Characters: Jessmyr, S'vin
Description: S'vin stuggles to understand Jessmyr
Location: Dragonsfall Weyr
Date: month 5, day 13 of Turn 6
Notes: NPC: Unnamed girl
Mentioned: Birigundi
The girl was starting to really annoy Jessmyr. She was pretty enough
but pushy. If Jessmyr was not interested in what she had to offer (and
it was obvious even for Jessmyr what she was aiming for), any amount
of flirting was not going to change his mind. She just couldn't create
a spark of interest in Jess. Finally she left with an angry huff,
leaving Jessmyr to sigh with relief and to push his food around the
plate.
Passing by a familiar bluerider, the girl greeted him: "Hi, S'vin.
Maybe you'll have more luck with him," she pointed at Jessmyr.
The tall lad laughed at her and eyed Jessmyr. "The charms of our
lovely miss Henna not doing it for you then?" She'd try it on with
anyone that moved, that one.
She just snorted.
S'vin snapped his fingers at her. "Be off, you green-in-a-girl's body."
"What are you then?" she asked and walked off.
"A queen, girlfriend, and don't you forget it."
Jess had heard the byplay. He sighed. It would be nice to have friend
or two. He just had his cousin and he had busy life of his own, he
couldn't watch after Jess whole the time.
S'vin shook his head and sat down at Jess' table. "You look as happy
as a rainy day. What's up?"
"Nothing, and that's the problem," Jessmyr replied gloomily.
"Go on." S'vin propped his feet up and began nibbling on Jessyr's plate.
"About what? Besides work duties and sessions with healers, I have no
life," Jessmyr snapped bitterly.
"Oh, come on, everyone has some sort of life. What do you do all day
if you have no life?"
"I read," Jessmyr replied, "and take walks." ** and watch the
weyrlings with envy.**
"Anything else? Have a girl--or boy--friend?"
"Nope and not interested in one either," Jessmyr replied.
"Well, aren't we the charming one?" S'vin took a sip of Jessmyr's
drink and eyed him.
"Having healers tell you that you can die in any moment, especially
during highly stressful or exciting moments," Jess stabbed his tuber
with such a force that it broke a part and the pieces flew off the
plate. ":..puts a damper on things." Getting agitated wasn't good
either, he was already feeling the all to familiar flutter in his
chest. He closed his eyes and took few breath's, forcing himself to
calm down so his heart rate would calm too.
"Can't that be worked on?"
Jessmyr shook his head mutely.
"Oh..." What to say now? "Erm..you have family here?"
"Just my cousin," Jess sounded downhearted.
"Who's your cousin?"
"Birigundi."
"Ah, our perpetual Candidate. No wonder you're cranky." S'vin did a
fair imitation of his friend G'wen's eye rolling.
"Everyone expects us to be cuts from the same tree," Jessmyr pouted.
"Well..." What more could he say? S'vin glanced at Jessmyr and
wondered if he should go and get breakfast.
"Exactly," Jessmyr murmured darkly.
At a loss for words, S'vin began whistling in the air. **Kadeth, if
there was ever the time to want a bath, now is it** But the blue was
asleep.
Jessmyr smiled grimly. That just proved his point. If he wasn't what
they expected him to be, they didn't know how to deal with him.
