Location: Dolphin Hall
Date: month 12, day 16 of Turn 7

It was high time that they got the wedding underway. There had been
too many delays, too many setbacks.
Determined, Famell entered the kitchens seeking a familiar face who he
knew could get things moving quickly.
"Jylanya, good day. It's good to see you," he greeted her as he approached.
"Master Famell," she smiled. "What can I do for you today?"
"Just some time to chat. I feel almost disconnected from all that's
been going on, between my earlier illness, Shilara's pregnancy, and
the birth of Ahimell, well I feel as though I've almost lost touch."
He pulled up a stool to one of the counters and took a seat. "I know
you will be able to fill me in on all the gossip." He gave her a
conspiratorial wink.
She smiled and pushed away from the bread she was kneading. Nodding to
a nearby drudge to continue she picked up her apron and wiped her
hands clean. "Well, if it's gossip you're wanting we'll need a drop of
wine don't you think?" She picked up a bottle from the sideboard and
brought it over to the table.
He grinned. It was a happy, relaxed grin. "Wine sounds just about
right. So now, spill the beans."
She placed a pair of glasses down on the table. "Most of the gossip
around here has more to do with the Weyr than anything else," she said
as she poured. "Have you heard about the young bronzerider who beat a
hold guard nearly senseless?" She leaned forward. "Well the Lord
Holder himself came to meet with the Weyrleaders and demand punishment
for the young man."
"I'd heard the basics, but didn't know all the details," Famell, who'd
been caught up in being a new father had caught bits and pieces of
news, but had been busy with so many other things that many of them
were quickly forgotten. "Serves him right, though, don't you agree?
_No one_ should get away with beating another man without facing
punishment."
"Well from the sound of things," Jylanya nodded. "The guard started it
_and_ pulled a knife on the kid. So, I'm not so sure I blame him so
much."
Famell shook his head. "Such a terrible thing to happen. I'm not sure
where some people get such notions!"
"Anything else of note happening lately? Aside from your upcoming
wedding plans of course," Famell asked with a playful smile on his
lips.
"Very funny," she said with a smile. "I might ask the same of you. But
I have to say that Veerona has had a very difficult time adjusting to
the marriage. I just don't know how to help her through her fears.
It's like she thinks I have to choose either her or Naton."
He paused a moment to consider. His own daughter was grown now so his
marriage to Shilara was not much of a concern for her. But, a young
one, like Veerona, he could understand her having trouble adjusting to
changes.
"Hmm, well, aside from talking with her, I think she will just have to
_see_ that there is room for both of them in your heart. It might take
some time for her, but I know you will help her through this. If I can
be of assistance anytime, just let me know."
"As for wedding plans," he continued, "Shilara and I need to confirm a
date. We'd prefer not to wait too long. What do you think since the
brunt of the work falls on you and the kitchens and other workers."
"Of course Hallmaster," she smiled. "Whatever date you select, I'll
make the preparations so you have all you could want or need. We have
plenty of supplies put by for Turns End is close by now.
"Excellent. Shilara would like it soon. So let's see what we can do to
get things underway shall we?" He knew he would need both Jylanya and
Shilara to help him with all the plans and preparations. He was used
to parties and things, but planning a weddding? Well that was just
slightly out of his realm of expertise.
"Does she already have ideas? Should I talk to Shilara directly?" She
didn't want to steal the Hallmasters thunder but his lady was the one
who would have more ideas about how it should go besides just showing
up and the Harper pronouncing them married.
"Yes, you definitely should speak to her. I want this to be the
wedding she dreams of. I will happily provide the pursestrings and
arrange some wines. If you need anything further from me, you will
know where to find me," he replied. He would be more than happy to
allow the ladies to do all the plotting and planning. He just wanted
Shilara to be happy and _finally_ get to be his wife.
"I'll make sure she gets what she wants." Jylanya smiled back.
