The day had been exhausting one and having a proddy green didn't make
it easier. It almost felt like all weyrlings were being cranky too. Or
perhaps E'naer was just reflecting his own feelings. Luneth had
managed to test Eillispeth's patience to the point the older green had
snapped out. Her temper tended to be shorter this near Rising. Then she
had stormed out to sulk on her ledge, not allowing Neath to land on it
and even growling at Feral. Yes, she was about to Rise.

Galerith had been watching Eillispeth whole day. He wasn't the only
blue doing so. Right now she was napping. Her hide had taken an
irriscent glow. When she woke up, she would be ready.
}: Eillispeth is about to Rise, :{ he informed his rider.

**Great! We are chasing, aren't we?** Sh'lua sounded enthusiastic.

}: Of course. I plan to win her :{ the big blue was confident.

}:Ellispeth is very beautiful,:{ Rademerth commented to his rider.

**Are you flirting again?**

}:She glows.:{ The blue shifted restlessly.

}:It is almost time, mine:{ Jodeth told P'nal from his vantage point
near the lake. The brown had found a nice rock to curl on but now he
was all eyes and ears, waiting. It was deceptive since he looked
relaxed but in fact his muscles were tensed and he was ready to go
when she was. When he used that tone, P'nal knew it meant only one
thing.

R'axe remembered E'naer from the dragonpoker game he had sat in a
while back. He also remembered how attached G'wen had been to his
weyrmate and how worried he had been about the older man straying.
Well, this was a mating flight, and all rules were out, as far as
R'axe was concerned.

**You are ready?** He checked with his blue.

}:Of course.:{ Jayth said with familiar confidence that mirrored his rider.

**Shardit, I have actual work to do!** K'ran thought, frustrated by his
dragon as he felt the bronze perk up. He disliked flights in general, but
he knew he wasn't going to win this one, so he pushed aside his meal.

}:I chase,:: Rogueth said stubbornly, staring at the green carefully.

And then she was up. Eillispeth's challenge reverberated from the Weyr's
cliffs. She headed out for feeding pens, while E'naer was force to make
his way there on his own. She blooded quickly, not paying any attention
to the males gathering around her.

He knew this one. Watching her graceful movements, he knew she had the
instincts of a hunter. A worthy prize, to be sure. Jodeth was going through
P'nal's memories for flights past. What had he done? What had she done?
His whirling eyes sought out the others, sizing them up. Would one of them
win
her? Not if he had anything to say about it.

The green was already putting on quite a show and it gave J'kri time
to make it to the pens without having to run. He spotted R'axe and
waved at the other rider while the delicious feeling of Rademerth's
lust flowed through him.

N'call showed up to stand with the other riders around the tall rider.
This wasn't his cup of tea as far as flights went but he liked E'naer
well enough and he'd always support Haloth. He could feel the
building lust of his bronze through their link well enough to know
there would come a time where his own preferences wouldn't matter in
the slightest.

Eillispeth was ready. Glowing like a gem, she shot up to the air. She
found thermal and soared higher and higher.

Haloth leaped after the green and though he was behind the much faster
blues he was well off the mark after the green. She was smart and
experienced and he bellowed his intent to catch her.

Galerith didn't waste any time going after him. The big blue was prepared
for a long flight...he knew this green and she was experienced and
full of clever tricks.

Oh faster and faster still! He couldn't compete with her speed like
the blues could but once he gathered momentum, he couldn't stop. And
luckily, one of his wingbeats equaled two of hers. Jodeth used the
thermals to gain even more, and he could see her. Such a creature! He
ached to twine with her and make her his own.

Rademerth raced after Eillispeth. }:You shine in the sun,:{ the blue
said, trying to put his flirting lessons to use. }:I am the best and I
will catch you!:{

Eillispeth wasn't going to fall that easy. She just snorted and flew
faster. Twisting and turning, she danced in the air.

Rogueth was small for a bronze and agile, traits that he used to his
advantage in a green flight. He could follow her agile patterns and he
called to her as he did. }:Pretty green, you are fine and deserving of the
best.:{ And of course he was.

Eillispeth led them around until she started to tire out. It was time
to choose. She did consider her options. Some many to choose from.
Big, handsome bronzes, steady, reliable browns and few blues she
really liked of too. In the end, she went for youth...besides he was
handsome looking too.

Haloth veered off when he wasn't chosen, grumbled and flew lazily in
circles for a few minutes before heading back to his weyr. N'call more
than just a little frustrated picked the nearest moth and pulled her
into one of the mating cots.

Rademerth bugled his happiness as he twined his neck with the green.
J'kri grabbed E'naer, pulling the older man into kiss as he pushed him
into the flight room.

Galerith bellowed his disappointment and turned to return home. Sh'lua just
shrugged it off and went to find flight month.
