Wine Between _Friends_

Writers: Cali, Shelly
Date Posted: 7th March 2006

Characters: S'rak, Corvera
Description: S'rak comes to see an old friend and ends up seeing quite a bit.
Location: Dragonsfall Weyr
Date: month 10, day 8 of Turn 3

S'rak had Radeth land on the Weyrwoman's ledge. It still felt strange to think of Corvera as a full fledged Weyrwoman, but it must _be_
strange for her as well. He dismounted, careful of the wineskin and goblets he had tucked into his arm, and paid his respects to Mnaiath. }: S'rak has come to see you... :{ Corvera's eyes instantly went wide. **S'rak is _here_** The Weyrwoman finished pulled the brush through her hair and quickly restored her composure. After all, he could just be there on Weyr business...

"Are you decent, my dear?" S'rak asked playfully, not that it mattered since he had seen her in all forms throughout their ten plus turns of friendship. "Do you care if I am?" She nearly hit herself when she heard the rather coquettish tone that came out of her mouth. **It could just be Weyr business, Corvera!**

S'rak smiled and flopped down on her couch, "Now you know I like you best when you're comfortable." He set the goblets down on the table in front of him and started to pour from the wineskin. "Come over here and share this wonderful wine with me and give me a proper welcome to this new Weyr. Or does your new lofty position have you too important to spend time with me?"

Corvera walked to the couch and sat down with a quiet sort of grace.
"Pour." She'd been quite lonely here at Dragonsfall and she wasn't about to pass up wine, either.

"That's what I thought." He said with a sly smile as he passed her a goblet. "Pretty nice huh?" he indicated the glasses, "I found them when unpacking this afternoon."

"These are lovely..." She neglected to mention that the last time she had seen these particular vessels, she and S'rak had gotten obliterated, erasing all but a few of the memories of the rather active night that followed. He had probably forgotten by now - if he remembered at all.

S'rak took a sip of his wine, enjoying the aroma of the blend. "I just couldn't leave these behind at Far Island, I got them when I made Wingsecond. Do you remember?" The Weyrwoman paused a moment. "I recall quite clearly, actually." She took a rather long drink and emptied about half the glass's contents.

"Are we racing now girl?" he teased as he watched her drink, "And of course you remember, but I have the memory of a dragon so I was rather pleased with myself." "So, S'rak..." she sighed, swirling the contents of her glass. "Just what will we be doing tonight, do you think?" She had never been all that good with men so she figured she'd put things bluntly.

Brief thoughts of Torinica entered his mind. Before he had become weyrmates with her, he had often spent an enjoyable evening and even more enjoyable nights with Corvera, for theirs had been an affectionate friendship. Once he and Torinica had pledged themselves to each other though, outside of the two mating flights his Radeth had caught Mnaiath, he and Corvera had stayed only platonic friends. He thought about making some excuse, going back and hiding in his weyr, but he knew it wasn't good for him, and Torinica wouldn't approve of sulking over her death, especially six months later. S'rak set down his goblet on the table and pulled the queenrider onto his lap, not caring that a small portion of what was left of her wine spilled on to his tunic. "Well I think," he said with a sly smile, "That you should give me a _proper_ welcome to the Weyr!"

"_I_ should welcome _you_?!" She puzzled. "I've hardly been here a month! So far the only things I've found that they do here for fun is dragonpoker and drinking."

"Dragonpoker and drinking?" he echoed with a chuckle as he cupped Corvera's face with his hand and pulled her down for a kiss, "We'll just have to show this Weyr how Far Island has _fun_ then."

Corvera pulled back. "I'm going to need a lot more wine first." She smiled nervously. "I'm too nervous about my image as Weyrwoman to do this sober yet..."

He was slightly hurt by her rejection, but he knew her better than to keep pushing. Maybe it was too soon for _her_, she had been friends with Torinica after all. "Well I don't think I want you drunk my dear.
Pleasantly blurry was my original intention, how about we aim for that and see what happens?" Corvera titled her head and sighed at him, a bit frustrated. "You know that I didn't mean that I needed to be _drunk_ to sleep with you! I just need to... be a little looser. Like you said - pleasantly blurry."
She finished the few sips left in her goblet.

S'rak laughed and shook his head, just like Corvera to be utterly confusing. "I'm a little out of practice with all this I'm afraid.
You aren't the only one who's nervous, a little looser is a great idea.
Now, I'd pour you some more wine, but it appears to be just out of reach with you on my lap, and I quite like you where you are so if you wouldn't mind..." Corvera raised a playful eyebrow and reached for the wine in such a way that would show off her... assets as she did so. "I don't mind if I do." She refilled her own glass and his before replacing the bottle -
now empty back on the table in much the same manner as she picked it up.

"Well that settles it," he said, a grin plastered on his face, "you're always pouring the wine!"
