Trumpeting his challenge to the other suitors, Nirreth launched
himself to the air after her. He was hot on her heels.

Kenirath bared his teeth at Arinoth when the thick, muscled body of
the brown jostled against him as they both tore off into the skies
after the glowing, saffron beauty. Arinoth wasn't the least bit
intimidated by the bronze as he shoved back against Kenirath to
hopefully clear a little more flight space for him as they followed
Lissath.

Lissath, that was all Sondrath could see as far as the youngest, and
possibly still smallest, barely weyrling, brown in the chase. He had
launched himself after the glowing golden prize, but a little bit of doubt
showed as he in turn climbed and followed her in the skies.

Lissath cried out in frustration at the chasing bronzes and browns. }:
Leave me! I belong to the sun! :{ she snapped at them as she beat her
strong wings ever faster and faster, finally finding words again to
voice her thoughts. }: You will never catch me! :{ Making a diving
roll to get out of the way of one particularly eager bronze, she
lashed her tail at him viciously, before setting in her ascent again.
They would not keep her from her goal, they could not, because she
felt the energy from the blooding of her victims ripple through her
body and she knew she would fly far and high. Far away from all of
them.

Nirreth was careful not to crowd her. Last thing he wanted was slash
from talons on his snout. He didn't let her go too far ahead either.
It was balancing game. But Nirreth was experience, he had flown golds
before. He knew this game. She was young.

Torerath too stayed just out of her range, she was beautiful in the
sky and he crooned his pleasure at the sight of her soaring. She would
lead them a long and merry chase but he was in his prime and she was
still very young. He would be waiting for her first mistake.

Like his rider, Arinoth was blunt and aggressive. He would make
Lissath notice him by being the one nearest to her at all times and
then in that moment when she made just the slightest deviation, he
would make his move. The young bronze who had been lashed fell from
the flight, mostly likely from wounded pride more than anything.
Arinoth edged past Nirreth. The last dragon he wanted to win was the
Weyrleader's. }:He already has Chioneth! Lissath will be mine!:{ He
growled in K'yne's mind.

Rogueth was displeased by being surrounded by so many rivals for the young
gold. Let them chase as much as they like, let them think they had a shot
with her. He knew she would be his! The bronze was fueled by twin desires
- his own for the gold prize, and the feelings of his rider on the ground
below. It was a full rapport between them, no subconscious resistance
holding him back. With such unity of mind between them, he couldn't lose.

When the young bronze dropped out, Rogueth saw opportunity and slipped
through the temporary gap he created. He stayed far enough back to not
incur her ire, but close enough that he could see her moves and try to
predict them. Arinoth was close enough to her to be able to react quickly.
He and Nirreth, who had caught several golds, were the biggest rivals. The
bronze growled a warning at them.

Another felt he was at the final reaches of his endurance. Sondrath gave a
bellow of disappointment as he realised he could no longer keep the pace and
began to fall back. The cry was echoed by his rider on the ground, who
stumbled away from the group. But L'ger had no need to worry, warm arms
enfolded him and led him off to help him deal with his frustrations.

Nirreth locked his wings and just glided for awhile, preserving his
strenght and observing Lissath's flight. She was young and
unpredictable. He didn't want to miss his change by taking her for
granted.

As one by one the browns and some bronzes were falling behind and
leaving the chase, Lissath bugled in triumph. But she too felt her
muscles straining with effort and her energy draining. And yet her
goal was still so far away. It seemed as if the sun was running from
her, going just as fast away from her as she was going towards it. But
she had to push on, if only she could shake off these chasers, maybe
then she could fly easier. Making another dip and turn, she cut off
two bronzes by a few inches, almost in range for a catch, but sure to
unbalance them if they'd try to capture her.

The young queen's sudden dip and turn nearly shook Kenirath, who had
been following closely behind her. At first he had thought that
Lissath had made a mistake, coming within a short span of him, and
well within range for him to catch her, but like the smart, wily thing
that she was, the golden beauty had veered suddenly, making Kenirath
glad that he hadn't stretched out his neck just yet.

