The hatching festivities had calmed down and she had danced quite a bit.
Taking advantage of the time she had, she cornered Hygalia finally as
she'd been meaning to do. "Ppstt.." Gesturing to a less crowded space
out of the way, she hoped the other woman would follow.

Hygalia nodded to the woman she had been talking to with an apologetic
smile. She had been hoping for a chance to talk to the rather busy
River Bluff Weyrwoman and was more than willing to take the opportunity
once it had presented itself. "Congratulations, Rhosyn! It was a fine
Hatching."

Strangely, Hygalia was the closest thing Rhosyn had to a female friend
if she had to admit it. The fact she didn't get to see the other
Weyrwoman
very often made it an odd relationship. "Thank you. I was hoping you'd
come. Did you see that one bronze? He was a fine little fellow."
Beaming, she remembered the real reason she had wanted to get her
cornered. "So how are things for you?"

The Dragonsfall Weyrwoman nodded in response to her earlier question. A
bronze was always good news. "I'm well. Very well. Things seem to be
going fairly smoothly at Dragonsfall these days. Which usually means
storm clouds are looming somewhere off on the horizon, but I'll enjoy
the fair skies while I may." Even if she had to see them from behind a
mound of hidework. "And you? How have things been going since last we
met?"

"Well there was the mess at Dolphin Cove's hatching but I'm sure you
heard about that." She frowned, thinking. "The silliest thing, though,
is I've learned Janani is jealous of me. She even went so far as to tell
R'enh and N'vanik they couldn't see me."

"What?" Hygalia said, screwing her nose in disbelief. She could
understand a Weyrwoman's pride, but she definitely felt it beneath her
dignity to have to order her bronzes to stay closer to home. As far as
Hygalia was concerned, her bronzeriders could go where they will. It
was their dragons that mattered. "You haven't told anyone else about
this, have you?"

"No. The boys told me and they're the only ones I've spoken about it
with. Not even K'sedel." Nodding, Rhosyn thought about things. "The
thing is, it makes me leery of going to Dolphin Cove at all even though
N'vanik of course told her no and said for me not to worry." She sighed,
looking at her hands. "After what happened with Traelyn and that,
though,
I can't help but worry about his relationship with his Weyrwoman. If
something else happens, it would very much upset him."

"What _did_ happen with Traelyn?" Hygalia asked, wondering if Rhosyn had
some sort of insight into the whole affair. "It all seems rather
secretive, which is rather worrying."

"Honestly, the one I'd want to talk to is that brownrider that was
living with her but he's long gone now." Thinking about the little she
knew and that night, she unconsciously straightened up in her seat. "She
didn't talk to anyone and it was a shock to all of us. N'vanik did say,
though,
that over time their relationship deteriorated. She never reached out,
asked for help-nothing."

"U'kaiah was involved somehow as well, from what I understood." And
that was most interesting to her, since he was her Wingleader and
potential future Weyrleader.

"Oh? I hadn't heard about any of that." Her eyes focused on Hygalia,
waiting for her to say more. "When she was at Dragonsfall before I knew
they were something or other, someone had said.." That was it though.
Rhosyn didn't see how that might effect her time at Dolphin Cove.

"Well, from what I understand, they continued their relationship after
she moved to Dolphin Cove, and then suddenly it stopped. I thought
perhaps you might know why." Though apparently Rhosyn couldn't fill in
that gap. "I suppose it has something to do with that brownrider she
was with, then."

"I know N'vanik really did like her after the flight and all. Like I
said, though, he says she just sort of changed as time went on and he
didn't know why. It came to the point where he was so busy trying to run
the whole Weyr that he didn't notice what she was doing." Putting her
hands
up in a gesture as to who knows what she was doing, Rhosyn shrugged.
"Honestly, if I could figure out where she went, I'd like to ask her a
few things for sure."

"Oh, now, come on. We both _know_ where she went," Hygalia said,
lowering her voice a little. "It's rare that someone cracks their Shell
so completely in the space of a couple days. It must have been
something that was a long time in coming. From what I understand, it
had never been really _easy_ for her at Dolphin Cove. I mean, who could
really respect her from the way she muscled her way into the top spot."

"I don't know _where_ exactly. It's all over and done with now, though."
She would never understand how the other woman could have done that.
Orlaith was the only thing on Pern that Rhosyn truly loved completely
deep down to her bones. "I just wonder about Janani. I asked around
about her while she was at River Bluff, but she never attached to
anyone. Apparently, she was more well known at Dragonsfall."

"I have no idea," Hygalia said with a shrug. She hadn't really delved
deeply into Janani's past connection to Dragonsfall. Perhaps she should
one day. But if she did find something out, she probably wouldn't share
it. Hygalia loved collecting gossip, but not necessarily sharing it.
"So you have a new Lord Holder in your territory I hear, and new Hold to
go with it. That's a rare thing."

"Aye, they confirmed him at the last conclave at Emerald Falls. There's
going to be a Gather." She considered the very little she knew about
Morin. "He's here, somewhere. I don't know him really. We'll go to the
gather, of course. Doesn't have any issue yet which sort of makes me
wonder how soon it's going to be before every unmarried woman in the
south heads this way."

Her companion snorted softly. "The migration has already begun, I'm
sure." What a prize he would make. "I've been invited, too. I have to
say, I'm rather curious about it all. And I haven't been to a proper
boat race in Turns."

"Mmm..it'll be good to see you again. How are you with G'nir? I had a
turn with him on the floor. Very different from K'sedel and N'vanik."
She couldn't hide her curiosity and she didn't want to. She hoped
Hygalia was happy. The other Weyrwoman seemed to be at least.

"We work well together, it seems. We compliment each other well. I
think Genith chose well." There really was not much else to say than
that. They were business partners of a sorts, and business was going
well in Hygalia's mind. But she wondered if that was what Rhosyn really
wanted to know. "Did you have a specific area in mind when you asked
that question?" she asked, a slight sparkle of merriment in her eye.

"Mm not really. He's a different sort, though if it works for you then
that's good." Rhosyn thought about K'sedel and absentmindedly searched
for him in the crowd. When she spotted the back of his head somewhere,
she settled back down again. "Your Weyrleader doesn't have a weyrmate
though, does he?"

"No, and no serious attachment I can see."

"Mmm." She looked up and saw someone waving at her with harper knots.
"Well crackdust. Looks like I have to get back to the party. Listen, you
should come visit more often. It's nice to have someone I can talk to
that understands." Besides that, she genuinely enjoyed Hygalia's
company.

"That would be nice," Hygalia agreed with a sigh. "Teseada is doing a
wonderful job for so young a goldrider, but I am definitely looking
forward to the day when I can pass more of this hidework off on her.
You can come to visit _me_ too, you know."

"Glad you have good help. Lenala-much to be desired with that one."
Rolling her eyes, she stood up. "I know, I know. You came here this
time so next time I'll come to you." It also didn't escape her notice
that Teseada's eggs were about to hatch anyway.

Hygalia rose after her. "And we don't always have to wait for some
event where we'll inevitably get pulled away after a few minutes," she
said, unintentionally answering her thoughts. "It was a beautiful
Hatching though, Rhosyn. My congratulations to you and your
Weyrleader."

"I'll tell him you said that. We were hoping for a gold egg but he says
it'll come when it's supposed to." She sighed, then brightened as a
tray of goodies went by. "I'll try to sneak off sometime maybe. If I
don't see you the rest of the night, thanks for coming and it was good
to see you."
