't look like she was the mother of five!
"Have any of them been on the Sands?"

"Yes, my son R'nar, Impressed bronze from Panitath's last clutch." She
smiled. "He's the second eldest. Lonrad decided not to stand but to go
back to Vintner Hall."

"Congratulations." She must have been quite proud in that moment.
"My son will probably Stand in the next Hatching at Dragonsfall. I
have no idea what to expect to watch as a parent."

"Just count the experience all joy," she smiled. "Your son certainly will."
