Reven

Reven

The hardest part of being a man in charge, Reven was quickly learning,
was simply making time for all of the people that wanted to speak with
him. He was still learning which people to redirect to the Steward and
which people actually required his full attention. Knowing he had an
appointment, Reven retreated to his office with a cup of klah, just in
time for the knock at his door.

"Holder Reven." Leaton bowed to the man then straightened before he
stepped further into the Holder's office. "Thank you for seeing me."

"Of course," he stood and extended his hand to the man across the
desk, "and you are?"

"Leaton." The man gave a half bow at the introduction. "A pleasure
to meet the new Holder, sir."

Reven motioned for the man to have a seat, "It's a pleasure to meet
you as well, Leaton. Please, have a seat. Tell me, what brings you to
my office?" He said, getting straight to the point as he settled into
his chair.

Leaton moved into the chair and crossed his legs, then steepled his
fingers. He eyed the man thoughtfully, though not for too long. A
smile spread over his features, friendly. "It's about my sister."

"What's her name?" Reven asked, quickly realizing that he was going to
have to make a concerted effort to get to know the people in his hold.
Although he was sure that his mother would be more than willing to
fill him in on every minute detail of everyone elses' lives.

"Relea." Leaton waved a hand as if her name was inconsequential.
"I've been trying to make a marriage contract and can't seem to find
anyone suitable for her I was hoping, perhaps, you might be willing
to assist in this matter."

Reven leaned forward, resting his elbows on his desk, "Why haven't any
of these contracts worked out?"

Leaton spread his hands apart. "Relea is deaf, has been since she was
very young and that seems to deter men from taking her as a wife."
And gave him no end of headaches.

"I see," Reven really had no experience in these sort of matters but
be supposed it was something be would have to learn more about it.

"I'd like to meet her then before I start looking at eligible bachelors."

"Of course." Leaton's hands came back together and steepled once
more. "When would it suit you?"

Reven mentally went over what his schedule was and then wrote himself
a note, "Day after tomorrow sound fine?"

"Certainly." Leaton wished it could be earlier. The sooner Relea met
Reven, the sooner the holder could look for someone to take her.
"What time?"

"Midday will be fine, I usually eat late." Reven answered, writing
Leaton's name on his ledger so he wouldn't forget.

"Well then, we'll be there."
