Description: Reanth Rises!
Location: River Bluff Weyr
Date: month 4, day 14 of Turn 6
The first time Jaylene snapped at her wingleader and his son she just
smiled sheepishly. The second time she rolled her eyes after. The
third time she jumped up and paced about for a moment, to calm down.
The forth time she just hung her head in her hands. This wasn't going
anywhere. What the bloody shards was wrong now?
It took little Reanth waking to make her realize what was going on.
"My girl's Rising boys, gotta go!" She threw down her notes and raced
to the door. "You boys coming too?" Shaking her head at them, she
continued running down the halls, to get out to the Flight rooms. When
she got out into the bowl, Reanth was already flapping her wings,
getting ready.
Gormth was barely out of dragon infirmary and he already felt ready to
give a chase. Im're shook his head in disbelief when he heard Gormth
declare his intention. ** Are you out of your mind? What if you hurt
your injury again and get set back in recovery?** But reason was not
what Gormth wanted, he wanted Reanth.
Im're didn't have enough will power to pull him out of it, so he just
had to follow his blue and join the growing ring around Jaylene. He
was feeling more than bit apprehensive. Jaylene was a friend, what if he
actually won...the thought made him blush...or what if Gormth did over
extend his strength? Worries were just floating around his head.
U'das has no worries. He gave the lovely greenrider a wink while
Zackariath warmed up his wings and posed.
Jaylene was still herself enough to laugh and say, "if you catch me,
just wait til I get blackmail material on you, to send back to Uetia!"
S'yei was a fan of mating flights, if he could, he'd pass out samples
of wines at them and educate folks on vintages while they waited for
the outcome. As it were, however, Yalith was quite insistent on not
only participating in the flight, but actually _winning_ it as well.
Never one to pass up a good time, S'yei happily struck off down
towards the growing group of men around.... Who was it?
"Jaylene!" He said with a smile as he came near the Wingthird of his
Wing, "Let me win and I'll share some wine afterwards." He winked
jokingly, finding it even hard to get that out as Yalith was already
beginning to overtake his senses with his dragon lust.
A sharp pang of dragonlust spiked him and Y'gel asked **Who?**
}:It is Reanth and I will chase her.:{
The dragonhealer turned from his patient and told the journeyman at
his elbow. "You finish changing the dressing, I have to go." With that
he was off toward the flight room stopping only to wash the redwort
off his hands and dry them. He nodded a greeting as he moved into the
group around Jaylene. He was glad they'd had a chance to work through
their differences. He didn't particularly wish to wake up next to an
angry Wingthird.
D'arvn slid into the group avoiding U'das in the process. He still
wasn't very comfortable around his weyrmate's father. He was a bit
ambivalent when his lifemate chose to chase greens with female riders.
But at least he knew he liked Jaylene so that was a plus. He nodded
in her direction and smiled.
Leith had been watching this one for too long it seemed. Finally, she had
given the blue what he'd been waiting for. Opening his wings and stretching
them, he readied himself in a grand gesture. Turning his head, he brought his
eyes to focus on her. When she was in the air, he was as well, not at all
concerned about the others. A bronze couldn't keep up with such a green.
And the other blues-they didn't know her. They didn't deserve her like he did.
Not too much longer, E'rae walked into the flightrooms to see who else was
there. Such a crowd. Frowning, he found himself a spot away from the others,
allowing Leith his head to do what he would.
"I doubt anything I do will shock Uetia," U'das retorted back to her.
Jaylene would have answered in turn but then the tiny sea-green dragon
leaped into the air and the chase was on. Vaguely she was aware of the
men pressed about her but then she was one with Reanth. And she was
fast! With barely a flick of the tail, she left the males staggering
in her wake.
Enjoying the challenge and the chase, Leith was quick behind her. She was not
going to leave his sight. The blue's wings were working overtime and
his hide was visible, threadscore and all. He was a battle hardened
River Bluff dragon, shardit! He could do anything! Right now all he
wanted to do was twine tails with her. }:Fly little Reanth, fly! I'll
be here to catch you when you fall:{ he
told her in his his usual laconic way.
