Description: Felyna gets ready to leave for Amber Hills, but not without ...
saying goodbye
Location: Emerald Falls Hold
Date: month 6, day 12 of Turn 7
Apprehensive at best, Felyna had combed her hair and put some fresh scent
behind her ears before dressing in one of her favorite dresses. It was
colored Emerald Falls colors as most of her clothes were, but it was only
calf length. A bit scandalous, really, but so much easier for getting
around when she needed to be several places at once. It flowed smoothly
down her slender hips - she had, of course - lost all of the weight she'd
gained with Felwal, and looked as good as she had before being pregnant, if
even just a touch slimmer.
Instead of barging in, though, she knocked.
"Corowal, husband. May I come in?" She called softly through the
partially open door.
"Of course you can," Corowal replied and tied the knot to a parchel he
wanted Felyna to take to Amber Hills. His eyes fell on her. "Nice dress, my
lovely."
She smiled to him warmly, please he had noticed her dress. She so wanted
to leave him with an image of _her_ filling his nights, since she would be
leaving him here alone, potentially with Erassa.
"Well, I want you to miss me while I am gone." Her smile brightened for
another moment, then faded as she stepped closer to him. "Corowal... "
She let a touch of her apprehension about leaving him show. "... are you
sure its alright if I go? I'll be gone for several weeks, I'm guessing.
At least 3. " A hint of worry showed in the unshed tears glistening in her
green eyes, worry for Benani. Was she alright? Would she even come home
again? And if she did, how would she be changed? She surely would be.
She normally did not let him see her as vulnerable, but someone had taken
_Benani_. What if someone took Corowal from her, or worse, took _her_
from him? While their match was not quite the love match Benani and
Zathris had shared, she, at least, loved him. Whether or not he loved
her was unclear, and frankly, didn't matter. He was her husband.
She took another step toward him, suddenly not wanting to leave him. For
that moment, all the hurt and anger of the last several months was gone and
nothing was in her face but the stark truth. She did not want to leave
him, and underneath all the planning, manipulation, and strategic choices
they made to keep their marriage publicly good, she did love him.
"I am still hesitant to let you go," Corowal admitted. "I fear for your
safety there. However, I also fear for Corofel's safety, and while you're
there, you can keep an eye on him." Besides, politics also played a part in
his decision. He wanted a close alliance with Amber Hills and this one way
to fortify it. Calling his son back was out of the question. That would
imply he didn't trust Zathris' ability to keep him safe.
"I know, Corowal." She shivered a little in her own fear. "But I do have
Xebex, don't forget. He can always be sent away if I get into trouble.
Perhaps if Benani had a flit, we could have found her by now... " She
sighed and went to put her head on his chest. "I will be safe, I promise,
and I will look after Corofel. He's been doing so well there. We don't
want to call him home; that would send the wrong message. But I would
love to spend some time with him, too. I know I'm not his mother, but I
love him too." She slipped her arms around his waist.
"I can send Xebex to you every evening with notes, if you like."
"I need to get one of those, they do have their uses," Corowal noted and
stroked her hair when she leaned to him. "You be careful there and don't go
anywhere without an escort. I would love to send Zandan with you, but he's
still on Green Valley."
As she leaned against him, she felt tears itching at her eyes. Her
marriage was on rocky ground and she feared leaving him alone for so long,
but she felt like she _had_ to go. If nothing else, Amber Hills might
benefit from having a Lady of her station in residence. Zathris was
beside himself, no doubt, and she could really help. They had the most
capable Headwoman she'd ever met in Zelanka, but it didn't mean it wasn't
useful to have a Lady. To say nothing of the political advantage. If
Amber Hills and Emerald Falls became even more closely tied, it meant
nothing but good for Emerald Falls.
At best, she could actually help bring Benani home. She did have a flit.
"I wish he could come, too. " She kissed him softly along his jawline.
"The dragon will be here tomorrow at mid-morning. " She leaned her head
back far enough that she could look up at him, but not far enough to put
any distance between their bodies. "Why don't you come home early
tonight?" The way she was curved against him gave a hint to her
intentions. If she was leaving him for this long, she wanted him back in
her bed tonight. She would make sure he missed her.
"Sounds like a good idea," Corowal murmured and slid his fingers along her
arm. "I also have so gifts for you to take Amber Hills. Mostly for
Corofel," he said before he would forget it. She sure knew how to distract
him.
She nodded to his request but stayed nestled in his arms for quite a bit
longer than necessary. She kissed him again and finally said softly,
"Forget early, why don't you come home now?" Her body was remembering that
it had been months since they had slept together, and for whatever else was
between them, they had _never_ had trouble in the bedfurs.
"You know, that's a best offer of today," Corowal said. "I just leave
Sarban a note..."
"Hurry, darling." she murmured, stepping away from him. "I'll go on home
and ..get read." She grinned. "Make sure the kids are occupied or gone,
make sure no one is around to bother us, and make sure we have snacks."
She winked at him, then disappeared out the door, intending to stop by the
kitchens on her way.
Home alone with her husband seemed, suddenly, the best place to be.
"I'm right behind you, darling," Corowal said. A man like him just couldn't
let something like that past him. He often let his libido lead which had
caused lot of trouble in the past (not to mention led to L'cor and
Erilite.) But this was his wife.
And she intended to remain his wife. This was the first step to that goal.
