Description: J'darin goes to find E'naer and G'wen and gets more of an eyeful that
he wanted
Location: Dragonsfall Weyr
Date: month 6, day 8 of Turn 6
It had been a good while since G'wen had been injured and then on
light duty, but the Healers had passed on his latest injury report,
and the youngling was fit for more duty now. And, Faranth knows,
they'd take whatever pair of hands they could get with this new crowd
of Weyrlings.
To that end, J'darin thought he would seek out G'wen and tell him that
he was going to be assigned to the Weyrling wing instead of sending
him to the Queen's wing - which he wasn't quite fit for yet - or just
not putting him any place.
But first, he would stop by E'naer's office and tell him, though he
suspected his 'Third knew already. He was sure that E'naer would be
pleased, he thought the greenrider liked G'wen and would be a good
mentor for him, in ways J'darin could
not be, nor did he precisely _want_ to be.
Knowing E'naer would be in his office at this time of day, and
unoccupied, he headed toward E'naer's office and knocked once before
opening the door without waiting for the "come in".
And regretted not waiting the instant he stepped inside, for what met
his gaze was E'naer, with G'wen, and decidedly occupied!
Mortified, G'wen slipped off of E'naer's lap and stood between the two
men. Thank the shell they had just put their clothes back on!
Though, he noted with dismay, the unmistakable smell of lovemaking
still hung in the air and he was sweaty, so what had just occurred as
obvious. Quickly glancing between J'darin and E'naer, he decided
wisely to let the 'Third do the talking.
"Umf, hi J'darin," E'naer said uneasily, stood up quickly and tried
to straighten his clothes. He was embarrassed beyond words and felt
terribly guilty. Here he was, caught doing something he was not
supposed to do during working hours, with someone who was
technically his underling.
J'darin's eyebrows climbed up high toward his hairline and he had to
forcefully stop himself from laughing out loud.
So it was like _that_ was it?
He manfully controlled his impulse to laugh, and pulled his face into
a stern semblance.
"Hi yourself, Wingthird." He said it specifically, meaning to remind
E'naer of his rank. Maybe his 'Third did need a vacation...though he
wasn't sure he could do without him.
"Interesting set of lessons going on here. Though, as it happens, I
was going to come and look for you anyway, G'wen."
He leaned against the doorframe and crossed his arms looking between
the two lovers for a long moment. This little romance might prove a
bit problematic with both E'naer and G'wen working together. He had
confidence that neither would let the distraction of a new lover keep
them from their jobs, but it was still a concern. One of the reasons
family members were purposefully kept in different Wings was to keep
them from being distracted by worry over their loved one. The same
would hold true for this pair, though admittedly, this Wing didn't
fight Thread, beyond helping ferry firestone.
"I have a new assignment for you, G'wen."
"Yes? Uh...sir? Yes, sir?" The boy's face was so red he could feel
it. If the ground were to open up and drop him in that this moment,
he would have been thankful beyond words. He didn't dare glance at
E'naer.
J'darin, did, however, spare a glance for his 'Third. In fact, the
glance was so narrow and so focused that it might have been a poke in
the chest. Just what was the man thinking? Then he mentally
shrugged it off. Attraction - especially at a Weyr - had no
definition, nor boundaries, nor 'best time'.
"The Healers say you are fit for light duty, though I am hesitant to
put you into the Queen's Wing yet, and I think they agree. But, if
you stayed in the Weyrling wing and became a Staff assistant, that
would be light enough duty for you, and you would be helping E'naer
out tremendously."
He paused, then went on. "You won't be teaching really - thats what
E'naer, T'mahl, and I are for - but you could be a bit of a mentor to
the younglings and help them with questions, and class schedules.
And help E'naer as he requires. Do you think you could do this? I
mean, are you feeling well enough?" He coughed a bit, and almost
blushed.
CLEARLY he felt well enough, if the pair of them and the
ahh...odor...in the air was any clue.
"Uh...right..I mean, sure..." Stuttering, G'wen wisely decided to
just shut up and let E'naer deal with this.
Unfortunately, E'naer didn't know how to deal with it. He was feeling
deeply ashamed. He had always had a high work morale and kept
play-time and work-time separate. Even when he was giving senior
weyrlings "lessons", he had done it on his free time. When did that
line get crossed? G'wen was chipping away his control. What if some
junior weyrling had walked in instead of J'darin. He didn't blush, he
paled.
"Yes, sir," he murmured after a very awkward moment. "This won't
happen again," he continued.
J'darin's own face turned stern as he watched the reactions of both
men. He finally took a few steps into the room, glancing from one to
the other.
"G'wen, you are here because I think you are capable of helping and
will do a very good job. But, you are young. And work... is work.
Play is ... play." The lad would know that, but it was necessary
for him to say it. Maybe more for E'naer.
"E'naer, you are the best Wingthird I've ever served with, and I know
you are capable and serious about your work. No harm done..Consider
it ..forgotten." And he really could do without the mental picture,
though it was more inclined to make him laugh than anything else.
E'naer was so dedicated. This was bound to bother him immensely.
G'wen was just... G'wen. But he knew the lad would do well. Neath
had chosen a fine match for her stubbornness.
He crossed his arms and added, to both of them. "I will trust you.
Both of you. Any questions?"
"No, sir. Thank you, sir," E'naer relaxad notably. He was still
feeling terribly guilty. Perhaps, if J'darin had yelled at them, he
wouldn't feel so much guilt.
J'darin wasn't going to yell at *them*. He might yell at *E'naer*.
But G'wen, to him, probably didn't know better. And he had been
attracted to the Weyrlingmaster Third for many months, if the rumors
were true, and he had every idea they were.
He was also satisfied that both were mortally embarrassed. And that
had its own scolding power.
"Alright then. E'naer, can you please come to my office with me? We
have a few things to discuss." He finished, with a nod to G'wen. He
wanted G'wen and E'naer separated for the moment, and plus, the smell
was decidedly bothersome. It was fading with the open door, but
still.
G'wen nodded back and breathed out. So that was that. He spared a
glance at his lover, feeling terribly embarrassed for him. This
couldn't happen again, not to E'naer. It didn't matter what people
might think or say about him but to think the same things about E'naer
wasn't right.
"All right, sir," E'naer replied. He shot a ashamed glance at G'wen.
He was just like a little boy caught stealing cookies.
