Description: Ashareth rises for the second time - with different results.
Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr
Date: month 4, day 25 of Turn 8
Raining? Ugh. Saidrene lifted her riding jacket over her head as she
dashed across the Weyrbowl. She was halfway across when a sudden rush
of heat and desire washed over her like a warm bath. This was a
feeling she remembered vividly, even if she had only experienced it
once before.
Ashareth screeched into the Weyrbowl, the light drizzle of the
overcast skies making her dark green hide glisten as the sun fought to
break through the haze.
Changing paths, Saidrene ducked toward the flight rooms instead.
Kedvencth landed, dispatching his rider. The young bronze crooned his
admiration for the beautiful green.
Instead of dropping like a stone from the sky, Leith decided to
circle. Then the blue landed gracefully. Trying not to consider the
drizzle that had already started, he turned his head to watch
Ashareth.
}:I will chase Ashareth,:{ Chaneth declared unexpectedly, feeling
interest in the green who he remembered watching fly for the first
time and being very skilled at it.
**But she's-**
}:No longer one of our students,:{ the blue said as he took off after her.
A much younger blue was also keeping an eye on her. }:Ashareth will be
mine!:{ cried Leriath.
**Who?** D'shiel asked. **Never mind, fine go ahead.** He hauled off
Padraith's wet straps and stashed them to the side where they might
dry a little while he hung around waiting for the flight to end.
Tonuth answered the screech with a bellow of his own. Almost as big as
any other bronze in the Weyr he didn't chase green often but when he
did he was fierce.
L'cor blew out a breath recognizing the urge and put down the chart
he'd been reading to pelt out into the rain like everyone else was
doing.
Mnoranth was already blooding his kill when R'enh realized who was
rising. But it was too late and he couldn't pull the big bronze away
from the flight. The best he could do was hope for the another won the
flight.
}:Ashareth will be mine.:{ Loseth flared his wings, snarling at the other males.
The bronze was still upset about not catching Orlaith and N'vanik
wished him luck as he hurried down into the Bowl. The Weyrleader had
caught Saidrene giving him looks and although he wouldn't pursue her
otherwise, he would definitely enjoy giving her a thrill in the flight
room.
Ashareth launched into the sky. She wasn't going to fly so recklessly
this time, unlike her last flight. She wanted to fully enjoy being the
center of attention for just a little while. The green sped like an
arrow away from the Weyr and out over the beach, the waves below
looking grey and angry after a day of rain.
And like a trundlebug to a flower, Leith was drawn after her. He
didn't mind that he was competing against the Weyrleader's bronze as
well as his Wingsecond even. The blue didn't worry about any of that.
After all, he just needed her. }:Do not claim what is not yours. She
will choose, not you:{ Snorting in true
blue fashion, he executed a very neat barrel roll.
Leriath was quick to jump in. He still had the memory of flying Search
with her and admiring her ways and the need burned within him to catch
her. On the ground, E'ska moved towards Saidrene, his own admiration
for her mixing with his dragon's.
L'pin was still hesitant about the flight, but Chaneth wasn't. The
blue was a bit slower off the ground than some of the other blues, but
he had solid size and stamina, without being as bulky as the bronzes.
}:Beautiful Ashareth, fly far!:{ he encouraged, knowing it would be
sweeter.
With a powerful leap, Loseth took off after the young green. He made
space for himself amid the larger, slower males and watched Ashareth
to see if she would burn her energy quickly or hold back a bit.
Ked jumped to the air, his wings pumping up and down. With a strength
of the youth, he soon gained those who had been faster to launch off
the ground. }: Choose me, you beautiful thing, :{ he called out.
Mnoranth was off the ground at almost the same time as Loseth and
swung in next to the big bronze. His voice rang out with the others
chasing the green.
Tonuth was a bit behind the other bronzes as they leapt into the air
after the fleet green but he maneuvered within the pack to what he
thought was a good position.
Although she was pleased by such a fine group of males, Ashareth
forgot all about them as she reveled in the adrenaline coursing
through her veins, lending her strength and endurance as she darted
among the clouds.
Kedvencth stayed on her heels, relying on his strength. The young
bronze was eager to prove himself to a lovely green like she.
On the ground, N'mor swayed on his feet, unconsciously mimicking his
dragon's movements up in the air.
On the ground E'ska stepped towards Saidrene, greatly daring, and
brushed his hand along her shoulder. The contact sent shivers through
the bluerider, and hopefully through the greenrider. In the air,
Leriath twisted out of the way of a brown and arced towards the
glowing green prize.
Chaneth flew low, thinking that she might expect a catch from above.
But would she expect him to soar up at her and catch her, his neck and
tail twined with hers? Another brown seemed to have the thought and
the older blue hissed at him.
Mnoranth wove through the clouds calling to the glowing green and
avoiding entanglements with other chasers.
Tonuth added his own voice to the chorus of others and slid a little
higher to get above the cloud cover.
Making his move, Loseth put on speed, moving away from a cluster of
slower males. A few blues were in the path between him and Ashareth,
but Loseth had a plan.
Seeing the bronzes and everyone thinking this was the time, Leith ignored
them all. His attention was for her. They were above and below her, waiting.
}:Puffed up wherries, they are.:{ Executing another maneuver, he neatly avoided
a brown who had decided to get in his way. And then he headed straight for
Ashareth, confident she would pick him.
As he had predicted, Ashareth was caught off guard by the sudden
appearance of a blue dragon beneath. Startled she tried to bank hard
to put some distance between herself and Chaneth, but the blue's trap
had worked well and she found herself entangled with his talons.
}:I will show you the meaning of flight,:{ he flattered Ashareth.
Chaneth pulled the green dragon against him, twining neck and tail
with hers, confident in his win.
On the ground, L'pin pulled Saidrene to him, heedless of anything beyond need.
