Description: Letters between friends.
Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr, Emerald Falls Hold
Date: month 13, day 11 of Turn 8
Jayzine looked down at the parchment's she gotten from the Harper Hall
for her letter writing and smiled softly. She loved to write but had
had little time to do the correspondence she'd wanted while at the
Weyr. But now, she had a small space of time for at least one. So she
dipped her pen and began.

My dear friend,
I hope life is treating you more kindly than when I last saw you. I
am sure that Dolphin Cove has excellent healers who will take good
care of you. Please make sure you follow their instructions and don't
chafe at the restrictions they put upon your activities.
I have heard they are keeping your Wing together, so that must be a
relief. I know you worried about your riders and how they would all
fit in at the new location.
I've landed fairly well at Emerald Falls. Almost upon my arrival Lord
Corowal offered me the position of Headwoman here. I am most
gratified. He seems a strong leader. I know that is just my opinion
but with all the rumors of unrest here I have yet to see evidence of
it.
Our Riverbluff Baker also came along so he's been able to keep his
promise to teach Jielta. I know it's not ideal but she is happier here
than she would have going back to Vintner Hall I think.
Little Miyon has found some friends and is busily exploring the Hold
and then telling me all about it.
Of course, there is some stress here with the passing of the Lady
Holder. I'm still finding my way around the Hold and without her
guidance it is a little difficult. The Lord disappeared for a bit
after and you should have seen the guards scuttling around trying to
find him.
Well, I'm running out of room so I will close now. Please write soon
to let me know how you fare.
Yours
Jayzine

With his arm in a sling, it was impossible to write a letter in
response, so K'ran had to resort to dictating it to a Candidate who
was happy to do the job for him. It means he was careful with his
words and what he said but perhaps that was a good thing. The
Candidate had Weavers knots but his penmanship was excellent.
Dear Jayzine,
The Dolphin Cove Healers are very skilled. They say that I have
overexerted myself and my shoulder and I am back into the sling.
Originally it was thought to be a dislocation but now they think it is
a break in a bone. I am taking many a Healer's potion to deal with it
and suffering under a poultice but it is worth it to eventually be
well.
I am proud of Rapids Wing and I hope they settle in here well. It is
very kind of Weyrleader N'vanik to have kept the Wing together instead
of fragmenting it up. I believe they need each other's support.
Another bronzerider will be leading them with F'lin supporting him. I
am hoping to fly by month 1 but we will see how Rogueth and I both
heal. He keeps forgetting he is injured and I worry he will make it
worse.
I am glad to hear Emerald Falls is strong and you like it there. I'm
impressed that Lord Corowal offered you the position. I hope you find
working in the job at a Hold as exciting as it was at a Weyr. I
imagine it is both very similar and very very different. It is awful
that tragedy is marring the Hold right now.
I hope to come by and visit you soon. I will beg a ride from someone
to drop by, it would be good to get out of one place and it is
frustrating to not take myself.
Warm regards,
K'ran
He read over the letter when the Candidate handed it to him, thinking
he would have liked to say more about the situation with F'lin but he
didn't want personal inter-Wing business going out where anyone could
hear it. This would have to do.