}:Let's chase the sun together.:{ Kenirath encouraged, as he recovered
smoothly enough to stay in the flight.

Arinoth, again, roughly jostled against Kenirath, earning the ire of
the bronze dragon's talons as they raked across his flank. Snarling at
the younger dragon, K'yne's brown stayed firmly on track, his rapidly
whirling eyes never losing sight of the glowing figure of Dragonfall's
youngest queen.

Nirreth, veteran of many gold flights, could sense the end was near.
It gave him surge of new energy and he closed on her, avoiding
Kenirath and Arinoth with easy dodge sideways. }: Let's Fly together,
:{ he called to her. }: I'm strong, I will give you many fine
hatchlings! :{

Torerath's wings were tired but he was almost as large as the bronzes
and hardened through long training. He might be brown but he wouldn't
give up the chase. He dodge the to bronzes as they growled at one
another and darted closer to Lissath.

Rogueth's wings were tiring and he surged forward with a valiant
effort. He saw that brown sneaking in on her. He wouldn't let Nirreth
beat him! His interest had been sealed when he had seen Lissath
beautiful against the black sand of Ista, and now that she was so
close to him, he would claim her.

}:Lissath, you know that I have long desired you. I will show you the
true meaning of Flight glory!:{ the bronze promised. He saw an opening
and exploited it, closing his wings to slip through a gap in the pack
to come out tantalizingly close to her. On the ground, his rider's
hand reached out and towards the young goldrider. They could not lose
this flight when it was so important!

Taldeth flew fast and hard after the golden beauty just as the other's
did. He worked to keep up with some of the more experienced bronzes,
yet his youth gave him energy to soar through the skies declaring his
desire to capture the queen.

No, no! Lissath felt her energy draining further with every wingbeat. She
would not be able to push on much longer. How could she ever get to her
beloved sun, if flying this fast and this far didn't get her there? She did
not know, but she did know she had to end this chase now. She would try
again, one day, she was sure of that. But right now, she felt she hardly
had the energy to make it back down. She needed one of those bronzes... And
as suddenly as the rage had taken her over completely earlier, as she
looked back at the chasing pack an all-consuming lust took over. And she
knew exactly who would satiate it. Flinging herself to her chosen bronze,
she knew he would give her all she needed. She chose the one she'd known
longest and best. He had been her teacher for months, after all.

}: Kenirath, I end this chase with you :{

Kenirath needn't be told twice as he snatched up the lovely beauty
that he had been watching for months, first as a teacher, and then
later as a suitor. With a bugle of victory the bronze locked talons
with Lissath and twined his coppery neck around her golden one, and
with wings unfurled he guided them away from the Weyr.

Nirreth bellowed out his disappointment when she made her choice. But it
was her choise. The bronze swerved around to return home.
On the ground, G'nir snatched a flight month to burn the flight lust with
her. He only stopped long enough to check that the moth was indeed a
female.

Rogueth's disappointment was crushing, matched by his riders. He snarled
disappointment and rage into the sky. On the ground, K'ran staggered out
of the room with haze blurring his eyes. He didn't even resist when a pair
of hands grabbed him.

Taldeth roared his own disappointment as he fell from the chasing
dragons. T'nom had no issues giving into the waiting arms of the woman
who eagerly wrapped her arms around him.

D'kere had no need of the pawing hands of the flight moths who were so
eager to latch on to the flight losers, today he was the victor, and
his prize waited for him in a lovely package of womanly curves and
golden blonde hair. With passion spurred by the flight, the
bronzerider wrapped his arms around Genna and kissed her hungrily as
the flight room emptied, leaving them alone to enjoy their moment.

D'ale turned from the flight with fire in his eyes that sought out the
nearest female. While in the sky Torerath dove out of the sky to rest
on a high peak.

As Lissath entwined with Kenirath, so did Genna with D'kere. Engulfed by the lust emanating from her golden lifemate, she consumed her new bed-partner with a passion and fierceness very unlike the usual Genna. She'd become a true goldrider, though for now all such thoughts had no room to surface. For now there was only passion and seemingly endless lust.
