The blue dragon landed and settled down. Its two passengers dismounted
carefully and stepped onto the soil in the weyrbowl.
Dragonsfall Weyr-her new home. Nokala stood next to her brother, watching
the dragons going to and fro. Thankfully, her home
had been on the same longitude as this Weyr so she was familiar with the
climate. She just had more water. Smiling as the snow
fell, she turned to help S'kon get her things. "I can manage some of that."

"I know you can, but mother insisted that I treat you like the senior
journeyman you are." He grinned, letting her know he wasn't
buying into the whole thing. Still, he grabbed a few bags. "We'll leave the
rest until we know where you're going. Do you want me
to come with?"

He looked like her except for the startling eyes. They were green, like her
mother's. She shook her head no. "I can do this. Might as
well learn my way around anyway." After he nodded, she set off. Her long
legs ate up the distance quickly and her bootfalls were light
and sure. Some would wonder why she was a harper and not a dancer or even a
runner. Nokala would smile when they asked and say
it was because of her voice. Entering the Lower Caverns, she located the map
on the wall inside the entrance. Most Weyrs had them.
It wasn't hard to find the harpers' quarters. Memorizing it quickly, she
went down the halls to find her fellow crafters.

Humming while she walked, she nodded and smiled to those who watched her
while passing. Tall women attracted attention and she
was used to it. She also didn't respond to the appreciative stares from the
men who passed. There would be time for that later. "Allright
No-no, this is it." Seeing the open door, she went inside and was
immediately assaulted with noises. Instruments, singing, children...they
were all familiar to her and she smiled. "Sounds like home." Going forward,
she did her best to locate someone to find out where she would
be. It didn't take long and she set her things down on the empty bed she'd
share with one other journeyman.

"S'kon, it's that way," she pointed over at the wall down toward left of
center. "I think we can manage in one load." Hefting what she could
and leaving the rest to her brother, she lead the way. He was the elder but
he didn't mind following her. They had been on equal footing for
most of their lives until he had Impressed and things had changed.

When they reached the harpers' area and she put everything on the floor, she
turned around to him. "Do you want to stay and eat?" Her eyes
were hopeful. This was her first time away from home and her family. She
understood it was necessary to further her career but it hurt to leave
them behind. They were her life.

"I have to get back. With the time change and all, we're about to start wing
meeting soon. I'm only a trip /between/ away though. We all are."
He smiled and came forward to hug her tight. "It'll be okay No-no. You'll
knock 'em dead, like always."

She tried not to cry, but it happened anyway. Just a few tears, no noise.
Finally, she let her big brother go. She was a grown woman, for Faranth
sake. "Try to stay out of trouble. Tell Ma not to worry. I'll be fine. Just
have to find my feet."

And, together, they released and stepped back, facing each other. Both of
them said it at the same time. "With the wind, we never stop. With the
rain, we never stop. With the snow, we never stop. Only Thread will bar the
way." The old runnercraft motto that had been drilled into them by their
Aunties had been something they had always used as a promise to each other.

"Goodbye No-no. Be safe. And let me know if you need anything." S'kon headed
out slowly at first, then with more speed in his step.

She sat down on the bed, wondering how this was going to turn out. First
things first, she needed to unpack and find the food. Then, report for duty.
"Well Dragonsfall, here I come."
