Description: The aftermath of the night of passion.
Location: Amber Hills Hold
Date: month 2, day 19 of Turn 6
Kaya awoke first, wrapped in the arms of the man she had given herself to
the previous night. She trembled at his touch even now. Carefully, she
eased out of his embrace, slowly, cautiously, so as not to wake him. Her
throat tightened as she looked upon him, as she remembered what they had
done. She had given in so easily. Too easily. She had allowed the
desires of her flesh to rule her rather than common sense. She hurried to
the bathroom and closed the door, leaning against her. Tears stung her
eyes. What had she done? She shouldn't have! She wasn't his, he wasn't
hers! And yet, his kisses, his touch...
Her flesh began to get warm at the thought and she knew she had to do
something. She moved to the bathtub and quickly rathe rhte water through,
cooling it down. A warm bath wouldn't help, that much she had learned, so
she left it cool. When it was full, the girl slipped in and drew her legs
to her, wrapping her arms about her knees. He hadn't taken her by force.
Oh no, she had been all too willing. That was part of the problem. She
couldn't be with him. It wasn't going to work, She knew that from the
beginning. She had plans and she was going to stick to those plans. She
was going to have her freedom. She had to get away! Shardit...
But she couldn't. The caravans wouldn't come through til Spring and she
would be caught in snow and she couldn't worry about that _and_
Threadfall. She was going to have to be careful. She was weak against
the touch of a man. She had been weak against Ristin, she was just as
weak against Wirnan. It wasn't a matter of love, but a matter of flesh.
And she was going to have to guard very well against it.
So how would she keep it from happening again? She wouldn't touch him.
She'd hand him a knife and he could cut his ties should he get caught
like that again! But then there was the matter of sharing the bed. That
wouldn't do. She'd have to be very careful. She'd wait. Either say she
was coming to bed later and then stay on the couch once he fell asleep or
lie down and force herself to stay awake until she could move to the
couch. That would help lessen the temptation. She didn't want to fall
into it
again."
His eyes opened slowly. A smile of satisfaction playing on his lips. What
he'd desired had finally come true last night. His arm reached for her,
but when it found nothing but empty mattress, he sat up quickly. Looking
around the room he didn't see her, but the door to the baths was closed.
His brow furrowed in thought. Perhaps she'd just awoken before him and
gone to clean up, yet something nagged at the back of his mind. Last night
was still a bit fuzzy after the storm and how quickly things had changed.
Yet, she _had_ agreed to this. He would never have gone further if she
hadn't. Glancing down at the bed, he noticed the spot and his breath
caught. Yes, he'd nearly forgotten that. He _had_ been her first. Wirnan
was sorry he'd doubted her in his mind, but the things she'd done and what
his sister had said. They had made it seem like she knew more than she let
on.
Rising, her wrapped the blanket around himself and moved over towards the
door. Knocking softly, he called out her name. "Kaya?"
Kaya glanced up at the door. She hadn't locked it, but she didn't
necessarily want him to come in. She should have locked it. But she
didn't feel like talking either. She swallowed, afraid she might cry.
What was he going to think of her now? They had made an agreement and now
she had seduced him. Was he going to expect more of her? She would have
to make it clear it was a mistake. All a mistake and it wasn't going to
happen again. She lifted her voice, though it was muffled against her
knees. "I'm in the tub."
He'd heard a bit of a muffled response and worried that something was
wrong. Had he hurt her last night? Moreso than he should have. Opening the
door a crack he peeked in. "I didn't hear you. Are you okay?" He needed to
know if he'd been too rough with her, since it _had_ turned out to be her
first time.
"I'm fine." Kaya wasn't watching the door but she heard his voice quite a
bit more clearly. Her hold around her knees tightened further as she
continued to huddle in the cool water. "Just...soaking." Sort of.
He didn't go in any further, but he _did_ need to know. "Did I...did I
hurt you last night?" He waited, almost holding his breath, for her answer.
"It wasn't your fault. It was mine. I shouldn't have." Kaya didn't make
a move, didn't even look at Wirnan. She took a deep breath, let it out
slowly, then added, "I'm sorry. It won't happen again."
His jaw clenched at her words. His nostrils flared. "Finish your bath. We
need to talk," was all he said through gritted teeth before he turned and
strode back into the bedchamber, throwing off the blanket without a care
in the world. He quickly donned his pants and headed into the main living
area where he poured himself a good, stiff drink. Yes, he'd sworn off the
stuff, but today he felt he deserved a glass, maybe even the whole bottle!
