Characters: F'lian
Description: F'lian and his friend say goodbye for now.
Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr
Date: month 10, day 8 of Turn 3

F'lian kicked pebbles by the lake. It had been a long day and he was tired, but he couldn't sleep.

"The first day is always the hardest," a voice behind him said.

F'lian spun surprised. "C'nitak!" Part of him wanted to hug the bluerider but he was mindful of Garmth.

The bluerider could see the look in his lover's eyes. He wanted to touch him too, to celebrate this happy moment together. "She's a beautiful little green, you know."

"Of course she is." he laughed. "The most beautiful in the clutch." He looked past his lover for a moment, "I guess this is it for us, until she's older I mean."

C'nitak shrugged resignedly, trying to hide his regret at the unavoidable lack of intamcey. "I suppose so. It's only fair. I had my months of celibacy before."

"It'll pass quickly thought won't it?" his tone was hopeful.

"For you, yes. It will drag on the first month, but then it goes so fast you won't believe it's over." Of course, it would much harder for him. "But... F'lian... I won't be so busy. You and I, we were...
never exclusive."

F'lian half smiled. "I know C'nitak. Just try not to forget about us hu?"

The bluerider reached for the weyrling's hand. "How can I forget, Ferli? You mean so much to me. It's just... Well, I don't want to make any promises that I know I won't keep."

F'lian squeezed his friends hand. That little couldn't hurt and Gramth was sleeping deeply. "It's all right. I knew if I impressed it would be this way. We both did."

"But someday," C'nitak smiled, "your little green will be all grown up. And then think what fun we might have."

F'lian had to grin. "To tell you the truth, the thougt crossed my mind on the sands."

The bluerider ran his fingers through the weyrling's short brown hair. "It won't be forever. Senior weyrling hood is only four months away. And I'll still be here counting down the days."

F'lian smiled at the famillair touch. "I should, I should go." He wanted to do anything else "I've been warned she'll be up eraly and hungery."

"That she will. Take care of each other, ok?" The bluerider let go of his lover's hand reluctantly.

"I will. Good night C'nirak." his smile was sad.

"Why don't we meet up next rest day so I can meet your little beauty in person." C'nitak smiled at him knowingly. "And I can introduce her to mine." It was never too early for them to make friends after all.

"He didn't tell you? They've already met. She said he was nice."

"No, he didn't," the bluerider laughed. "Of course, leave it to him to introduce himself to all the new greens."

"Well she won't remember in a day or or two so we should meet. I really need to go, I don't want to get in trouble."

"Of course not," C'nitak nodded, but his eyes told him that he didn't want him to go. "Until the rest day then?"

"I, we'll see you then." he smiled at his friend.
