Lanniya

Lanniya

She hadn't been to his weyr before, but she knew where it was. She
didn't know how he was going to take it, especially since they'd both
been to busy to address that incident in the storage closet. But, he
was still her friend and he should know, at least, she hoped he was
still her friend. Taking a breath to steel herself, she knocked on
F'lin's door.

It opened a moment later. F'lin looked surprised to see her, but
gestured her in anyway. He hadn't been expecting anyone but Lanniya
would have been the last on his list of people who would show up
unannounced. "Come on in, Lanniya."

"Hi." She replied, stepping past him into his weyr. She looked around,
sucking in her lower lip as she turned to look up at him. "Do you have
time to talk?"

He shrugged, wishing he'd taken the time to tidy up a little that
evening. There were hides littering his small table and sweaty riding
leathers hung on a wooden rack in the corner. A bunch of glasses and
plates he'd meant to take back to the kitchens were piled next to the
door. Half his belongings were still in trunks from the move from
River Bluff. "Sure. I was just finishing up some hidework, but I could
use a break. Want me to see if the kitchens will send up some juice or
something? I wasn't expecting guests so I don't really have anything
to offer you..."

**He needed to let a drudge in to clean the place,** she thought
before she shook her head. "No, it's okay. I know you weren't
expecting me. I kinda popped in so you couldn't avoid me." Her cheeks
flushed at the admittance and she ran her damp hands over her thighs.
"I won't be long, I just want to let you know..." She sighed and
decided it was just better to come out with it. "Cyradis is
transferring me after the Hatching. I'm going to Dragonsfall. They
need another queen and I'm the youngest, so..." She shrugged.

F'lin sank onto the nearest chair, his head whirling. Lanniya had been
transferred to Dolphin Cove only six months ago... why did it have to
be _her_ that had to leave? Why couldn't it be a junior goldrider from
Vista Point or Windswept that went to Dragonsfall instead? "Wow....
um. That's... really soon. How do you feel about it?"

"I know." She watched him as she stood, shifting from foot to foot. "I
guess I'll have to accept it. I don't want to leave my friends or my
sister, but it's not about what I want, I guess." K'ale had been going
to transfer to Dolphin Cove to be with her, so one good thing would
be she could still be with him. "I'll miss it here." She again chewed
on her lower lip. "And I'll miss you too."

"I'll miss you, too." He regretted avoiding her, now. F'lin sighed and
ran his hands through his hair. "When do you have to go?"

"After the Hatching." She paused and watched him for another long
moment. "Will you really?"

"Miss you?" The bronzerider was silent a moment, studying her. Trying
to lock the way she looked into his memory. There was no good reason
to miss Lanniya after all the trouble she'd caused him, but the
thought of her gone from Dragonsfall made Dolphin Cove feel that much
lonelier. She was a bright spot in a dark Turn. "You drive me crazy,
you know that? And yes, I'll miss you."

"Me? What did I do?" Lanniya objected, confused. "You kissed me. And
then you ignored me. How do I drive you crazy? It should be the other
way around."

"You _exist_. That's maddening enough." And she was leaving. F'lin
rose and took her hands, not sure if he wanted to kiss her or throttle
her. "Can't you tell Cyradis you don't want to transfer? She could
change her mind."

If he hadn't taken her hands, they would have flown to her hips.
Instead she just looked up at him, her brow furrowed. "You're not
making any sense." She paused and then sighed. "She can't change her
mind, F'lin, even if I told her that. She can't transfer Kapera
because if anything happened to her, I'd be next in line and I'm not
experienced enough. Dragonsfall needs another junior gold and that's
me. I can't go against what's best for the Weyrs again." She tried for
a bit of a smile. "Besides, then I'll be out of your hair and I guess
I won't drive you crazy."

"Maybe I don't want that," he said quietly.

She withdrew her hands from his and hand to reach to lay her hands on
his cheeks. "You're a very odd man. " She shook her head and standing
on her tiptoes, wrapped her arms around his neck to give him a hug.

She smelled like summertime. F'lin closed his eyes and wrapped his
arms around her, pulling her close and pretending that they were back
at River Bluff Weyr before all of this had happened. His throat
tightened at the thought of her leaving. Their relationship had become
so strained after she'd ignored his advice and /betweened/ through
time. They weren't close so it shouldn't matter that she was
reassigned to Dragonsfall Weyr, but it did. And F'lin was tired of
losing.

