Cyradis

She saw them standing together in the swirl of new pairs and Weyrling
staff. Rondera was almost shoving meat into the little green maw and
her thoughts turned to her own impression and the seeming bottomless
pit Panitath had been then.

}:I wasn't that bad,:{ A miffed gold grumped at her. **No, you were worse.**

Cyradis smiled as she approached K'deren and reached for his hand.
"I'm so proud of you," she smiled at Rodera.

"Thank you," said Rondera. The glum expression she'd worn earlier was gone,
replaced by a much happier look. "Sarahth is amazing."

"She is beautiful," Cyradis responded and squeezed K'deren's hand.

"Like her rider," K'deren said, watching as another mouthful of meat was
given to the tiny green. "Make sure she chews it well."

"Yes Da," Rondera said, before turning to her green, "You heard him," she
said to the green. "Chew that food of yours."

Cyradis chuckled. Rondera was practically glowing as she fed the
little green. "She'll grow fast, but I know you know that." Then she
turned to K'deren. "I'm glad you got back in time." She didn't want to
add the 'how's your father' to detract in any way from the girl's joy
of the moment.

"I wouldn't have missed this," K'deren said. "There's something about
watching a hatching that can't be missed."

She hugged him with one arm and smiled. "Yeah, exactly." Then she took
a deep breath. She knew she needed to get to the other Weyrlings and
then had a long night with the feast and everything. But this girl was
special to her and she intended to spend some additional time with
her. "I have a special dress for you to wear to the feast," she smiled
at Rondera.

"Really?" That made Rondera pause from her task of feeding the seemingly
bottomless pit that was now her lifemate.

"And don't think I've forgotten you," K'deren told her. "I managed to get a
piece of the shell this little one came from, and I've had a locket ready
for you to put it in for a long while. It's in our weyr, but you'll have it
later."

"Really," she smiled back. "That's wonderful K'deren," she squeezed
him again and shared a smile with the new green rider. "Did you see
that Ranar also Impressed? He's R'nar now." Her smile didn't waver as
she turned back to K'deren. "And N'lon is here too." Her smile turned
a bit brittle but she could handle it she reassured herself.

"That's good," Rondera said as she fed the final lump of meat from her
bucket to the tiny green. "Bronze or brown?"

"Bronze," she said and nodded. "His name is Iorath. He's quite the
handsome fellow." She saw the little green sway and knew sleep was
coming soon. The weyrling workers were walking up and down the line,
checking on their charges and escorting some off to their new little
weyrs. "You better get her moving to the barracks dear or your father
is going to have to carry her."

It was hard for Rondera not to stifle a yawn herself. "I'm not sure if
that's her or me, But I think we need to get sorted."

She reached out to hug Rondera. "I know how it is," she said softly.
"Come to our weyr once she's asleep and we'll get you all ready for
the feast. How's that?"

"That," and a yawn did escape then. "Would be fantastic."

"Great," she smiled then she went on tiptoe to give her weyrmate a
kiss. "I'll see you later. I still have several weyrlings to greet
before they all wander off."