Her words had fired him up, for to him it _wasn't_ a mistake, yet she
seemed
to think it was. His glass hit the table hard as he tried to calm himself
down. Maybe that wasn't what she meant. He would wait for her to emerge
and then _hopefully_ they could have a civilized conversation about what
had
happened.
It was a while before Kaya finally stepped from the bath chamber and even
longer before she emerged from the bedroom, fully clothed. She stepped
slowly into the main room, face schooled into a neutral expression, hands
clasped in front of her. The sight of his shirtless form made her pause
and she looked away. She had just calmed down, she didn't need to toy with
arousal again and the night before was still far too fresh in her mind.
"We need to talk," he said, turning to look at her. He didn't care that
he'd not put a tunic on. Shards she'd seen him in his full glory last
night. He moved over to one of the chairs and sank down onto it. He waited
for her to sit. How he was going to start this conversation he didn't
know, but he knew they had to have it.
She didn't want to sit. At least, she didn't want to sit near him. To be
honest, right now, she didn't want to be in the room with him because she
kept thinking about the way he had touched her, the feelings she'd had as
his lips met hers, the way...she shook her head and finally moved to the
chair on the opposite side, sitting slowly. Her hands clasped together
tightly fell into her lap and she stared at them.
He sighed. This was _not_ going to be easy. "Kaya. I need you to be honest
with me. Did I hurt you? I mean, more than, well," he ran a hand through
his hair as he let out a puff of air. "Did I?" She hadn't really answered
him before and he just had to make sure.
"It hurt. But..it wasn't you. I mean, not really. It was but it wasn't.
It's just...I've never...and you were the first so..." Kaya's words
weren't coming out right. She was trying so hard to be distant and yet
she wanted to reassure him. Her face scrunched up with her uncertainty and
she shifted in her seat, the soreness merely reminding her of the pain _and_
pleasure of the previous evening. Oh Faranth.
Well her words weren't exactly reassuring, but he was pretty certain that
she was okay based on what she'd said and how she'd said it. He cleared
his throat a bit. "It's fine, Kaya," he said, trying to reassure her. "I
know now that I was the first." He wanted to say more to tell her that he
was happy, but her words from the tub came back to him. "What did you mean
when you said it was your fault before?" He was trying hard to remain calm
and collected, so as not to make things worse.
"I shouldn't have." Oh but it had felt so good! And he had smelled so
good! And looked so good! And when he had touched her he...She swallowed
hard and tried to school her features, fearful of revealing the turmoil of
emotions that bubbled beneath. "I let myself do something I should have
never done. I'm sorry."
His face tightened, but he tried hard not to let her see his reaction. His
initial reaction was that she was saying he should not have continued, but
she hadn't stopped him! "I wouldn't have touched you, but I thought,
shardit. I thought you wanted it as much as I did!"
She did! Oh by Faranth she _had_! "I was tempted. I let myself be
tempted and it's my fault and I led you on. I'm sorry." She kept
repeating that but she wasn't sure what else to say. Kaya knew it
shouldn't have happened but she had let it and she needed to make sure it
didn't happen again.
He was confused. So she _had_ wanted it, but now she didn't? Or she never
did? Or was she blaming him? "Shards, Kaya, we _are_ married and likely to
stay that way for a very long time. You're my wife in all forms of the
word now. It's _allowed_ when you get married."
"No!" Kaya was suddenly on her feet, hands clenched into fists. Her face
was twisted. Regret, sorrow, anger, all tumbled together with a hint of
fear. "No...it's not right. It's not!" Without explanation, she turned
and hurried toward the bedroom, planning to lock herself in. She needed
to be alone. She needed to be where she couldn't look at him for a while.
"What?" He nearly shouted, thoroughly confused and upset by her reaction.
"Clearly we have _not_ turned a corner." Standing, he moved towards the
bedroom but didn't enter. "First you seduce me by tricking me into his
marriage, and now _this_! You agreed to it last night, but by the shell I
won't touch you again if it's the last thing I do! Not if I disgust you so
thoroughly you can't even _consider_ being with me." He _had_ let his
anger get the best of him. Grabbing a rather wrinkled tunic and slipping his
feet into his shoes, Wirnan turned and stormed out of the room. He had to
get away from her, clear his mind and try and forget how wonderful it had
felt to have her body beneath him. **Shardit, this is _never_ going to
work!**
