"That's it! M'chos is going to have to be given extra duties for at
least two sevendays!" P'nal came roaring into the Weyrleader's office,
tired of the stupid greenrider that refused to do as he should.

"What he's done now?" G'nir asked with a calm tone and lifted his gaze
from hides to meet his Second's eyes.

"You tell him to stay in formation and he thinks it's okay to skip to
another position halfway through drills. You tell him to be on time,
he arrives after inspections. We've tried minor punishments but
obviously they didn't take." His face was angry and it was clear he
didn't plan to tolerate further disrespect to M'chos' wingmates and
his wingleaders. "Today, he sharding fell asleep in the meeting!"

"Okay, so he needs a serious lesson on respect," G'nir said, drumming
the table top with his fingers. "Let's put him bagging firestone with
weyrlings and candidates and some night watches too...what is the most
miserable place to stand in watch in our territory?"

"He needs to be dropped on his head is what he needs," P'nal muttered
before thinking of an answer to the Weyrleader's question. "Probably
the coldest is that Hold near the mountain range that's not near
anything else..."

"That should do the trick. Cold and lonely. Two sevendays of bagging
firestone and standing night watches. If that doesn't work, we might
start thinking of sending him back to weyrling wing," G'nir replied
with slight malice. Of course, he would negotiate with J'darin, before
demoting anyone back to weyrlings wing.

"I just pray he behaves around the holders, but we'll see. I don't
know what else to do with him and he's going to get himself or someone
else killed." Honestly, P'nal couldn't understand what had given the
greenrider such a cavalier attitude in the first place.

"We can only try. If he's so stupid as to get himself killed, that's
just the way things are. If he gets someone else killed, it's a
tragedy," G'nir said with a sad sigh.

"Indeed. That's my worry. And after what happened..." He didn't have
to say their old wingthird's name. They were both thinking it. P'nal
didn't want a repeat.

"Yes.." G'nir was silent for a minute. "We still haven't find anyone
good enough to replace him."

"No," he quietly agreed. It was better to wait for the right person,
though, than to try and put someone in the position that was all wrong
for it.

G'nir frowned but there really wasn't anything he could do to rush it.
"I'm in a half mind about stealing E'naer from J'darin," he said
slowly.

"He's a good, experienced wingthird," G'nir replied. "But no, he's
needed most where he is now, working with the weyrlings," he shook his
head.

"I fully agree with that," P'nal nodded. "What about stealing a rider
from another wing to promote within ours?" That was something he had
been considering. Of course that person would be coming in without
knowledge of how they did things so they would have to play catch up
but if they had the leadership skills..

"That's one option," G'nir said. "We need to keep our eyes open."

"And maybe start watching other wings when they drill." Clearly his
mind was already running through the options.

"Yes.." G'nir's eyes narrowed. He rather enjoyed the possibility to
"steal" someone from U'kaiah's wing. Time was not lessening the
rivalry between the two bronzeriders.

"Hmm...do we have the other wings' drill schedules?" P'nal asked
quickly. If they didn't, he'd have to go around getting them. It
wasn't a problem, though he would have to figure out what to say when
they asked why.

"That shelf, left side," G'nir replied without even looking and
pointed a the right spot.

P'nal found it and then brought it down to the desk. Making some quick
notes, he copied down the times. "I can take the upper half if you
want to take the bottom half." G'nir watching wouldn't raise flags
since the Weyrleader usually watched other wings drill from time to
time. P'nal had to be more discreet.

"Fine," G'nir nodded.

"Meet again at the usual time to share notes. Do you want to give
M'chos the happy news?" **Stupid idiot going to get himself and others
killed**

"Oh, yes, send him over...let's say 15th candlemark," G'nir replied.

"Roger that. I'm going to leave you alone then and go find him." He
got up and put his dirty glass on the tray then headed out in search
of a certain greenrider.
