"Yan, yan, yan," a little two turn baby voice called as he toddled
down the corridor toward the green rider as fast as his fat little
legs could take him.
"Look out Aileyan," Tavia chuckled. "He's hot on your trail."
"Hello, little man," Aileyan smiled and scooped him right up to her
arms. "No running away from you mama, alright?" she wrinkled her nose
to make a funny face.
Kaiavin giggled and planted a kiss on the greenrider. His aim wasn't
quite good but he did manage to slobber on her cheek.
Tavia chuckled as well and held out her hands to her son. "Sorry about
that," she grinned. "But he saw you and just wanted down."
"I don't mind, he kind of reminds me of the time Ravyan was this
young," Aileyan replied. It also filled her heart with a longing ache.
She had never thought herself as motherly type. "It's still hard for
me to believe Rav is already six."
"I know," Tavia shook her head. "I can't believe how fast it's gone.
Seems like just yesterday when I moved here from Dolphin Cove."
"Time flies. I'm glad you're here now," Aileyan said. At some Tavia
had turned from rival to a friend. "Life is so unexpected. Do you
realize that since I'm from Emerald Falls Hold, I should have
Impressed in Dolphin Cove?" She bounced the baby up and down.
Kaiavin squealed with delight at the bouncing. He loved to be tossed
in the air and bounced and twirled. He was all sturdy boy and Aileyan
was one of his favorite people.
Tavia smiled at Aileyan. "That would have been nice," she said. "I was
there with my parents at the time. They've moved to River Bluff now so
we're nearer the same timezone but they have the warm climate. Ma's
joints can't take the cold here." She tilted her head. "Would you and
Ravyan like to come for dinner? I baked some of my da's pan cake."
"I would love to and I'm sure Ravyan won't mind either, especially if
there's pancake involved," Aileyan replied.
"Great," Tavia smiled back at her. "I know the Kaiavin loves Ravyan
and now he can follow him around like a good little brother."
"And Ravyan loves that. He also loves to teach him all the bad
habits," Aileyan added a warning.
Tavia nodded. "I'm sure. So we were just on our way to the dining hall
to pick up some things. Anything you or Ravyan would like for your
dinner? I can pick it up too. We can have the pan cake for dessert."
Aileyan nodded. "I need to fetch him from his fostermother," she said.
"Great," Tavia smiled. "Then I'll see you in a little bit."
"See you soon," Aileyan smiled.
