I think all my Triad personas have little bit of me. One facet of my personality or physical qualities. Some of them are more me than others, and even those I try to make opposites of me, are me.

Did that make sense? Don't worry, it doesn't make sense to me either.
Mostly they just pop out and have pretty refined personalities when the come. But the do grow and change when I write them.

My characters start out haphazardly but take on traits of those around me. For example, right now I really enjoy writing for Hartam because my workmates and I have been playing groupies lately. Ok, so one coworker's hubby is a musician and we find out about all of the free quality music at local bars and coffeeshops. Writing for Hartam at the Tavern, I picture our friend Rich with a Celtic band at a local pub -- not physically, but in attitude.
