Description: G'wen has to beat off a couple of overeager blueriders, and an old face comes to the rescue
Location: Dragonsfall Weyr
Date: month 2, day 27 of Turn 6

"That one there," B'nar nodded to his blueriding friend and pointed
to a small, dark haired green weyrling. "That's the one that was
doing," and he mimicked a rude gesture, "to Sh'lua the other night.
What d'you think? I bet we can both get lucky with that one." Not
pausing to look back to see if his friend was following him, he
maneuvered through the party to get to the boy before someone else had
the same idea.

R'yaden grinned. "Wouldn't you just enjoy that," he said.

"And you wouldn't?" B'nir turned to grin at him before grabbing a
couple of drinks and walking right up to the boy. "Here y'go, you
look thirsty."

G'wen about jumped out of his skin when the drink was shoved under his
nose by someone he was quite sure spelled out no good. A similar
leering type was right behind the first guy. Great, and he had only
come to the party because S'vin threatened him bodily harm if he
didn't. Giving the two blueriders a hesitant smile, he said,
"no, actually, I'm not," before turning to look for a friend.

"Aww c'mon," R'yaden said in what he thought was his most persuasive manner.
"You mean you don't want to join us for a friendly beer or two?"

G'wen turned to him. "So what part of 'no' did you not understand?
The 'N' or the 'O'?" His voice held an edge that hadn't been there a
moment before.

"You said yes fast enough to Sh'lua." The tone was still reasonably
friendly, but with a hint of something not so pleasant behind it.

G'wen's face went white in anger. Turning completely around to stand
face to face with the jerk, he said in a low voice, "what are you
implying?"

"Well he was pretty happy after spending time with you, and I'm sure we
could be too," stated R'yaden.

"You could be, but you won't." G'wen gave him a cold glare.

>From behind, the first rider grabbed his arms, holding them hard to his
sides. "Listen, you little whore, come back to our weyr, give us a
little demonstration on what you can do and no one gets hurt, got it?"

"Let. Him. Go." The words were precisely articulated. F'neb had spotted what
was going on and walked over, placing a hand on B'nar's shoulder.

"Bugger off, we saw him first," B'nar growled at the taller rider.
None the less he loosened his grip on G'wen's arms, enough for the
weyrling to wrench himself free.

"I think it's clear he doesn't want to be with you right now," F'neb
gestured to G'wen to step away.

"Who cares what he wants? He's just playing hard to get anyways, as
soon as he's back with us, he'll come around pretty quick." B'nar
grabbed at the boy's hips and gave him a hard groping.

That was it. G'wen swung back and punched the arse as hard as he
could alongside the side of his head, getting his ear and eye. When
the guy doubled over, he jumped back to stand behind F'neb. Shaking
like a leaf, he pressed his hands against F'neb's back for support.

"You little...!" B'nar grabbed his face where G'wen had hit him.

"He's got a right to choose who he wants to be with, and I think he's just
made it pretty clear that man is not you." F'neb glanced back to G'wen, he
hadn't realised the little greenrider had it in him to throw a punch. "Now
unless you want the Weyrlingmaster and your wingleader to hear about this...
I suggest you back right off."

G'wen stayed brave until the two jerks melted back into the crowd.
After they left, he deflated and pressed his forehead against F'neb's
back, too shaken for the moment to say his thanks.

"Are you okay," F'neb said after a moment, turning around to look at the
little greenrider.

Nodding, G'wen asked, "can we just go? Please?" The last thing he
wanted to do was stay here and as well, he was afraid to walk back by
himself.

"I'll walk you back to your weyr, then I need to come back and get my
weyrmate."

G'wen dropped his eyes down. "Tha..that's okay then, I can get back
by myself." Not waiting for a reply, he slipped through the crowd and
away from the party as quick as he could.

"G'wen!" F'neb called out.

B'nar noted the boy leave his rescuer and walked quickly to the door
as well. No one was going to hit him and get away with it. A few
hard slaps upside the head and that whore would come around pretty
quick.

"G'wen!" F'neb called out again, walking over to the lad, hoping he'd turn
and see the other bluerider heading his way.

The boy turned at F'neb's shout only to get a backhand across his
mouth, knocking him against the wall. Tasting blood, he swung out
when B'nar grabbed his arm and hair, contacting with the man's stomach

That was enough for F'neb. "I told you to leave him alone," he said loud
enough for several other people to hear and turn to see them.

R'yaden was caught by surprise at the sudden crowd building, and melted
away, leaving B'nar to his fate.

"You should really leave, now. Before I do something you might regret,"
F'neb threatened.

"Oh, shard it!" Swinging with all he could, G'wen punched the man one
more time, right in the nose. If F'neb wasn't going to save him, he'd
bloody well do it himself.

B'nar doubled over, just in time to get a wine bottle right over the
head, knocking him to the ground. Bottle in hand, F'neb's weyrmate
looked pretty pleased with herself. Nodding to the small weyrling, she
said, "us greenriders need to look out for each other. Come on
sweetie, I'll get you back to your weyr safe." Taking G'wen by the
arm, she shot a dirty look at her boyfriend and nodded for him to
follow.

"If you ever go near him again..." Perhaps there was a deftly placed kick as
well, it was difficult to tell in the melee that formed as F'neb left.

"Oh, leave it, F'neb, we already clocked that arsehole. Now come on!"
Sylvian had just about all she could stand of blueriders tonight.
First that jerk daring to imply that because someone was a greenrider
then he must be gagging for it. And then her indecisive boyfriend not
being able to finish off the rescue of this little one. She glanced
down at him and recognized him as the one that had all the rumours
flying about on how he was caught in Sh'lua's weyr. Poor thing! She
squeezed his hand tighter, where it rested in the crook of her arm.
"Don't worry, sweetie, no one's going to hurt you now."

They'd get him back to his weyr, get him to bed with a kiss on the
forehead and then she was going to have a long talking to with her
boyfriend. Her mind was already working on the how and why F'neb came
so quickly to the rescue of this one. He was certainly pretty enough
for F'neb's tastes.
