Talwynn sat in a corner of the Dining Cavern, brooding. It was cold.
The skies were heavy with dark grey clouds, and snow was falling and
beginning to pile on the ground. Her leg and her hand ached. She'd
spilled her klah. And she was going to _kill_ the first person who
asked her to carry a message today.

Outside, Riveth stirred from her weyr ledge. She arched herself and
preened there, seeking to draw the attention of the males with her
glowing hide despite the distraction of the snow. }:I rise! Who will
come after me?:{

}: I chase! :{ Aznith rumbled his intent and burst out of Ma'din's
weyr to land on an outcropping above Riveth. Intent eyes peered down
at the green, his talons scraping against the stone rhythmically.

Ma'din nearly spewed his klah over his plate at the sudden rush.
Shaffit, again? Aznith was bound and determined to fly every single
green in the effing weyr. He didn't know who the brown was chasing
this time, but perhaps he'd get more than a flight moth out of this
flight. He set down his klah and strode to the flight rooms, jaw
twitching.

R'axe whooped when he heard the telltale sound of Jayth scurrying from
his weyrcouch and out onto his ledge. The blue's head swung around
until he found the female who was standing out on her ledge, her green
hide shining magnificently, }:I will!:{ He called in response to her
question.

Talwynn let out an angry sound, mimicking her dragon, as she realized
what was happening. Finally she had an outlet for the restlessness the
proddiness had been bringing. She left her plate and limped out of the
dining room and towards the flight weyrs.

}:You will have to fly far and fast!:{ The green suddenly launched
herself off of the ledge and into the sky, creating a target for the
men to follow.

Jayth liked that challenge, and he roared eagerly as he leapt from his
ledge, his focus zeroing in on Riveth as he flew as close to her tail
as possible.

Galerith roared his own answer to her challenge and Juth responded too
.Sh'lua had to abandon his meal. "Why, oh why these things always
happen in most inconviniet times?" he complained to his brother. "I
agree, I'm _hungry_," M'shan replied. Together they jogged towards the
flight pens.

Aznith immediately took to the air in chase, immediately cutting off
Jayth as he swept his wings in powerful strokes to chase the glowing
green.

Ma'din entered the flightroom and paused, taking in Talwynn with a
critical eye. He'd seen her before, but Aznith hadn't chased her
green. His eye flicked to her ruined arm and then he shrugged as he
took his place in the circle. If Aznith won, the scars would be of
little concern.

Men surrounded her, looking at her with desire in their eyes. The part
of her that was still Talwynn let her lip curl in contempt - did they
think she would make this easy? She pulled back from one bronzerider
who reached his hand out to touch her.

The male dragons followed her closely in the sky. A decent pack -
blues, browns, and even a bronze. She could outfly them all for now,
make them work to claim her - she would not be an easy green like the
smaller ones who could not go as far! She went for height and
distance, frustrated by the lack of thermals in the snow. Fancy flying
could come in a bit.

K'ale joined the others around the rider and was soon melding with
Imalkyth as he manuvered through the pack chasing the glowing green.

Jayth enjoyed the green's determination and he admired her tenacity as
he followed her through the skies. He swerved out of the way of a
bulky brown, his whirling eyes never leaving the sparkling green prize
ahead.

Aznith gave a deep croon of encouragement to Riveth, his large wings
giving him the advantage when striving for height. The chill air did
little to cool his blood or his determination to catch.

Now that they were above the crowds, Riveth began to dance in the sky. She
let one brown come tantalizingly close before making a snap dive to escape
him, then changing her direction so that she passed close to the pack,
seeing if any of her suitors would get tangled in a mess. She wanted a
canny dragon who wouldn't get tripped up.

R'axe moved steadily closer to Talwynn in the flight room even as
Jayth weaves through dragons in the air to be closer to Riveth. This
was a wily, smart green, and the blue delighted in the aerial games
that she played. A good catch indeed.

Galerith eyed his rival suspiciously. He wanted to catch this green!
Using his big size, he pushed to the front row with sheer force.

Juth, still young, found himself falling behind. He just wasn't fast
enough to stay on the tail of agile green and his enthusiasm wasn't
enough to compensate for lack of experience of predicting her flight
pattern.

Intent on winning, Aznith followed the dive, pulling up before he
barreled into another brown, though his tail nearly slapped the
younger one in the face. His wings strained to bank and follow, his
eyes never leaving Riveth for an instant. Her agility was admired but
it was difficult for the larger bulkier brown to follow.

Imalkyth wasn't tired yet and he was persistent in easing in closer to
the tiring green even as she changed directions again and again. She
was tricky and her changes fooled him once or twice. But he'd learned
in recent flights and he crooned. }:Pick me lovely Riveth:{

She was tiring and she needed to choose one. She appreciated the brown
who had showed a good recovery from the dive, but in the end, she
sought a blue who had danced like she did. }:Jayth!:{ she called,
rolling under the blue to present herself.

Jayth trumpeted in delight as he snatched Riveth up and twined necks
with her. On the ground, R'axe eagerly scooped up Talwynn.

K'ale turned away disappointed only to be led to another room by a willing moth.

Ma'din snarled at his defeat and frustrated, grabbed the nearest moth
to drag her into a flight room.