Gormth pushed himself to the air, going after the glowing green. His
injured shoulder still bothered him a bit and he didn't get a very
good start, falling to the back row of the chasers.
Zackariath, however, was alert and got up straight after the green. He
got a good position. He trumpeted his admiration for her, challenging
all the other males.
Yalith easily catapulted himself into the air with his thickly muscled
back haunches, his long, dark blue wings unfurling against the sky as
he gained altitude just behind the little green. The blue knew that
there were other dragons around him in the air but his eyes were
fixated upon his goal- Reanth.
The prize in question ducked her head under a wing and taunted them.
All those slow males, they were so far away from her! She soared up
on a thermal, enjoying the speed that made her one of the fastest
greens in the Weyr. If they wanted her they were going to have to
work a lot harder than they were!
Oh she was being coy.. Leith rumbled in response. The blue wasn't afraid.
He would follow her. He would take her to the heights and fall with her.
He was fast and he was agile, not as much as she, but he was pretty close.
Seeing the other males, he grunted with his efforts.
Aughashyth couldn't begin to match the acrobatics of the green and
more agile blues and browns but he flew strongly along encouraging her
to choose him. Strong and steady sometimes won the day when a green
darted away from a would-be capture and straight into his grasp.
Falzeth, just as agile as Leith called to the pretty green and darted
after each of her changes in direction. His hide reflected blue fire
back at the sun above the clouds, he'd just been oiled and his hide
shone with youth and strength. }:Pick me:{ he bugled into the air and
rose on the thermal right on her tail.
}:I pick the one that deserves me!:{ Reanth roared to him before
ducking quickly out of the clutches of an overeager brown.
Leith roared at the other dragon's audacity, trying to catch her before
she was ready. The blue would wait until she knew she wanted him. It
was her choice. Pushing himself through the sky as fast as he was able,
he began to feel the strain in his wings. He wasn't made for long flights
and he knew that. He just hoped Reanth would remember herself and tire
before it was too late.
}: I deserve you! I'm a bronze! :{ Zackariath declared loudly. He
certainly wasn't lacking self-confidence.
Gormth didn't say anything, all his strength was required just to
keep up with everybody else. The muscles he had injured were already
burning with exhaustion. He was still not fully recovered from the
Scoring and this extended flying was making it clear.
Reanth eyed her closest pursuers, making her choice. Unlike a lot of
greens she never saw the point in flying into exhaustion. Her role
wasn't to make hatchlings for the future so why tire herself out?
Folding almost translucent wings, she dropped into Leith's path as, on
the ground, Jaylene gracefully fell into E'rae's arms.
Gormth was actually happy it was over and he could return to his ledge
to rest. He was not going to fly any more today!
U'das quickly shrugged off the disappointment of seeing someone else
leave with the greenrider. When Zack was making his way back to home,
he quickly found comfort in some willing woman's arms.
Trumpeting in triumph, the blue quickly wrapped himself around the
green to begin the mating act. Leith's tail twined with hers and all he
could taste and smell was Reanth. As they fell to the ground, he nuzzled
her. }:You flew well. Now I will break your fall, little Reanth:{
As Leith opened his wings to stop them, E'rae closed his arms around Jaylene.
Embracing her as fiercely as his dragon's claws had her dragon, the bluerider
began to take the pleasure he craved.
D'arvn simply smiled and turned away into the arms of a pretty rider
standing nearby while Falzeth turned to a mountain top to rest his
tired wings for a span. She was very agile that one.
Aughashyth banked and strong wings beat slowly back toward the Weyr.
The big bronze was disappointed but not tired in the least as some of
the blues and brown's were around him. Y'gel, on the ground simply
turned away and brushed off the waiting moths. He was affected by not
so much that he couldn't walk away much as he had done when Liranet
was alive.
