He was glad the storm had finally passed. It had been a big one and
there had been a few moments where the thought the cave they were in
was going to flood, but thankfully the water had never reached the
highest parts so they had managed to stay safe.

Now, emerging from the cave, he turned back and reached a hand out to
Shilara. The sun was shining down upon them.

"Nice to be back in the sunshine, isn't it?" He asked, a gentle smile
lighting up his face.

Shilara smiled as she took Famell's hand and pulled herself out, her
water proof bag still slung over her shoulder and riding against her
back as she squinted from the sunlight, "It is. I was starting to get
a little claustrophobic in that dark cave." The hurricane had been
nasty and brutal, but like most storms, once it was gone it left
behind the most beautiful blue skies and sunshine.

"We had better go grab our things from the camp. They'll need you at
the Hall after a storm like that."

"You're very right. We should definitely gather up our gear and head
back. That was quite a storm, but I'd imagine the Hall fared better
than we did with all the preparations they have to keep things safe."
He held her hand as they walked. It had been nice to just spend time
with her, talking, and getting to know her better. He knew that for
the first time in such a long time, someone had found their way into
his heart. He wasn't completely ready to admit it yet, but he also
wasn't going to deny it either.

"I've enjoyed the time we've gotten to spend together, Shilara. I want
to have more time like this with you in the future." He paused in
their walk and looked at her. "I've not wanted to spend time like
_this_ with anyone since my wife passed so many Turns ago, but you've
rekindled something in me that I thought was long past." He hoped she
felt likewise.

Shilara stopped as Famell paused, her light brown eyes searching his
face as he spoke. She had never had a man treat her the way Famell
did, or even talk to her the way the Hallmaster did- not even her
husband. What had started out as an effort to have some fun with the
handsome Hallmaster had deepened, and it was with a smile that Shilara
reached out for Famell's hand, "I am glad to hear that, Famell. I've
enjoyed this time together as well," she squeezed his hand softly,
"and perhaps there can be more time like this when we get back?"

"I would like that very much," Famell replied. "Very much indeed,
though I'm afraid some of those times might have to be put on hold for
a bit. I had received a message just before our little trip that I am
needed back north for a spell. I'll be leaving shortly after our
return to the Hall, but I would love to spend what time I have before
I depart with you." He smiled feeling a sense of peace, happiness and
joy settle in his heart knowing she wanted to continue this little
adventure between them the same way he did.

The mention of his upcoming departure caused a furrow in her brow,
"How long do you think you will be gone?" Shilara hated the thought
that so soon after developing something more between them Famell would
up and leave.

"I'm not sure, to be honest. At least a month, maybe more. I'm to
visit the Seacraft Hall to check on the pod there, then head North for
a conclave with the Northern Masters. That will tie me up for some
time before we begin visiting the pods to the North. Then they are to
join me here as we visit various pods here in the South." He gave her
a sad smile. "I wish I didn't have to go, but this is one trip I can't
avoid. I _will_ miss you greatly during this time and will be counting
the candlemarks until I can return to you."

Shilara nodded slowly, and then glanced back up at the Hallmaster,
"Well, let's get you back then. The sooner the leave, the sooner you
can return." She smiled.

He returned her smile. "I'd rather spend more time with you before we
go. Perhaps just a few moments more. Just us. Alone." He knew they had
to prepare for the return journey, but he didn't want their time
together to end either.

"Let's plan on taking another little trip of our own, just us, once I
return. What do you think?"

She stepped closer to Famell, and raised on the tips of her toes to
press a kiss to the man's lips, "Alone sounds nice, and another trip?
I am a very lucky girl."

He returned the kiss with desire. What would a little more time spent
on the island hurt? Taking her hand in his, he led her to a spot that
was padded with soft grass. Patting the ground he gestured for her to
join him.

Shilara didn't need further invitation but eagerly joined Famell. She
wasted no time wrapping her arms around his neck and pulling him down
for a kiss. If this was going to be their last moments of privacy for
a while, she wasn't going to waste it.

He returned her kiss, and for the first time in many, many Turns he
let himself go. He hadn't lived in the moment in this way in so long.
It felt oh so good to just enjoy the time with Shilara by his side.
