Wirnan

Wirnan

He rubbed a hand over his eyes as he pushed the hide away from him.
He'd been at the task for days now and it seemed neverending. During
the search for Benani much of the more mundane tasks around the Hold
had gotten pushed to the side. Now that the Lady Holder was home and
recovering, Wirnan felt as though he had a mountain of hidework to
catch up on.

He was, himself, still exhausted from the countless hours it had taken
to bring Lady Benani home and the aftermath that followed. There was
still so much to do and they had yet to capture the man responsible.
Wirnan worked closely with the guards and Lord Zathris to continue the
hunt for him. It was as though he had vanished without a trace.

Sighing he rose from his chair and turned to stare out the small
window in his office. He thought about another person. This time a
smile tinged the corners of his weary lips. Kaya. Throughout the
entire ordeal and hunt for Lady Benani, Kaya had been a different
woman. She was almost loving and caring towards him. It seemed she had
changed, yet he'd been so busy and overwhelmed that they'd not had
more that moments to converse here and there.

What had brought about this new change in her? He had to admit he
liked what he was seeing and wanted to open up his heart to believe in
her again, but then the doubt would return. Was it just a ploy of some
sort? A Trick? He didn't _want_ to believe that and throughout these
many weeks her kindness hadn't been followed with anything more than
conversation. She hadn't acted as though there was an ulterior motive.
Perhaps it was time they talked again about their future and tried a
new to make a life together.

Turning back from the window, his eyes fell on the heap of hides
awaiting his attention. Sighing, he realized any conversation with her
would have to wait. There was far too much to do to get caught up.
Soon. Hopefully soon things would return to normal, he could sleep
without fear that there was a criminal roaming free, and he would find
the time to have that conversation with Kaya. But, alas, for now it
was just more hidework to handle.
