Teseada stifled the gasp that threatened to escape. "But Genith just rose,"
she managed after a moment.

D'ale's mind whirled and his eyes shifted from one to another of the
people seated around the table. This was huge. "Wow," he mused.

Now that was something P'nal had not ever expected to happen. Was Dragonsfall
perpetually going to be bereft of Weyrwomen during the Pass? What had G'nir
done that Hygalia would just up and leave like that? His eyes slid over to the
Weyrleader, not exactly warm at the moment.

Only thing that kept G'nir's jaw dropping to the table was the decades
of training to not show too much emotion. Still, enough surprise
showed to make it clear he did not expected that and was taken off
guard.

"Wh-what? Are you si...sure?" he asked. He couldn't wrap his mind
around the idea. He thought all was fine between them. They worked
well together and he felt they were a perfect match. Admittedly, there
had been times when Hygalia had been annoyed or down right angry with
him. "Hygalia..." his voice was choked. Three small words from her and
he was feeling betrayed, like his world been turned upside down, and
perhaps... a piece broken off his heart.

E'naer swallowed and shook his head. He was not going anywhere and
Hygalia, leaving now...was out of her mind.

"Exactly. We will be confirmed as Senior at the new Weyr, and bring
new blood with us. Southern blood." She addressed Teseada first,
then turned liquid eyes on her Weyrleader. They had been beginning
to come to an understanding of sorts. They had worked well together,
despite the fact that she often wanted to punch him on his perfect
chin. Her voice softened and she lay a hand on his arm, though it
was no doubt unwelcome, "I know. But its perfect. I'm one of the few
that could travel and the only one willing." otherwise, they'd have
heard from the other Weyrs that their Weyrwomen were leaving.

"Tes is very capable of taking on Senior duties until you find an
older goldrider. And clearly, her queen is the one for this Weyr.
She laid a gold egg, after all. Perhaps the next goldrider will be
the one for whom you're looking." She ran her fingers through her
hair, and then addressed all of them.

"You are all wonderful leaders and I have enjoyed my time here.
Genith and I feel like we need to move on, though, and this is perfect
for us. And U'kaiah..." She looked only at him. "I'm pleased
you will come. One familiar bronze to Genith will increase your
chances at being Weyrleader. That would please me greatly." A hint
of promise, even though she knew he was basically already attached to
two women and 3 children.

The big bronzerider nodded with a slight smile acknowledging Hygalia's
veiled hint. Long Harper fingers shifted the stack of hides in front
of him and he pushed them in front of his 'second. "D'ale is fully
capable of leading Cyan in my absence," he told G'nir. Whether or not
the Weyrleader chose to honor his opinion or not was up to him.

D'ale pulled the hides toward him with a deep sigh of resignation.
These decisions were all out of his hands but he would do whatever was
necessary. The stunned look on G'nir's face spoke volumes about how
the stoic Weyrleader felt about their now former Weyrwoman. He knew
he'd have that precise look on his face if Yanley ever left him.

Teseada's face flushed with the praise, but then she turned to the other
goldrider. "Are you really sure about this Hygalia? It's a big decision, and
I'm not sure I'm ready for this."

P'nal himself was thinking more along the lines of the Weyr was in a bad
place. Teseada had done well with the last clutch, sure, but what about the
one before it? That hadn't been too long ago. No, they needed a strong
senior queen with turns of experience. And if her leadership was temporary,
then who would they get to fill in the gaps. If the north needed goldriders and
no one wanted to go but Hygalia, then who would come to Dragonsfall? In his
mind, the answer was no one. And Genna was of course too young to enter into any
equation. And then-U'kaiah? They were going to lose an experienced Wingleader as well?
**Well this is just great.**

G'nir tried to pull himself out of his shock. He was going to have a
long talk with Hygalia after this, in private. "Fine, D'ale will be
acting as wingleader," G'nir said. His mindset was such that he didn't
care even if a greenrider had led Cyan wing as long as someone
did. "We need to ask for more riders then. We need experienced
goldrider, no offense Teseada, to train Genna and obviously we have
spots opening for bronzeriders too. I shall write letters to other
Weyrs." He kept wondering if there was something going on between
Hygalia and U'kaiah he hadn't been aware of. Didn't U'kaiah already
had his plate full with Tavia and Aileyan?

"I"m absolutely sure, Teseada. And you are quite capable. G'nir is
correct that we will be needing an older goldrider, one with many
turns of experience." she paused and glanced at the Weyrleader for a
moment. "One who is looking for a place to settle down and stay.
she had thought that was what she had wanted here, too.

"And perhaps a bronzerider or two, though there are plenty of others
not currently filling Wingsecond or Wingleaders roles that could
potentially take U'kaiah's Wing." She should know, they all eventually
tried to romance her for the opportunity to become a Weyrleader.

"It will be for the best, you'll see." she finished, this to the
group at large. She thought she mind stand and leave them to it and
shifted in her seat, but she paused in the act. Was there anything
else to discuss?

U'kaiah thought there was a lot to be said but what remained could be
discussed in private. Taking his cue from Hygalia. "I have nothing
further," he said.
