"Rialt," Reymer whispered as he slid onto the chair next to him. "Can I talk to you privately for a few minutes?"
"Sure thing, Rey. What's up?" the older Candidate asked with his usual, friendly grin as he leaned back in his chair.
"Maybe, outside?" he asked quietly as he lifted up a small rolled hide.
He was sure, Rialt would understand what he needed.
Rialt's expression turned a bit more serious as he eyed the hide. "Oh. Yeah, yeah. Sure. Come on." Pushing himself up from the table, he motioned with his head for Reymer to follow him.
Reymer followed his friend outside and handed him the hide. "I don't know what this is. It was handed to me by one of the girls in the class."
He ran a hand through his hair, his green eyes flickering to his friend.
"A _girl_, eh?" A slow grin began to spread across his lips.
Reymer blushed. "Come on. It's not like that. We have chores together sometimes. It's probably just our schedule or something."
"Uh huh. Yeah, well, we'll see, won't we?" Rialt's tone suggested that he didn't think the note had _anything_ to do with _schedules_. With exaggerated slowness, he began unrolling the scrap.
Reymer crossed his arms and frowned a little. "Its not like that, Rialt."
"Uh huh." His eyes scanned the note, and with a very, _very_ wide grin, Rialt looked up at him. "How much are you willing to bet?"
"Why?" Rialt looked just a little too pleased with himself. "What does it say? Read it to me."
The older Candidate made a show of clearing his throat and leaning back against the stone wall as if to get into a more comfortable position. Then he grinned at his friend for a moment before looking back down at the note. "It says...
'Reymer, I think you're hot. Meet me by the lake this evening. I want to show you something.'"
His green eyes gleamed over the top of the hide at him. "She's certainly not made of the subtle stuff, is she?" And he began to laugh.
Reymer's face turned crimson. Shards, he was going to stay far away from lake that night. After what happened with Isaline after just _kissing_...
But at the same time, how could he be rude. "Ummmm... Do you want to go meet her instead? Make apologies for me? I know how much you like to spend time with girls."
A dark brow rose. "You're running away? From a _girl_?" He grinned at his friend's expression and shook his head. "Uh uh. I'm not going."
Shards. "Well then, you need to help me write her a note back, 'cause I'm not going and I don't want to hurt her feelings."
"Is she pretty?"
He shrugged a shoulder. "I guess."
"Then what's the problem? Why don't you want to go see her?" He eyed Reymer for a moment. "You still shy about the whole sex thing, Rey?"
"Well, no, its..." Should he really actually _tell_ someone what happened? "I actually did kiss a girl, but its just... something happened..."
"Something...happened?"
"Shells, it didn't go well at all, Rialt," Reymer moaned as he flopped down on the ground.
He frowned, squatting down in front of him. "What, the kissing? Or..."
"The kissing was fine. The kissing was... it was great. But then something happened.... Down there..." Reymer covered his eyes with the heals of his hands. Shards, he should never have kissed her like that! But he wouldn't have if he had known what would happen!
Ah. "You got stiff, huh? Shards, the kissing must've been hot." But sometimes, even the quickest of kisses was enough...
Reymer groaned. It sounded even worse when his friend said it out loud.
"Yes. Shards, it was so embarrassing... Now I can't even look her in the eye! I don't know if she saw or not and..." Another frustrated groan escaped his throat.
Rialt stared at him. What did they _teach_ people out there in the sharding holds and halls? "Look, Rey, it's nothing to be...ashamed of."
Shards! _Ashamed_. He was _ashamed_.
"Yeah, but it should have happened like that! We were just _kissing_!"
"Yeah. And kissing can get damn exciting," he grinned.
"But shouldn't it take more than _two_ kisses for... _that_ to happen?" Reymer said giving his friend a rather displeased glare. Rialt found this all _way_ too funny for his pride. "I mean, what would she think of me?"
Reymer really had experienced too little of the world. Good thing he'd been Searched for the Weyr! "Look, Rey, I don't know what they told you growing up, but there isn't any set time in a make-out session for _that_
to happen, all right? And if the girl was kissing you the way she was, she certainly knows her business and wouldn't be disgusted by a stiff cock."
"You really think so?" Reymer asked, looking up at his friend hopefully.
Maybe there was a chance he hadn't ruined everything after all?
Rialt gave him an arrogant, lazy smile. "I know so."
"So you mean, that's happened to you before too?" Reymer hoped that things weren't as bad as he had feared. He really had enjoyed kissing Isaline, and he wouldn't mind trying again if she would let him...
"Mmm. And I've gone on to do a bit more than just kissing, Rey."
"I may not be able to read, but I am not a fool, Rialt," Reymer chuckled. Who _didn't_ know the candidate had done a lot more than just kiss? "That's why you should meet the girl by the lake."
He grinned. It actually didn't sound like such a bad idea... "Perhaps I will... To let her know that you couldn't come, of course." His expression turned a little thoughtful. "So you still don't wanna see her, huh? You going to track down that other girl instead?"
Reymer nodded. "Yeah, I think so. I mean, its worth a try... isn't it?"
"Men need women. Period. Or perhaps they need us." That lazy, arrogant grin was back. "So of course it's worth a try! Now," he leaned forward slightly, his eyes glinting, "why don't you tell me what this girl of yours by the lake looks like."
