Location: Green Valley Hold

Notes: EFH-Green Valley Minor Hold
Two hats sat upon the holders that Relea had managed to create out of some
spare wood. She'd constructed them with no little effort, her fingers
used to the pliability of fabric as opposed to the rigidness of the tree
by-product. Still, it allowed her to place the hats at an angle that was
similar to how they would sit upon a head. They were both lovely, soft,
gentle hues, one of green with undertones and accents of pink the other of
various shades of blue. They were both for Reven's mother who seemed to
take a shining for her creations. Relea was glad someone besides her was
wearing them at least.
"And then_she_ said, 'I don't take to no one being in my kitchen, not
even the holder himself!' and proceeded to swat at me with her wooden
spoon!" Reven told Coran, his eyebrows lifted at the story he was
telling, "I am just glad that it was early morning and there weren't
as many workers in the kitchens yet. How embarrassing, the holder, ran
out of his own hold's kitchen." The man shook his head, although he
did not miss the way the corners of Coran's mouth twitched up and
down. "You think it is funny?"
Coran burst out laughing then as they walked, "Incredibly! The Mighty
Reven, put into his place by a squat little woman wielding a wooden
spoon. I am only sad that I did not get to see it for myself."
Reven shot his younger brother a sideways glare, "Yeah, well, you just
wait, if you ever have to go deal with her I'm sure you'll come out
wearing a red mark on your face in the shape of a spoon."
The two men were headed to Relea's quarters where the woman had ready
two of the hats that Reven had commissioned for his and Coran's
mother. With the rumors of infedility that still swirled around him,
Reven was taken extra caution not to be put into any situations with
Relea that would cause further murmuring. Thus, he only visited with
the woman when Coran was present.
Just as the were drawing abreast of the door, an apprentice, Jakken,
came jogging up, "Journeyman Reven! You have to come quick! A kitchen
drudge is in the infirmary, she had a pot of boiling water tip over on
her while she was bent over getting bread out of the oven!"
Reven automatically winced at the description of the incident. Boiling
water was no small thing. Coran automatically went into healer mode,
"Of course, give my apologies to Relea." He told Reven before hurrying
off with Jakken toward the infirmary.
That, again, left the Minor Holder alone with Relea. **I even_tried_
to prevent this.** He thought with a sigh as he stood outside the
woman's door. **Well, it will only be a moment. I'll get the hats and
leave, simple as that.** He decided before jiggling the door handle.
It was useless to knock, the deaf woman would never hear it.
Anyone who knew Relea well knew she left her door unlocked when it was
all right to just enter. Otherwise, she'd never know when someone had
come to see her. As such, she had no issue with the Holder making his
way into her chambers of his own volition. She smiled and greeted him
in her sign. "Good day, Holder Reven. I hope you are well."
Relea flashed a smile as he read her hand signs, which he was becoming
quite good at, except he was still a little rusty about making them in
return, "I am, and I hope you are as well. Coran sends his apology, he
was called away on an emergency."
"He is a healer." Relea had a feeling it would be a part of life if
she and Coran married. She would have to get accustomed to it. "Here
are the hats." The young woman slid to the side to reveal her
creations. "Do you think she'll like them?"
Reven was, inevitability, a man's man in every way, and so he had no
real way to judge fashion, but he could spot good craftsmanship when
he saw it, "I am sure that she will love them." He smiled.
"Oh good. Shall I wrap them up for you?" Relea had procured boxes
for she had the notion that Reven wouldn't have desired to walk
through the hallways with a couple of ladies hands in his hands. It
had made for an amusing image, however.
"That would be perfect, thank you, Relea." With all of the rumors,
carrying around ladies hats would probably become skewed into some
horrible rumor that Reven didn't even want to imagine.
Relea slid the two boxes from beneath her bed and opened them. With
great care, she placed each hat into one and then closed each so they
colours were hidden from view. That done, she turned and signed, "I
could make you ha hat if you like."
"I will get back to you about it." Reven told her as he produced money
to pay for the hats, "Thank you again, Relea." He said as he collected
the boxes.
Relea accepted the marks with a grateful nod. Reven had been the
reason she was out of her brother's reach and even earing her own
income. It gave her a sense of pride to know she could take care of
herself, despite what her father and, most likely, some other people
thought. "Be well." She signed with her single empty hand. "Thank
you."
