E'naer was obviously excited, happily excited, when he found T'bel
from the dining cavern. "Hi T'bel! Come on! You have to see it!" he
grabbed the younger riders arm and nearly hauled him to follow him.

"Hi....ugh!" T'bel let himself be dragged away. "What's gotten into
you? What do I have to see?"

"You'll see," E'naer replied mysteriously and led him towards his weyr.

"Okay." E'naer was rarely this excited, so it had to be good.

They reached E'naer's weyr and he pulled T'bel over where the heater
and the klah pot was. He had not had time to find anything more
suitable for it..her. He took the lid off and brushed aside the sand
enough to show the egg. "Eillie and I found a little treasure," he was
grinning.

"Ohhh....". All thoughts over anything else forgotten, T'bel leaned
down to take a closer look. "How...where did you find it? Is it
okay?" His smile lit up his whole face. On his shoulder Swift chirped
and leaned in for a closer look himself.

"I found a wild firelizard's clutch from the island a had my vacation.
Sheer good luck," E'naer told him. "Eillie assured me she made the
trip just fine."

"Does Eilli know how long it is until it hatches?" Swift slid further
down his arm, scratching him. "Stop that!!" T'bel eyed E'naer.
"You_sure_you want one of these?"

"She can't say when. It can't be too long, the shell's pretty hard,"
E'naer replied and gently stroked the egg. He chuckled at Swift's
antics. "Yes, I'm sure."

T'bel couldn't help but grin like a little boy watching for his
birthingday presents. He couldn't take it, he reached out and hugged
E'naer tightly. "We're going to have a new baby! Has G'wen seen it
yet? The way she is about queens, Neath'll probably want to steal it
from you."

"No, I haven't seen G'wen yet. I just got back from my vacation,"
E'naer replied. "I checked his weyr but it was empty."

"Yeah, thinking about it, I haven't seen him or Neath about, they must
be doing yet another transport duty. I'd love to know what he's up to
with all that. Maybe he's trying to get himself one of these." T'bel
nodded to the egg in the sand.

"Maybe. But hey, if she really is a Queen, she'll have clutches when
she matures up," E'naer said. Of course, that was still long off the
future. And the eggs wasn't hatched yet. He reminded himself from the
old saying: don't count the Hatchlings before the Hatching is over.

"Let's just hope this airhead here never catches her." T'bel nodded to
Swift. "I don't need that drama in my life, thank you very much!" He
could just imagine how well his weyrmate's tiny son would take that.

E'naer laughed.

T'bel grinned back but just then Fanth relayed news that came in from
the watch dragon at Emerald Falls Hold to Onnyth. "G'wen's collapsed?
What's happened?". The look he gave E'naer was of panic. "What do we
do?"

E'naer shook his head with instant worry. "Oh Faranth! One of us has
to go to see what's happening, other one has to sit on G'waren, to
prevent him doing something stupid..." E'naer said. And then there was
the egg. He touched the shell. There was no way telling when it would
hatch. Today or sevenday from now.

"You go, G'wen'll want you there if he's ill or hurt." T'bel took the
other greenrider by the arm and guided him towards Eillispeth. "I can
deal with G'warren. And Fanth'll keep an eye on that egg and let
Eillispeth know if there's any change. I'll keep Swift with it as
well."

"Thank's T'bel. You're a treasure. Just don't impress my gold," E'naer
said. It didn't take long to pull back on his flight gear, since he
had had barely time to removed them.

"I wouldn't dare! Now go.". T'bel all but pushed him onto
Eillispeth's neck. "And please, let Fanth know what's going on and
what kind of shape that little boy's in." Worry coloured his words.
Already he was looking to his weyrmate's ledge, looking for G'warren's
large blue.

"I'll let you know!" E'naer called, already jumping up to Eillispeth's back.
