K'ale

K'ale

"Hello handsome," Hanni said with a grin as she plopped herself into a seat
in the dining cavern next to the brownrider. "All lonesome like this, it's
not good for you."

"Hi Hanni," he smiled a little uneasily. He wasn't quite sure but he
thought she'd caught him staring at her in the wing meeting that
morning. He shrugged a little. His usual friends were otherwise
occupied so he'd just sat at the first free table he'd come across.
"How are you?"

"All the better for some attractive company," she said, inching a little
closer. "Someone fun, who won't drone on about keeping the right distance
apart all the time," she said. That had been a point made in the meeting
that morning, about how they needed to tighten up a little, but there was no
harm in teasing her wingmate, no harm at all.

He laughed, still a little uncomfortable. "Uh yeah," he nodded. P'nal
had gone on and on until he'd wanted to roll his eyes in frustration.
"I didn't think he was ever going to stop." He could smell the fresh
scent of sweetsand on her skin. "You're pretty good company too," he
said and thought it sounded a little lame.

"So, what do you do for fun?" she asked. She hadn't seen him at any of the
parties she'd been to, and he didn't seem to mix with the same crowd as her.

"Oh," he said thoughtfully. "Sometimes I hang out with friends or work
on my craft. Have you been to the tavern at the Vintner Hall?"

"A few times, it can be an 'interesting' evening, if you'd let it."

He blinked and a slow smile spread across his face as her meaning sank
in. "It sure can." Of course he wouldn't say anything about it but
he'd seen his da there making eyes with one of the holders women. That
had made him uncomfortable in the extreme and he'd dodged out of the
place in a hurry.

"Would you like to go sometime?" He thought he sounded a bit silly but
hopefully he'd read the situation right. "With me I mean."

"Sure I would, handsome." He was rewarded with a smile.

"Great!" He returned her smile. He wanted to tell her how lovely he
thought she was but somehow found himself a little tongue-tied by the
whole conversation. "Um, when would you like to go?"

"How about the next restday?" Hanni leaned in a little closer, enjoying how
flustered he seemed. "No early morning drills to brings us back earlier than
necessary."

"Good idea," he smiled as she leaned a little closer. He found he
liked her a little closer though it seemed to make him breathe a bit
faster. He wasn't completely inexperienced but he sure seemed to feel
that way around _her_. He cleared his throat unsure what to say next.
"Can I get you a dessert?"

"One of those sweet cakes with raisins in, they're as good as a lover's
kiss," she said teasing him.

Sudden steam caused a roaring in his ears and reactions elsewhere on
his anatomy. "Ok," he said in a rather strangled voice and leaped up
to gather her requested item quickly returning to the table. "Here you
go," he slid the plate in front of her with a couple of the small
cakes.

Hanni couldn't help but notice his reaction, even as she slowly lifted one
of the cakes and took a bite. "Wonderful," she said.

**how does she do that?** he thought in awe as his discomfort rose but
his eyes were riveted to her lips around the cake. "Umm, yeah. Looks
really good." His smile was rather lopsided and distracted, but then
he blinked and his eyes flicked to hers. "Rest day you said?"

"It won't be long," she said, delicately flicking a crumb from her top.

And just like that his eyes were redirected to her cleavage. K'ale,
like any other member of the Weyr community, was familiar with the
sight of a female body. Community bathing left nothing to the
imagination after all. But there was something about a _clothed_
female with only certain parts visible that made it tantalizing in the
extreme. "It won't be long," he repeated softly.
