It was a few candlemarks later when R'yin stirred beside his lovely mate for the evening. He leaned over to her and breathed a kiss to her temple. His voice was soft, and husky from love-making noises.
"Syntara? Are you awake?"
Syntara gave a tired little moan and pressed herself against him. It wasn't much of an answer but it was about as much as she could manage in her present condition. It had been a long day.
R'yin murmured back just as sleepily, but said in the same soft whisper.
"Can I convince you to come back to my Weyr? Or shall we stay the night here?" He leaned down to kiss her once more, this time on the lips, his hands running across her lovely hips and side. "I don't want the night to end just yet.." as desire began to rise again with the fading of Flight lust.
As tired as she was, something inside her responded to the tone in Ar'lis's voice. "It's raining, let's just stay here." She managed to get out. The last thing she wanted to do was end up in his weyr and pain herself further, but while they were both here, it was like the past didn't matter.
That was, until Syntara turned over, opened her eyes and realized with a pang that it hadn't been Ar'lis that had won the flight - it was R'yin and while that wasn't totally unpleasant, it wasn't Ar'lis.
}: You didn't want Ar'lis to win - I could feel it. so I didn't want Zylarth to win, either. :{ Faylith broke into her mind sounding rather pleased with herself. }: Aerrath was the only one worthy of me today. :{ Syntara groaned.
R'yin looked confused at the sound she made. Her eyes and her groan gave her away. He let her go with a faint sigh. "Surprised, are you?
Shall I leave you alone?" He asked softly. He didn't know what she was thinking, but he could tell she was not pleased to see him. He knew it wasn't because he was a poor lover; he was capable enough in that area.
Besides, in a Flight skill fell far behind dragon-need. But perhaps her heart still ached. He sighed again. "No, no don't go - I just... nevermind." As much as Syntara enjoyed R'yin and felt connected to him, she wasn't quite ready to share herself fully with him - or to tell him that if it hadn't been for her influence over Faylith, he wouldln't have won the Flight. She shrank against him.
R'yin's desire fled a bit in the face of her obvious sadness. He wanted her again.. he could tell from the warmth that came from her leaning closer to him. Yet in the face of her .. lack of excitement... well, let's just say, it was too much for his fragile self-esteem.
"I won't go, if you don't want me too, Syntara. But I am glad it was us... " genuine honesty, the painful kind, crept into his voice. His heart longed for Ciara, but he knew she could never be his. And he was just.. just now.. beginning to move on with his life, and learning it wasn't about someone loving you. It was only about _you_ loving _them_.
"Would you like me to just hold you for a while?" He offered, not feeling up to demanding attention of the other kind unless she showed an interest. He could be assertive when he wished to be, but for some reason, he sensed now was not the time for that. Perhaps.
"You can hold me later." Syntara easily slid her body on top of his.
"For now I suspect we both have a little more dragonlust to work off..."
Feeling more like herself than she had in ages, she began placing kisses along his chest. Although a part of her still wished that Ar'lis had won despite her wishes, the rest of her was rather glad to have R'yin with her now and she decided that she should show her appreciation.
R'yin was startled at the change, almost as if she'd made a decision.
But he was badly in need of just what she was offering, so he pulled her to him roughly, his lips tracing kisses across her breasts so tantalizingly close to his mouth. His hands slip down to cradle her hips, and she could already feel how _much_ he wanted her, again..
"Later.." he promised in the same husky voice, before he lifted her head to claim her lips in a fevered kiss as dragonlust boiled up around them once more, only this time directed by the human halves. He would make her glad it had been he and Aerrath, and forget the other greenrider that haunted his thoughts in the doing of it, or so he hoped.
