Pleasantries had always been a little awkward. Aileyan wasn't much of a talker, and J'nev really wasn't there for the conversation, anyway. After a few obligatory moments of small talk, J'nev brushed back her now dry hair and, bracing his arm against the sofa behind her, leaned in to kiss her neck just below her ear.

Aileyan let out a little appreaciative murmur. As lovers go, he was passable. He didn't have U'kaiah's imagination or skills, but it was something only experience would bring.

The young bronzerider, for his part, took her vocalizations as a good sign. Encouraged by her apparent enthusiasm, he pulled up her tunic just enough that he could slip his hand underneath as he moved his lips along her jaw to her delicate mouth.

Aileyan nibbled his lip a little, waiting to see how he reacted to it.

Shards, it felt good when a girl did that! J'nev could definitely feel the effect it was having on his body, and he moved her hand so she could feel it, too, as his fingers wandered in a similar direction on her.

Aileyan slipped her hands under his tunic, giving the belt of his trousers a tug.

J'nev took the hint and made short work of the belt, and the buttons besides. He very happily invited her hand inside before reaching out to pull her close once more to go to trail kisses along her jaw line.

"Um..." A throat cleared. "Aileyan?"

"Eeep!" Aileyan was startled and hastily pushed J'nev away from her. She sat up straight, looking around for the intruder. "K-Kaiafel?" her face went from pale to deep red blush.

J'nev quickly grabbed a pillow to cover himself with, too shocked by the sight of a young boy that appeared out of nowhere to be angry. Had her son come home? He had been under the impression her kid was younger...

Kaiafel turned his head away from them to stare at the stone floor, his arms crossed over his chest uncomfortably. "I knocked. You didn't answer," he mumbled. Having been raised in the Weyr, seeing a level of intimacy in public that was not usually seen in Hold or Hall was quite normal, and usually children didn't notice or even care. Recently Kaiafel had started to notice more and more. He wasn't sure why seeing Aileyan enjoying her company made him feel so strange. It was very confusing.

Aileyan was feeling very embarrassed and more than little ashamed. She knew she had no reason for shame, she was grown woman and free to do what ever she wanted with men. She couldn't help the feeling though and this was _Kaiafel_. His approval was very important to her and she felt he had let him down.

"Sorry, I didn't hear it. What are you doing here, Kaiafel?" Aileyan pulled together whatever dregs there was left of her dignity. What she really wanted to do was to cover her face and groan. This was horrible. Why didn't the Weyr's have lockable doors?

"Ravyan forgot Dago. He can't sleep." The little boy always wanted his stuffed dragon at bedtime. They were usually very good about making sure he had his little friend when he packed his things for an overnight stay, but this time he had somehow been left behind.

"Yes, he wouldn't be able to sleep without it, just a sec, I'll find it," Aileyan shot up too quickly, gave J'nev an embarrassed glance and hurried to Ravyan's alcove. After moment of searching, she found the toy, under bundled bedfur.

As Aileyan was hunting for the toy, J'nev and Kaiafel were left alone. The bronzerider was a little confused and uncomfortable on several levels. "So you're Aileyan's son?"

"No," Kaiafel said matter of factly, looking at the rider for the first time. "I'm her son's brother."

"I see..." If he had been in the Hold still, J'nev would have wondered how that could possibly be if he were not also Aileyan's son, but this was a Weyr. They must have shared a father. "Well, I'm Aileyan's friend."

Kaiafel knew who all the bronzeriders in the Weyr were, but even more so he remembered very clearly watching the bronzerider Impress Ankioth on the Sands several Turns before. It had been the Clutch his own father's Kalamath had sired with Onnyth. Kaiafel would never forget any of the bronzes from that particular Hatching, just like U'kaiah would not. And this one had even gone into his father's Wing after graduating weyrlinghood. "You are J'nev from Cyan Wing. I know who you are."
"Here he is," the toy had seen a better days, showing the wear and tear of well-loved favourite bedtime partner.
She looked from the man to the boy and wondered if she should be worried.

"You've heard of me, huh?" J'nev said with a nervous chuckle, shifting slightly uncomfortably since he really didn't know how to talk to children. Especially ones that had the upper hand, which this one certainly did, in many ways.

"Yes. I've heard of you." Kaiafel took the toy without looking at Aileyan and muttered a quick, "Thank you." He didn't know why he felt that he shouldn't have seen what he did, and yet something inside told him he should be feeling embarrassed or ashamed.

"Tell Ravyan to take better care of him and pass my regards to your mother," Aileyan said, since that was polite. She was just standing there, unsure of what to do or how to react.

"Ok." Kaiafel turned, but before slipping through the door he made sure to do as he had been taught. "Good night, Aileyan. And good night, J'nev."

"Good night, Kaiafel," Alieyan replied. She was still standing there. She had lost all interest to returning to what she and J'nev was doing before the interuption.

J'nev, on the other hand, had not lost interest, but had certainly lost something. But he was pretty sure they could get it back pretty quickly. "So... Shall we move this to the bedroom?"

"Does it have a lock?" Aileyan replied and then shook her head. "I've lost the mood." She wrapped her arms around her.

"Oh come on," J'nev said, thinking it was still just the shock of it all, so his tone was coaxing. "He's just a weyrbrat. Why would he care what we were doing. Don't let it spoil our evening. Things were going so well..."

"He's not just any weyrbrat, he's Ravyan's fosterbrother," Aileyan said. **and U'kaiah's son**, but she was not going to tell J'nev that. "I think I go for a walk."

"I _meant_ it was not like he was your own son walking in on us. He didn't even say anything about what we were doing. He'll forget it by the time he gets back to his own door." And was the kind of story they should be laughing about once the surprise wore off, if she just gave it a chance. Or had a sense of humor. "Come on, Aileyan."

Aileyan shook her head. The more he pleaded and coaxed, the farther her mood for sex escaped. "You can let youself out," she headed towards the door.

"Yeah, it sounds like I'll be doing a lot of things for myself tonight," J'nev muttered, loud enough for her to hear the displeasure he was taking at being so easily turned on and then turned away as he re-buttoned his pants. He should have chatted up that greenrider in the bathing pool. She was sharding hot, and she even looked like fun, too.

The only answer was the door slamming.
