Description: Illiana is broadsided by a very flirtatious L'cian.
Location: River Bluff Weyr
Date: month 9, day 21 of Turn 3
L'cian woefully trudged out of the tanners, one of his favorite tunics had just been given a death sentence.
It now had several missing buttons and a few unsightly tears after a run in with a rather overly anxious greenrider. He'd hoped the tanner or at least the tailor would be able to rend the tears and replace the buttons, but no such luck. Just as he had given up on the day and decided to be miserable, something caught his eye that cheered him immensely.
Walking the same direction as he was a tall redhead; he'd only glimpsed her profile, but so far everything seemed quite lovely indeed. She was dressed a bit boyishly, but L'cian thought she pulled it off nicely
- and that he would like to pull it off nicely, too.
Illiana walked down the hall with a bit of a skip in her step, she was in a good mood, why she didn't quite know. As she walked she hummed a little tune that Jerric had taught her on the gitar. She didn't even notice the dragonrider behind her, she was too busy thinking about the chords on the gitar and the placement of her hand.
L'cian sped up a little to keep pace with her. "You know that for that chord our third finger is supposed to be on the fourth string and not the second?"
Humm?" Illiana said as she slowly registered what the dragonrider was saying. "Oh! Sorry, I was lost in thought."
She grinned and looked down at her hand which was still in the placement of the chord. "Like this?" The candidate asked as she changed the poistion of her third finger.
"Now you've got it." L'cian nodded approvingly and flashed his most charming smile. He leaned in a little bit. "My name is L'cian, by the way."
"I'm Illiana, pleasure to meet you." She offered her hand that she had been playing the invisable chords with.
"Are you a harper's apprentice, Illiana?" He decided that it was probably a better idea to start off slow with this one, she seemed a bit young to cut right to the chase.
She shook her head. "No, actually I'm a Beastcrafter Journeywoman, but I have a friend who was teaching me some chords on his gitar." She explained. "How about yourself? Do you have a Craft?"
"No ma'am. I never intended to be anything but a dragonrider so I figured it was a waste of time to do anything else." He winked.
"And what would you have done in the event that you didn't Impress?" Illiana wondered, a silly little grin on her face.
"I was determined to Impress and I did. No need to have a backup plan." L'cian tried to sneak an arm around her waist. "And what about you, little lady?
Will you become a Beastcrafter if you don't Impress?"
Illiana side stepped from the dragonrider, remembering all the times that her brothers were watching her and any guy she talked to would get a stern warning from them, and some had been given a black eyes or two. "I will probably continue with my Craft in the event that I don't Impress. Honestly I'm not really expecting to Impress."
L'cian was completely diverted from the conversation.
"So you're just going to reject me outright like that?" He gave a playful pout. "I can't remember the last time a Candidate shot down a bronzerider like that. Your generation has no respect for their not-so-elders."
Illiana's mouth dropped open, and stared up at the bronzerider for a long moment trying to think of what to say. "I . . . well . . . I have five older brothers." She blurted out, as if that would somehow help everything make sense.
"Yes and I have three sisters and a twin brother..."
He looked at her a bit strangely. "I don't quite follow."
"I guess I am just used to them being around and keeping a _very_ close eye on me. They were a bit protective of me." She explained while chewing on her lower lip, a habit of hers when nervous.
"All right. I'll behave." He gave her a little bow.
"Illiana, dear lady, I will trouble you no more -
today." With a charming smile he turned off her path and went about his business for the day.
Illiana stood there feeling like a bit of a halfwit.
Taiking in a deep breath she continued on her way, humming the same song as earlier and playing out the chords on her invisable gitar.