For Lanniya, that tight hug began to heal the hurt that had knotted in
her stomach ever since he started avoiding her. She adored the man and
it had bothered her that their relationship had fractured so badly.
Her cheek pressed against hers. "You have to promise me something."
Her voice was a soft whisper. "The next time Anaeryth rises, can you
try to be there?" She pulled back just a little to look at his face,
wondering if perhaps she was the one who had gone too far this time.

**And maybe finally catch gold.** And catch the goldrider too. "Call
and we'll come running." Greatly daring, he bent to kiss her.

She didn't pull away and she didn't try to avoid the kiss. Instead,
she met him half-way, pressing her mouth to his. This time she didn't
have any doubts or fears. The chemistry she had with F'lin had to mean
something and she wanted to find out.

Her lips were soft and obliging. Being alone with the goldrider in his
weyr wasn't a good idea. Lanniya was weyrmated. She'd made that
abundantly clear the last time they'd spoken. But it was hard to
remember - or care - with the way her body pressed against his. He
kissed her with a thoroughness that let her know that he knew what he
was doing, and that he planned on taking his time with it.

She melted against him with a sigh against his mouth. She had a moment
of memory of him saying he liked her rear while she was sunbathing, so
with deliberation, she slipped her hands from around his neck, gripped
his own hands in hers and slid them to her bottom. She murmured
against his mouth, "You can touch now, " before sliding her hands away
to tangle them in his hair.

She was maddening. Desire built up in him with shocking speed as he
pulled her hips firmly against his. Sense went out the window as her
shirt rode up and his thumb hit the soft, bare skin of her back, just
above the swell of her bottom. Her rear fit perfectly into the palms
of his hands, just like he'd imagined. She tasted too good. Felt too
good.

Feeling the evidence of exactly how much F'lin wanted her made her
toss whatever reservations she might have had right off of his weyr
ledge. With a groan, she rocked her hips against his in open
invitation while she reached to tug up his shirt with a free hand. The
skin along his side and back was heated and felt marvelously smooth,
muscular and firm. She wanted exactly what he was offering.

F'lin groaned, suddenly frustrated by how much cloth lay between them.
He walked her backward with dim thoughts of his bed, but he missed the
mark and walked her into his couch instead. His knees buckled and he
pulled her down on top of him, his hands sliding up under her tunic.
Her skin was hot to touch as he nibbled down the arch of her neck.

Panting, Lanniya gave a soft "oof" as they hit the couch. Just as
frustrated with the barriers between them, her hips never stopped
rocking as she tried to get some measure of relief from the sudden
surge of pure need that hit when his lips touched her neck. Leaning
back, she whipped her shirt off, tossing it to the side and then
grabbed the hem of his own, wrestling it off of him and tossed it in
the other direction. Her hands met his chest, stroked his skin for
just a moment and then rose off of the couch. Her eyes never leaving
him, she tugged at the laces of her trousers and let them fall off of
her, only to be kicked to the side.Hardly giving him a moment to look
at her, she was back on his lap, completely naked.

"Shells." She was so beautiful. F'lin wrapped his arms around her and
kissed her hard, enjoying the feel of a very naked woman in his lap.
His hands wandered down to grip her butt and hold her against him. The
way she moved echoed his own need and her skin was tantalizingly soft
against his calloused palms. He suddenly stood, lifting her with him,
and then dumped her back on the couch before struggling to get rid of
his own, too-tight trousers. Something ripped, he didn't care what.
F'lin kicked the fabric aside and lay down beside her, grabbing one of
her arms and pinning it over her head. "You really shouldn't go to
Dragonsfall Weyr," he said, his voice husky.

Feeling his heat beside her was alluring, as was having her arm pinned
over her head. Why wasn't he touching more than just her arm? It was
frustrating. She lay back on the couch, squirming against the warmth
of him at her side, and turned her face to his, a flush coming to her
cheeks and spreading down to her chest. "F'lin.." It was a whimper and
a plea all at once. "Please."

It was so good to hear her call his name. What was a bronzerider do
but give in? F'lin moved against her, taking what he wanted and giving
what he could, lost in the slip of skin against skin. He let himself
drown in her, taking his pleasure and doing his best to take her down
with him. He'd hoped for Turns in the same Weyr together, but if he
only had the one night then he'd do his best to make her wonder, for
the rest of her life, what it would be like if she'd stayed.
