Toriat rushed to the infirmary holding his hand. While scrapping a hide the knife slipped. He wasn't sure how bad it was, other then skin must have been broken since he was bleeding, but shards it was painful.

After a sharp intake of breath he had grabbed a scrap **Not so clean though, hope it won't infect** and ran off. As he approached the infirmary he began to slow down, jog, then walk. "A little help?" he said, glancing around.

Arilanna looked up from the desk where she was going over some out-patient files as an apprentice knocked then entered. Ever since she had made Senior Journeywoman she had been given more responsibilities, and she was finding that her free time was becoming more and more scarce. "Yes?"

"A young man just came in with a cut on his hand, I have him in room one." the junior apprentice explained.

"Where's Hethran?" She said with a sigh, she wasn't supposed to be on duty right now, Arilanna had just come in to catch up on paperwork.

"I saw him leave a minute ago with a pregnant woman. Do you want me to have him wait?" he said uncertainly and then added with more energy, "Or I could tend to it, and just come and get you if it looks bad."

She smiled at his effort, but shook her head as she stood, "No, that's alright, I'll go and see him. You can _observe_."

"Hello?" Toriat said thinking he heard someone approach. He had been lead to a room and was now sitting, clutching his hand still. He hoped he wouldn't be waiting for too long, now that he was sitting still he was getting nervous about the blood flow.

"Hello there," Arilanna said smiling as she walked in the room. As she dipped her hands in redwort she added, "I hear you cut yourself, what happened?"

"I was scrapping a hide, and the knife slipped. I must have loosened my grip on it, and sliced the other hand." His teeth began to grind a bit. He was trying to ignore the pain of the cut. A foolish cut too.

Arilanna removed the cloth slowly and examined the wound. "Well it doesn't look deep." she said thinking out loud to soothe the man, "let's try cleaning it up and see if it needs stitched".

"Yes, please," he said breathily, trying not to betray how much it hurt.
"That sounds, good."

After she had cleaned the area and made sure there was nothing foreign in the wound she started applying a salve to ease his obvious discomfort. "You pretty much just scrapped all the skin off the side of your hand. It'll take some time to heal, but you'll be fine."

"Ooo, oooo, thats good, yes, thank you," Toriat said, making semi-whimpering noises as the pain began to slip away. "I'll be able to use it, just fine, right away?" he asked, wondering if that was too optomistic.

"Well, it depends on how you want to use it." Arilanna replied with a grin as she passed the hand over to the apprentice and signaled him to dress the wound. "You want to keep this dry at all times, hand wounds have a nasty habit of becoming infected, so don't do anything with dyes or whatever else wet you use when tanning. Otherwise, you can use it as normal." She gave the apprentice a nod when he finished, "And make sure you come back here if you notice any redness or swelling."

"Alright, thanks," Toriat said, mentally running through the list of what that left him to do. They could probably put him on harness or clothing duty. It made Toriat feel a little guilty, since these were activites he enjoyed more anyways. "Yes, I certainly come back, of course," he said, constantly nodding now.

Arilanna stood up to leave, hoping that Hethran was back so she wouldn't be interrupted again, "Well, we're all done now. Just remember what I said and you won't have any problems with it."

"Ok, yes, I will," Toriat said, instinctivly clutching the hand, even though it was wrapped up quite a bit. "Thank you for you help Journeywomen."

She gave a quick smile, "That's what I'm here for."
