Apparently for 82 marks you can get an "Other" on the Member Rewards.  No Idea what an "other" is.  What was that supposed to mean Bree?

But while I've got your attention...

What inspired the birth/creation of your favorite (or favorites) Triad Persona?  Was it a favorite song?  A show you saw on tv?  Your mom? Best friend?  Significant other?  I want to know.

My favorite persona, Kouna was inspired, well Inspired by Cali's want of a Hallsecond, but I guess she resembles my mom a bit, and of course, myself.  My mom is NOT a morning person, and until I brush my teeth you'd better watch your step because if you get in my way You'll be sorry.  But my mom is the essence of efficiency in laid back form.  She is known for her oversized shirts and lazy appearance yet also for her strong work ethic and her ability to seem like you've known each other forever.

And just because he's so minty fresh:
N'call is the embodiment of myself, if I was skinny.  I have terrible problems with women, and am often accused of being gay, even though I'm not (that's why N'call is a bronzerider.  Cause I get no enjoyment from EITHER side of that lifestyle, gay or lesbian, unlike the guy stereotype: we flock to see girls make out.  Nothing against them just don't go doing it front of ME).  And Apparently I always flirt with people, though I don't even realize it.  And I love music, so we're almost exactly the same.

My favorite personas were always inspired by personality traits.  And often I start out thinking that one personality trait should be dominant and it turns out that its lost in the background as a persona takes on a life of its own, and I have to kinda herd it back in that direction.  I had first intended for U'kaiah to be more like M'galec - an ambitious bastard with too high an opinion of himself.  He's still ambitious and cocky, but it doesn't manifest itself nearly as much as I had intended for it to.

D'ren is a somewhat idealized version of me when I first read the Pern books.

My first inkling of Traelyn--not thought, inkling--was a description of one of the main characters in a favorite fantasy book of mine.  That character's name was Del.  She was from the northern mountains, and she had blonde hair, which was bleached practically white from the harsh southron sun, darkly-tanned skin and blue eyes.  I thought that if I ever had a goldrider, I'd want her to look similar to that.  Trae's obsession with her morning dose of klah reflects my own obsession with coffee.  I wanted the challenge, when I created her, to make her into something that was opposite of me in a lot of ways.  Like her temper.  I don't really have one, despite the Irish heritage, and I wanted the challenge of writing it.  She has also turned out to be a very...well, sensual woman, and me, I'm not like that at all in real life.  Trae is unstable in a lot of ways, and is desperately in need of some emotional growth, and I think I have a pretty good handle on myself, even if I'm only 19  ;)

I can't help but notice that Sawyer from Lost is your icon... is that who N'vanik is based on? I didn't have network TV for a long time and I just started watching the 1st season of Lost on DVD from Netflix... I know Sawyer is not supposed to be likable, but I am totally in love!

I think its my bitter disappointment with that show.  I mean after all the hype I had been fed and then I couldn't watch 4 epidsodes before I decided I just couldn't watch anymore (and then Mom rented the entire first season so we could bond over it....  that was a chore).  And I honestly would have really liked the show if there had been no Kate, no Jack, and no Sawyer.  They are just way too cliche for me.

Why couldn't it have been a show totally devoted to Sayid?  I'd have gladly watched that one  :flower:

Although, I did hear somewhere that they wanted Sawyer to be from New England originally.  I think New Orleans was a much better choice.  Or down south.  Wherever he's from.

It started out as a . . . not a joke, but a game of "What If?". At first I just thought it was funny, but the more I thought about it, the better the idea sounded and I just had to try it. There's a good deal of me in N'vanik, too, although some of it is amped up. ;) N'vanik is Sawyer + Me + Chemical X,  like some strange biological experiment. The more I write him, the more he becomes his own creature. I've found that as anti-social as he is, he feels a lot of responsibility for his wingmates in Fall, even if he's an ass to them the rest of the time. And he distances himself from people because he's afraid of rejection and of losing people he cares about.

And I get TONS of inspiration from my co-posters!
