Kielya

The moment the news had reached him, and admittedly, he'd not been
actively listening for any news about his father, Ma'din's interest
was on point. Apparently, D'hol had acknowledged another one of his
get and had knocked up that sweet young thing that was weyrmated to
him. Silly bint actually wanted the old man. He shrugged away that
thought, his mind centering on the younger sister he hadn't known
about as Aznith circled over the warmth of Dolphin Cove.

He landed after a perfunctory greeting to the watch dragon and
afterwards, it wasn't too difficult to get information or a
description of the young girl. Kielya, her name was. Well, at least
her mother hadn't saddled her with any bit of D'hol's name attached to
the kid. He waited for the creche to open and allow the weyrbrats out
to flood out to freedom. He leaned against the wall, eyes narrowed to
look for the child that fit the description he had been given.

Bouncing dark curls caught his attention and he straightened
immediately, eyes searching the little face. If that was her... He
took a change. "Hey, Kielya?"

"Yes," she turned to look at the tall rider and then her eyes narrowed
and a small fist planted on her hip. "Who are you and why do you look
like my da?"

"Shaffit if you don't have the attitude. You must be her." Ma'din's
lips twisted in a smirk as he gestured at his face. "I'm better
looking, Bite Size. Don't have all the wrinkles." There was humor in
his eyes at the attitude, finding a bit of similarity there. "Name's
Ma'din." He crouched. "Why do you think I look like your da?"

"Your face," she continued to squint at him. "Wrong color of hair but
you look like him. Are you my uncle?" She knew about how older people
were _called_ Auntie and Uncle but some of them really were related to
you.

"Oh no. Not an uncle." He tilted his head at her. "Guess your 'Da'
didn't spill the beans about me, then. Yeah, I look like him. We both
do. You not as much, thank Faranth. These cheekbones on a girl would
be deadly." He winked and gestured her closer with a crook of his
finger. "See," He lowered his voice. "I'm your brother, Bite Size.
Didn't know about you before. But now I do."

She wasn't too sure of the name Bite Size and her dark brows had begun
to come together when he told her he was her brother. Her eyes got
wide instead and began to spark with interest. She grinned and held
out her hand just like her momma would have done with a new
bronzerider. "Very pleased to meet you," she said. "Are you here for a
visit?"

He took her little hand and shook it. "So proper." He tsked. He
wondered how much of that was his prodigal father's or how much of
that was the child's mother. "Aye. Here for a visit. Just to see you."
He looked over his shoulder, pointing to Aznith with his thumb.
"That's Aznith, my brown. Want to introduce yourself?"

"Me?" She was surprised by that. No one ever came just to see her.
Even her da always wanted to see momma too. "Really," she smiled
wonderingly and then turned her attention to the brown. "Hello
Aznith," she said with a small curtsy.

He nodded. "Just you." He tilted his head at her, noting the
similarity in her eye shape and his own, as well as the stubborn set
of her jaw. He had curls too, but kept his lighter hair short enough
and styled to the point that they weren't often revealed. "How old are
you anyways?" As Aznith rumbled a greeting, Ma'din's eyes lit with an
idea. "Wanna ride?"

She gave her tall brother a sunny smile, "I'm eight," she said. "A
ride? That sounds like fun!" She didn't even think about the things
she should be doing or when people expected her.

"Well, come on then." He pulled the riding helmet tucked under his arm
and plopped it on her head and without asking, scooped her up. Aznith
lowered himself and Ma'din held her towards his straps. "You know how
to climb up already, don't you?" He peered at the girl. "We might even
get Aznith to do a few loops."

}: Loops? :{ The big brown eyed his rider.

**Humor me.**

"Loops?" Kielya said wonderingly. She looked down at herself realizing
she only had on a light top and shorts. "We're not going /between/
right?"

"Nah. But just in case, Bite Size..." he shrugged off his heavy riding
jacket and draped it over her shoulders. "Climb on up. We'll do a few
loops and a few dives. Bet your Da doesn't do that, does he?"

"No," she answered truthfully though the jacket was very huge and she
couldn't get her hands through to the ends of the sleeves. "Why do you
call me Bite Size," her brows drew together in a little frown.

"Because," He grunted as he got her settled into place and began to
strap her in. "You're just the right snack for Aznith to have a good
snack."

The brown turned his large head to gaze at them and then snicked his
teeth together before exhaling warm breath over the young girl.

Keilya just rolled her eyes at both of them. "I'm not _hold_ raised,"
she said with her voice dripping disdain. "Besides, that would make
momma mad and you won't like it when that happens. All the dragons are
scared then." She sniffed in a miniature imitation of the invoked
parent and tried to cross her arms which was near impossible in the
enveloping jacket.

"Well, I know that, silly thing. Besides, " he poked her size. "too
bony for him." He checked the straps and then his own. "And sorry,
Bite Size, but I'm not afraid of your mum." Ma'din grinned and with a
mental nudge, Aznith leaped into the air, strong thrusts of his wings
giving them quick altitude.

Kielya giggled and batted at her brother's hand. He was certainly more
fun than her other brothers. "Oh you should be," she grinned and held
on as they launched into the air.
