Characters: Chupsin, Zathris
Description: Chupsin is glad he's off the hook.
Location: Amber Hills Hold
Date: month 9, day 1 of Turn 8
Notes: Mentioned: Zelanka, Benani
Humming to himself as he jotted down some notes on the hides piled on
his desk, Chupsin realized the Lord Holder had been back for some time
now. His health was back to normal, a cause for celebration since it
meant the healer could go back to worrying about his normal bunch of
patients. He remembered, though, what Zathris had looked like when
he'd first gotten a good look at him after coming back.

Very aware that the Lord Holder had likely already been looked over
and tended to by healers at the Weyr or elsewhere before being
released and brought back to Amber Hills, Chupsin didn't care for a
few reasons. First, he was likely better than most of them. Second,
he was more intimately familiar with the Lord Holder and his health
issues than any of them.
So, he'd given the man a bit of time to settle in and get acquainted
with his family and what had happened in his absence before he
tactfully set up an appointment for an examination, both to reassure
himself and to make sure that nothing was missed. Otherwise, if
something was and the Lord Holder ended up dying of an infection or
worse-it would then become Chupsin's fault for not doing his duty.
"Come in." Zathris' voice was unmistakable and carried through the
doorway. The Lord Holder had had quite enough of infirmaries and so
insisted that if Chupsin really wanted to examine him, the Healer was
going to have to come to him. So, when the knock came at his office
door, Zathris was reminded of that appointment. It was a good thing
too-he'd been so bogged down in things, he'd honestly forgotten.
"Chupsin, ah yes. My apologies, I forgot about the time."
The healer slipped inside, observing Zathris as he shut the door
behind him. The environment wasn't exactly clean and sterile, which
wasn't ideal, but sometimes healers needed to improvise. The physical
changes apparent in the man behind the desk were expected but Chupsin
still found himself looking. "It's fine, m'lord." Once he was done
looking, he glanced around the office. "Where would you like to do
this?" Chupsin had already spoken with Zelanka as to diet concerns.
Zathris needed nourishment, but he needed certain things to help build
his body back up quicker.
"Here is fine. I just didn't want to be in an infirmary again. I do
appreciate your concern, however." Zathris chuckled a little at
himself. "I'm doing well, though, all things considered, especially
now that I'm home."
"Home can do wonders. You need to remember not to overdo it, though.
It'll hinder more than help." Walking forward, Chupsin moved behind
him and brought out his tube, placing it on the Lord Holder's back.
Listening intently, he spoke quietly. "Breathe deep for me a few
times. In, out."
Zathris complied. Honestly, Chupsin was probably being a bit
overprotective, but Zathris preferred him to be that way rather than
under. When the healer finished listening, the Lord offered him a
lopsided smile. "Hear anything interesting?"
"Not there which is good news." Putting away the tube, Chupsin reached
out and gently palpated Zathris' body. "Tell me if anything is sore or
hurts." He'd read the records when Zathris had been first seen and
remembered the problem areas. Hopefully those had already healed with
rest and good diet and some good cleaning.
Zathris patiently allowed Chupsin to take his time. If nothing else,
the man was thorough and he was grateful that he cared enough to
check. Zathris had just had far too much time in the infirmary lately.
"Nothing sore. I've gotten a few headaches, but I was told that was
simply my body readjusting to the different type of food I'm eating,
even if it's food I had before the shipwreck."
"Aye that's part of it. And coming back to this altitude. Amber Hills
being in the mountains and you being on the flat coastal areas can
cause an adjustment. It'll work itself out, though." Chupsin finished
palpating and had a quick look in his ears and eyes. Everything looked
normal given what the man had been through. "If you're sure you
haven't had any other strange symptoms, you get a clean bill of
health from me. Let me know if something comes up, though. Also
continue to eat smaller portions for now, building back up to where
you were before gradually. That'll help with the food adjustment, the
gradual weight gain, and I'll give you some willowbark to drink for
the headaches."
Stepping back, the healer was quiet for a moment. He concentrated on
his firelizard and a moment later, Tourniquet indeed appeared. The
well-trained bronze landed on his shoulder, receiving a small treat
for his appearance. Sending an image of the right pack of medicine,
Chupsin reinforced his wish with the promise of a reward. The
firelizard chirped once, then took off and disappeared. Scribbling on
a record hide, Chupsin made a few notes. It didn't take long, though,
for Tourniquet to reappear with the sachet marked WB. Receiving
another scrap for his troubles as well as a rub to his eyeridge,
Tourniquet landed again on his pet's shoulder. "Here you are, Zathris.
Dosage and steeping instructions are on the side."
Zathris accepted the bag with a grateful nod. He would have to be
sure to sweeten it, but having something for the headaches would be
nice. "Thanks Chupsin. Anything else I need to do?"
"Continue to get plenty of rest and nutrition. Some light exercise
would be good too, until you are at full strength and can go full tilt
like before. It'll help build your muscles back up." Chupsin didn't
know the full extent of the Lord Holder's previous exercising
activities but Zathris would need some conditioning to get back into
the shape he had been in before, if he wanted to. "Listen to your Lady
wife. I trust she'll have the way of things."
"Listening to my wife is probably the best advice." Zathris grinned
and even laughed softly. "Thank you Chupsin. I appreciate your
dedication."

"My pleasure, Lord Zathris," the healer replied under his breath
before realizing he had been lost in his thoughts. Blinking his eyes,
he turned them back to the name on the current hide.
